I logged out of Facebook through the Android App then logged in and all is well. I dont know why it had to come to that, it should do it automatically.I have even done battery pulls which should theoretically log me out, oh well, it works now.I have done some searching around and there was a problem with Facebook a couple weeks back, but I dont think this has anything to do with that. I added a new friend on Facebook on the 25th of July, I also added them manually into my People on my Inc. For whatever reason when I go to the Link part of the contact and go to the Facebook Link, it says to pick from my friends. He does not show up in my friends if I am browsing through the link area. I can go to facebook from the phone and from the computer and he is there. It is making me insane. Also the profile pics are not updating, and havent for many months. My wife's picture has not changed on my phone's end in 4 months, but on the actual Facebook site it has.
Anyone having issues syncing their facebook contacts? For some reason I am only getting some of them to sync, but not all. I've done a few force synchronizations and made sure everything is enables and logged in correctly, as far as I can tell.
In my other android devices there was a setting to have only my grouped Google contacts sync with the phone. The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. I only want the phone to pull Facebook data for those contact already downloaded from Google.
When I pull up the phone on my Incredible, it lists every contact in the world, including everyone from Facebook. I went into my sync settings and unsynced Facebook contacts, but they're still showing up in my phonebook.
Just wondering if there is an app or a procedure to get your facebook contacts to automatically sync with your phones contacts as well as your google contacts. For instance if you add someone as a friend on facebook and they have their email and phone number filled out in their profile, that information would automatically be added to your phone. Is there a way to do that?
On my Droid there was a setting to only sync Facebook data for contacts who also were Google contacts. On the X, there doesn't seem to be that option anymore. I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. Has anyone figured this out?
Am I the only one having this problem? I purchased my samsung epic a week ago and every since I've been getting the message that my facebook contacts is unable to syn at the moment an error of some sort, and too try later.WTH? My facebook calender syncs but not the contacts.I thought that it was th phone so I took it back to the sprint store they restarted my hard drive but it still didn't work, thy sent me to the repair center at another store and the general manager told me to go back and tell them to replace the phone and that I shouldn't be having issues so soon. Well I did that, they gave me a new phone and guess what.yep u guessed it,still the same issue.I went back to the repair center they played with it for 2 straight hours while I waited impatiently and still I walked away with the same problem. What the heck and I suppose to do now?
When I sync my contacts to facebook, I then have the option to choose which name I want them displayed as. Either my GMAIL saved contact, or their Facebook name.
When i choose the FB name, after a few minutes or later that day, it eventually reverts back to the Gmail name. Some names end up permanently staying as the FB name, and some I have to consistently save as the FB name over the period of a few hours for it to stay put. This gets very frustrating, anyone experience similar issues?
Also, side note. On the keyboard, anyway to get back the standard Android Keyboard without losing Sense? I miss the Android OS smilies....
My contacts photos do not update I've told it to sync through the People, Facebook menu, & it appears to be syncing - endlessly it NEVER finishes.I have about 500 contact so I assume it may take a while, but it goes all day & night & never finishes.
i just got the HTC desire loving it by the way.. but the only problem i have at the moment is that i can't seem to be able to sync my facebook with the phone. i have managed to get my contact card, however, its not picking up any of my friends.
Have had a look through other threads, but with no result.I have synced all of my contacts with their relevant Facebook Profiles.Unfortunately, syncing has brought all of their details across - including 'phone numbers' such as 'ask me' etc etc.I've fumbled around the "Edit Contact" screen for quite a while trying to work out how to remove these details from here, but to no avail. It seems I can only edit the details I've entered in myself, and not the details that have been synced from Facebook.I'm aware I can simply remove the link / sync, but I quite like having the contact pictures in there.Anyone know how to remove these 'extra' details but leave it synced?
I just made the switch from an iPhone to the Note 3. I was wondering if there is a way to make the contact stored on my device and the duplicate Facebook contact all into one instead of having two separate ones.
