When I reboot in recovery, it looks like my HBOOT version in .77. Someone in one of the threads mentioned that .77 and .79 were floating around as the safe options. How can I upgrade HBOOT versions, and with everything running fine, is there any benefit to upgrading? I'm running unrevoked forever, second wave rom, and newest radio leak if that matters.
Is there anyone that can give me step by step instructions on how to use hboot to install files from the root directory on my sd card. Ex.
This is what I did: I downloaded Clockworkmod 188.8.131.52, renamed the Clockworkmod zip to PB31IMG.zip, and placed it on the root of my SD card. Power-off, and boot into HBOOT (pressing the down vol+power button).
Then I downloaded Superuser 184.108.40.206 and place it on the SD card, use Clockworkmod Recovery and choose "Install .zip from SD" option.
Restarted my phone, and there's Superuser."
I have tried going through hboot and never see these files once I have installed them on the SD card.
I have read conflicting things, so I come to the experts. My phone is on hboot 0.77 - is this OK to install the OTA 2.2? I have read that 0.77 may send the phone into an endless boot loop if you install Froyo.
In my attempt to install the MUIU Rom I am having trouble upgrading my Hboot to .92. Ive downloaded it from various links provided, put it in the root of my sd, rebooted into hboot, waited, saw it check the PB31IMG.zip.....then nothing. It doesn't prompt me to do anything....
What does boot into hboot mean? Is it just powering off the phone then holding down the volume button and press power? If so then can someone explain to me when I download a called PB31IMG.zip and put it into my sdcard then boot my phone up it does not say anything about an update. For instance, I want to update my radio from 1.00.03.04.06 to 2.15.00.07.28.
So, I downgraded to stock recovery to get the OTA2.2, I had problems doing so, but finally was able to get it to be stock recovery with s-off and running HBOOT .79, would I need .77 to get the OTA or no?
I had 2.1 rooted with S-OFF I wasn't able to update to 2.2 via OTA so I found an update.zip I attempted to load the update.zip but it failed Using [VIDEO] HowTo UnRoot Incredible by downgrading I downgraded to stock 2.1 but for some stupid reason I also disabled unrevoked forever and went to S-ON I then applied the May OTA update Getting your phone ready for the FroYo update.zip! Following that I applied the 2.2 update.zip
Here are the versions I'm on: HBOOT-0.92.0000 RADIO-2.15.00.07.28
Now I'm trying to apply unrevoked3 and it fails I found 2.1 stock to 2.2 rooted (with links to files) I tried to downgrade to stock again and I now get this error: Main Version is older! Update Fail! Do you want to reboot the device?
From what I understand I'm unable to downgrade to stock due to having an updated HBOOT I've found instructions on how to downgrade HBOOT How to revert back to an earlier version of HBOOT but it seems I need clockworkmod to do that
So my question is. Is there a way I can proceed from here or am I stuck waiting for an official root for 2.2?
I upgraded my radio was when 2.05 was released (1.0 -> 2.05), so I'm not sure if risks are the same given that we now have S-OFF.
Previously (when I upgraded) there were bricks that would occur if the same radio was flashed twice. I cannot remember whether the method of radio upgrading was done via HBOOT or Recovery. If the risk is still there, can I upgrade from 2.05 to 2.15, or should I downgrade to 1.0 then upgrade?
As far as HBOOT goes, I have never upgraded my HBOOT, I'm either running on 0.77 or 0.79, but I want to play around with some of the newer roms. Regardless, is HBOOT 0.92 an official release, or is it a user contributed release?
I root my phone, installed Fourth Wave without a hiccup. I do my co-workers phone the same way and now he is stuck in HBoot. Radio won't update either. I removed the battery for 20min and tried, no luck. Goes right into HBoot. Anyway to get the phone back to normal?
So, I flashed .92 hboot from adrynalynes website and it is stuck in some kind of weird hboot boot loop. When I try to reboot it just goes black and comes back to this screen. I can get to clockwork and do and nandroid backup, but I just wanted to know what potentially caused this so I can avoid this in the future.
This mostly applies to folks who have flashed the leaked ota and want to go back to legit stock. There is generally a problem with that, because we cannot use the RUU due to the upgraded Hboot (no radio has nothing to do with it).
Through my travels, I found a way to do it.
This is not without its risks, and I take no responsibility for any broken phones, knocked up cats, or homeless hamsters caused from the havoc it may wreak.
It did work for me, quite well. I was able to flash to an old RUU without issue like nothing ever happened.
First, the link I used, and then the english version.

Now, my instructions, which will hopefully simplify it. I take no credit for this by the way, credit is due to the original thread.
1. Download and unzip the files I have attached to this thread and put them somewhere that you can push them with adb. 2. You must used Unrevoked's latest tool to install clockwork. 3. Boot into clockwork recovery, go to partitions, and mount data. 4. Type this code...
So I downloaded the unroot file, installed it onto the SD card (formatted by the phone), and when I load Hboot it finds no update. It just brings up the normal menu (fastboot, clear storage, simlock, etc.).
I've rooted my Incredible with Unrevoked 3 and I have successfully used Unrevoked Forever to set S=OFF.now, I am trying to update to Froyo, but I am confused as crap. Can I use the official OTA update and do it manually? Or do I need a different ROM to update manually with.I've searched here and there everywhere and I haven't gotten a firm answer or I can't find anything at all.
