Now I am slightly new to the android game. Had a D1 that I traded for and I loved it. Used Astro File manager on there to get swype when it was available. I hear about this app and how it is great and you need it. I have downloaded it and I am not really 100% positive on its purpose. Is it just an easy way to delete files? Are there files I shouldn't delete?
My lil brother has a Samsung epic and it has a built in task killer. I was wondering do I need one for my HTC Evo. If I search google and then go back to home page google is still running in the background right? I saw somewhere that the astro file manager has a built in task killer.
ok so i was playing around with trying to get the stoick mms to install over the twmms.apk and i finally got it working.First of all, if you don't have astro file manager, go download from the market cause you will need it. next go to this link and download the Modified Mms.apk and put it on your sdcard.
Modified Mms.apk-Turn-off debug mode, stop application from lagging [Updated: 08/21] - xda-developers.Now travel to the saved mms.apk on your sdcard and click in it to install and click upgrade.that's it. Now you should have the stock mms.apk.
Is there a way to install apps without service to my Motorola Droid. See I have currently suspended my contract due to a deployment overseas. Obviously my Droid only works in the states, but I was wondering is there a way to install apps on my phone via usb and the inet connection on my laptop?
I have the HTC Incredible and my phone started saving photos to phone memory, instead of the SD card. I want to move the photos with Astro File Manager from emmc/DCIM/100MEDIA to the SD card. Is there a way (with Astro or anything else) where I can move all the photos from phone memory to the SD card?
I just noticed that Astro has a built-in task killer. (Please no more about if we NEED a task killer) What I like about the killer on astro is that it lets me see how much memory and cpu a task or process is actually using before I kill it. I rarely use a task killer. Only when a task seems to be hanging up. It looks like Astro has the functionality I need, so I will remove Advanced Task Killer.
I want to make sure that I backed up everything before I upgrade. Mybackup Pro trial edition backed up my contacts, call logs, text logs, bookmarks, home screens, SMS, MMS, settings, calendar.Astro File Manager backed up my apps.Do I need to back-up anything else?
This is for all of you who are having troubles getting your application "Wireless Tether for Root Users" to work. I personally kept getting an error on which would say "Initializing WiFi Interface: Failed." I have since been able to get it to work. Here's how.
Disclaimer: Obviously you need a rooted phone for this to work, We're in Root forums for a reason. You will also need the Amon Recovery Partition. Steps: 1. Boot phone into Recovery by holding Volume Up + Power (End Button). 2. Wipe phone of all data. 3. Flash to the 0_3 rom, install Astro File Manager from the Market 4. Download and install file from below and place into phones SD card. 5. Install from Astro by opening it in App Manger, Open up application and enjoy! Wireless Tether!
I'm at a loss trying to get Astro to communicate with my Windows XP home computer. I downloaded the SMB module for my MotoDroid, but am not really clear on how to configure my Windows Networking settings and what exactly needs to be entered in Astro's configuration settings. Is there a guide on how to do this on the web?.. if so, I haven't been able to find it.
Has any1 been successful in using Astro or any other file manager to move files from the SD Card to the internal Memory located at /EMCC/ ? I've tried a couple times, both moving small amount of files and/or entire folders and got Error messages in Astro. Is this just lack of support or can u really just add files using a Computer to the internal memory?
Instead of installing another program I would rather just use Astro's process manager, it works plenty well for what I want now.I know you can use Anycut to rename and create shortcuts to most things, but is there a way to create a shortcut to a function within a program? If not with Anycut, maybe a different program?
I need to install a program on my phone. But I don't have a file manager, and I deleted my gmail acct so I can't access the market. Is there a way to manually install apks (maybe with the help of a computer)?
Set up my Incredible yesterday.Everythings working well except one weird issue. It appears that it pooled ALL of the contacts exchange contacts, Facebook phone numbers/emails, and every single gmail address I've ever emailed before. When I compose a new text, and select the little person icon to find who to send it to, it brings up a list of at least 3,000 contacts.Everything from unsubscribe email addresses to craigslist to 5 different phone numbers listed for someone off Facebook. Is there anyway to prevent this or remove it? In "People" it's correct, only shows the contacts from my Exchange server and everything looks good. But going to compose a new text (or typing a new gmail email) it brings up EVERYTHING.
When I click on a 3gp file in astro, it'll say "file type 3gp not found" but it'll play fine in the Gallery app. I swore when I clicked on a 3gp file in the past while browsing in astro, it'll pop up with an option but it no longer does. I cleared all defaults too.
I am new and this may be a stupid question. I cannot find files and folders on my Incredible. If I download an attachment I have no idea where it goes. I can't "see" the Droid on my computer when synced so do not know how to find the pictures to transfer to computer.
I want to install a couple of applications that aren't on the market (notably RockPlayerBase and CarHome.)Anyway, I have Astro (the free version) and I have set the phone to allow unknown installations. However when I navigate to the .apk files on the SD card using astro and select 'Open App Manager' all the summaries are blank and if I go to the 'Details' tab it displays the message "Could not open /sdcard/download/CarDock.apk as APK file".It seems to do this with all .apk files I try and install.
Ditched out my bb torch 9800 and got myself a nice htc one x lte , so i am faily new to Android. So far so good i don't regret the move . I got the astro file manager to organised my pics and docs and when i cut and paste the files in astro everything goes well . However when i look back into my pics for example the pics i organised in the new folders are still showing outside the folders but can't open them but can delete them . If i look in the new folders my pics are there and everything works fines . It looks like ICS is not refreshing . Am i missing a setting somewhere ? It's a pain to delete each fake files after they are moved .
Is anyone aware of a file manager that can read both the internal DINC memory and the SD card? Perhaps I'm missing something, but I've tried both ASTRO File Manager and ES File Explorer with no success.
okay so here is my problem. My evo wont do anything once paired to my computer via bluetooth. i paired it successfully, then later i wanted to send a file from my phone to my computer via bluetooth, (i have ftp enabled) and told my computer to expect a file and nothing. it doesn't work. also when i check the pairing profile on my computer, under services it is COMPLETELY blank, there should be some services like dial-up modem and bluetooth speakers and stuff shouldn't there be?
here is what i want to be able to do.
1. i want to send files from my EVO to my computer via Astro Bluetooth.
2. i would also like to use my laptop speakers via bluetooth, example, play Pandora on my phone using my laptop speakers via bluetooth connection
that is really all i want to do but i cant get ANYTHING working. could this be solved by rooting my evo? i really just wanna be able to do basic bluetooth functions with my phone.
I created a hidden directory/folder with astro using the .filename technique. The problem is I can't find the folder. When I mount the droid to the computer, I can see the files, so I know they are there. How can I make it so I can see them on the phone when not connected to the computer?