Does anybody know what system apk is responsible for syncing and updating contacts profile pictures and statuses from face book.I am 2.2 rooted, bloatware removed and I removed a couple others my self. But don't know what apk to re-install so my contacts automatically update. I used syncmypix but I am not a fan of it. I have downloaded both system apps zip files. I just don't know what I am looking for.
my contacts have doubled since syncing with Facebook. There are some FB contacts I'd like to keep, and others I would like to delete. I plan on deleting those but don't want them to re-appear at a later date. Is there a way to turn off FB syncing after just the initial sync? I think that's my best option at this point.New here so thanks for the info in advance and I hope to get enough knowledge to help out on the forums soon.
Before I upgraded to 2.1 OTA, my contacts had no problem syncing with Facebook (both manual and automatic). Here is what happens: I go to a contact, find the bar that says "Link to Facebook" or whatever it says, click it, then type in the name of the person to search Facebook friends, but no matter what I do it says that there are no matches. No one else has reported this problem, so I'm guessing it isn't a problem inherent to 2.1. Could you guys provide some input as to what I need to do to fix this?
anyone experience this within the last hour or so?I noticed that i had to sign back into my account on "Social Networking" in settings, but nothing is syncing back up. they are all still sync'd (if you go into a contact on the computer, there is a "note" in the "notes" section showing the link), but nothing is showing up. I'm guessing eventually it will download everything again and I just need to give it time, and I'm also sure it's a Facebook issue thing, since they just updated and tweaked their UI, but i was curious if anyone else noticed this.
Anyway to initiate they sync with ALL CONTACTS like it did during the initial setup?I imported my exchange contacts and deleted the gmail ones now I have no facebook sync with my contacts. I can sync them individually, but that would take forever.I know you can do them each independently. but I want to do ALL of them at once like it did when I first got my phone.Anyone know how to sync ALL OF THEM like it did in the beginning?
After the update to Android 2.1 on my HTC Hero, like many other people, I had problems syncing my phone contacts to my facebook contacts. The process com.htc.bgp constantly force closed, and no linking could be made or is some cases only a part of the facebook contacts were synced. Different fixes has been suggested by users online but none of them worked. But after a lot of trying, a combination of these fixes finally solved the problem for me. Now all my facebook contacts are available to link to my phone contacts. Here's what I did and what you can try: 1. On your computer, go to Facebook Account Application settings. Remove applications Facebook for Android and HTC Sense. Log out of Facebook.
2. On your phone, remove any all Facebook programs or widgets you might have installed.
3. Go to Settings Accounts and delete your Facebook for HTC Sense account. The settings Background data should be checked and Auto-sync unchecked.
4. Go to Settings Applications Manage applications. Enter each of the following applications and click Clear data: a. Calender b. Calender Storage c. com.htc.socialnetwork.accountmanager d. com.htc.socialnetwork.provider e. Facebook for HTC Snese f. Gmail g. Gmail Storage h. My Uploads i. PC Synchronization
5. Restart your phone.
6. Connect to the internet.
7. Start the Photos program
8. At the bottom there should be a facebook icon. Click it and log in to your facebook account.
9. Let all the contacts download.
10. Go to your contacts (People), and now your old Facebook connections should slowly start to appear, and you should be able to link the contacts to your facebook contacts. It might take a while but have patience!
Perhaps one or a few of these steps are not necessary, but at least its what worked for me and hopefully it will help some of you.
So is there a solid fix for syncing facebook with contacts yet? I try to manually sync and get a no results for everything. I've tried all the suggestions I've seen in the forum so far and I've also tried googling for the answer. I'm running evil eris 3.0
I see it does it automatically for some people. I think if their name matches exactly or possible their email in Google Contacts is the same as Facebook. But how do I sync them if I changed their display name or have no email for them?
I've had the phone going on two weeks this Sunday and I still can't get Facebook to sync the contacts. It always says: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I was wondering if anyone else had this problem but was finally able to get a sync to occur by doing some tricky steps or something?
