HTC Incredible :: Power Button Not Working Properly
May 12, 2010
The power button no longer works to turn the phone display off when the phone display is on. It works when the phone display is off to turn the phone display on and it works when I press and hold it to display the phone options menu.
I read before where someone used some old, thin rubber from some headphones to replace the foam on the power button after disassembly. Send me pictures or anything of the sort showing how to do this? I really need to fix it, and I want to do it myself, but I don't want to turn my phone into a paperweight. "how to" guide on this issue and some reassurance that everything I take off can be put right back on if not broken.
does anyone know if its possible or what app would be used to have the optical button work the same as the power button on the top of the phone. so if you push the button it would light the display up. or maybe its not even possible.
I've had my droid for about a week now and about two days ago the power button stopped working and is now completly unresponsive.I can't power off the phone without taking out the battery. Good thing that sliding the keyboard out wakes the screen so I can unlock it.I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem or is it possible this is just a defect and I should get a replacement also I have tried doing the factory reset to see if it was some app I may have installed causing the problem but its still not working.
After being a dedicated bb user, I recently switched to a droid. I'm completely satisfied, however, I have had a small issue with my lock/power button. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but my power/lock button seems to be "stuck". I can still push it, but it's not as "click able" as when I first purchased it. I wish I could explain it better. I actually went to verizon a few days ago, and they weren't much help. The tech actually sprayed some of that air in a can stuff, which temporarily made it better. However, it now seems stuck again. Has anyone had this problem? Sorry for being such a new b!
Just last week I finally rooted my Motorola Droid (thanks for the help)! All was good until today when I woke up and the power button didn't work.It was intermittently working this afternoon, and now it does nothing.I was ready to unroot the phone so I could take it back to Verizon when I realized that I can't get into the bootloader screen without the power button.I tried holding the D-pad up while reinstalling the battery and I also tried the camera and volume down buttons while reinstalling the battery. The battery removal and reinstall just doesn't seem to be working to put it into the bootloader screen.
my galaxy s2,it is rooted, and i have another problem : the phone restarts by itself and gets stucked in the boot loop, i never flashed a new rom ,it is running the stock rom,Someday i needed to factory reset the phone so i rebooted into recovery mode (power + home button +vol up) ,. I booted into recovery mode but the power button does NOT react as 'select' button although it works just fine for power on and off. I select a function and press [power] an the first line becomes the selected. pushing it again just flashed the screen. But pressing it long turns the phone off,and even after the factory reset from phone directly(with out going to recovery mode)
I just replaced my Motorola Droid. Before when in the middle of a call or to hang up a call i just pull the phone away from my head and the screen would come on... or, i would have to use the power up button on the top of the device then swipe to unlock. Now in the middle of a call the power button is not working nor does the screen illuminate when i pull away from my head.
I am on phone #3 since the last two blew out the external speakers. Anyway this one hasn't had the weather working properly since I have received it, even after going to Froyo. It shoes my weather town name as "Current Location" instead of my towns name which the first two Incredibles showed just fine. The phone will occasionally show my town but not always. I have tried updating the weather a couple times but no luck. I also made sure all the location settings were turned on.
Had the family over tonight and my brothers phone had four bars... some Samsung unit and my Dad's Motorola Droid had FIVE BARS.... My Incred had ZERO to 1 bar (occasionally)Wassup with that? The battery is definitely an issue already but how about you? How is your signal?
I was on 2.1 stock, did the leaked ota and then the 2.2 leak. Everything is working great but I've noticed vibrate is not working for notifications. It seems to work for hepatic feedback and on calls BUT apps like gmail/messages/chompsms/others don't vibrate at all even if it's enabled. What the hell do I do? Any ideas?
Is it at all possible to end phone calls by pressing the power button on the top of the phone? I got used to this on my girlfriend's iPhone and like it a lot better than ending the call by pressing the screen. Is there an app for this? Or a setting?
I am trying to add the full screen style face book widget to one of my home screens but it always adds the small one without asking me which style I want. To reproduce this you can add the small one to a screen, then delete it, then try to add the face book widget again and it won't ask you which style this time.
Well, go the update in the middle of the night and now have a slight problem. I use the phone as an alarm and this morning it would not shut off. I have the side buttons set to disarm the alarm and nothing. I had to turn the phone completely off and then re-boot to get the damn alarm to shut up. Now I can't get "what do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze" outta my head (ringtone from Hangover).
This is a problem I've noticed lately that is just killing my battery life. My Incredible never dims on its own. If I press the power button the screen will shut off but lets say I get a text and then I hit the power button, the screen comes on. I respond to the text and then hit home and put my phone down on the desk. The screen will stay on indefinitely. Not charging, completely unplugged the screen will just stay on. Has anyone run accross this and does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to time out again?
I would gladly pay money (and i'm sure a lot of eris -> incredible users would too) for an app/patch to give me the option to use an alternative key/button (menu/home button, or even vol rocker?) to wake up the phone when it's in sleep mode. It was one of the major reasons why I ended up returning the moto droid for an eris (the eris has a power button on the bottom of the phone). Would root be required for this kind of mod?
I dropped my htc desire today. Now i realised that my power button doesnt turn on the screen after standby, so i have to take out the battery and turn it on again ( YES THE POWER BUTTON ACTUALLY DOES TURN ON THE PHONE) Soo, is it caused by the drop, or is it a sofware issue?
Has anyone noticed that when you hold the power button, the Silent Mode will be listed as ON when the volume is on? Isn't this backwords? Then to silent the phone, I tap the Silent mode, and it switches to OFF and then the phone is silent (with the (/) through a music note in the taskbar)
Is there any way to make it so when i press and hold the power button and choose either silent or vibrant only that it will also mute media? I am hoping for the ability to change something through adb shell or something because I use the power button method all the time I just really want it to mute/unmute the media volume too.
Hi can anyone help I have only had my htc desire a few weeks and now the power button does not seem to be working the phone goes on to standby when not in use but when i press the power button it's not coming back on unless i ring the phone. it's also not turning off when i press it, any ideas?
I'm learning about the android. Now, I want to display a button that can turn off the screen. That is when the user click the button the screen off as the user click the power button. How can I do this?