I've done a couple searches but can't seem to get a straight answer.I have a rooted stock 2.1 on my Incredible.Works great and I've installed the wireless tether app.If I download the official upgrad.zip file and upgrade, will this work or brick my phone?I don't have clockwork or any other rom managers installed.
I want to order an Incredible for my girlfriend from Wirefly/Sears Wireless or Amazon. She wants to transfer the upgrade from her dad's line (they're on a family plan) to her number, but whenever we try to do that on the Verizon website it doesn't stick. Is there a way to permanently transfer the upgrade to her number? Otherwise, could I order the Incredible under her dad's number, and then activate it with her number once we get it? I've heard mixed answers as to whether or not Wirefly/Sears Wireless will charge an ETF for this action.
I got fed up with my music player constantly skipping/phone lag on my Eris and got a VZW manager to approve a early upgrade for me. I was thinking should I go with the Droid Incredible? I wanted some current owner's opinions before I drop $200 on it.
Currently I mainly use my phone for: 1. Texting- I send at least 80 texts a day. 2. Web Surfing- I spend a lot of time on-line google, news..etc 3. Picture taking- I love to snap photos of friends and travels. 4. Talking- I maybe use 500 min a month if that. I text a lot due to working in a call center. 5. Mp3 player- i use my phone in the car and at work prob 45 hours a week
Considering these points do you think it would be wise to choose the Incredible or do you think my issues with the Eris could haunt me again on the Sense UI altogether? Any input is welcomed and appreciated guys.
I am on a Verizon family plan. My line is not due for an upgrade for a long time, but another line on the family plan is (just a standard flip phone). my question is: Can I use the other (flip phone) upgrade to get my self a new incredible WHILE leaving the flip phone a standard, non data line? When i go to purchase online using the upgrade, it makes me choose a data plan.
I got my "dinc" in early August with 2.1 onboard and recieved the OTA froyo upgrade about two weeks ago. I like 2.2 (I think) but not all the battery-vampire crap-apps that came with it. I desparately want to root so that I can explore the full potential of this phone and hopefully find some options to extend my battery and get rid of the bloatware.
Unrevoked's website says v3.2 has been temporarily pulled and to use v2.2 "in the meantime". I've tried several of the methods that call for 3.2 using 2.2 and it seems to work up to the reboot step towards the end. Each time I get this "failed to flash recovery image" message. I've followed every detail of several videos and posts (including one from this forum) instructing how to root with Unrevoked, but the end result is always the same.
1. Can I use Unrevoked to root my phone with the froyo upgrade in place? 2. If so, how? Because what I've been trying ain't gettin' it done. 3. If not, is there a way to roll-back to 2.1 so that I can use Unrevoked? 4. Could the 2.2 version of Unrevoked be casuing my "failed flash" issue?
I'm having some issues with the Gmail after upgrading my DINC to Froyo using the Leaked RUU. On 2.1, the second I got an email, it showed up in my Gmail inbox (no notification, but that wasn't a big deal, i just manually checked it) anyway, now its not doing that, and I have to manually refresh Gmail, which is annoying. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to get around it?
Ok so after messing around with both the X and Incredible and literally WAY too much time spent researching, Ive pretty much made my decision with the Incredible. But now it has me thinking again. Is it really a good time to upgrade? I feel like the Incredible is starting to phase out a little (Or thats the feeling I get from some people) and I wonder if maybe I should just wait for the next HTC phone, or if this is the perfect time to upgrade.Im still unsure if I can do a 1 year plan(I need to talk to a VZN rep) instead of a 2 year plan, but if I can I would be a little more comfortable upgrading from my dinky LG Dare right now. Again, do you personally think it is a good time to upgrade to my first smartphone or simply waiting a little while for something else to come along?PS. I also keep hearing about an Incredible 2.any news on that?
my dad has the primary line on my plan and he pays more than 49.99 per month so he qualifies for the annual upgrade. i wanted to know if i can use that upgrade as an alternate upgrade and upgrade my samsung reality to an htc incredible using his upgrade?
I tired installing the 2.2 update, but as many of us have seen problems have been occuring. I updated my sisters radio to the version that changed the start up screen. I didn't root the phone or apply any other update except for that one. Obviously I need to downgrade what I did to the stock. I downloaded SDK and will attempt to follow this: Quote:
Been with VZW for several years and can't remember paying an activation fee ever.let alone for an upgrade that's purchased online that I activate myself. Does anyone know if we'll actually be paying the $35 activation fee for current customers (NE2 eligible) w/2 year contract?
I'm looking into getting the Droid Incredible but had a question about all Android phones with the HTC Sense UI. I know that there is a wait for these phones to upgrade when Android has a version upgrade for their OS. If I were to remove the Sense UI from the phone would it be possible to upgrade immediately when a release is available? Take, for example, the Droid Eris. Would it be possible to disable/remove the Sense UI and install Android 2.1 and not have to wait? Or is Sense embedded in the phone to where that's not possible?
I rooted my Inc awhile ago following the thread here. Complete Guide: Root, unrEVOked, Titanium, Tether, Nandroid, AdFree, animation, and remove apps.I then loaded Skyraider 2.5.2 a few days ago. Now I am wanting to upgrade my radio as it is still 1.0.Can someone point me to some instructions on upgrading my radio? Should I even mess with upgrading my radio?
I am currently at 2.1 rooted, S-off, stock radio.I just flashed stock recovery over clockworkmod.I am wondering if it is possible to upgrade to 2.2 with the OTA and skip the wiping of data? Where do I obtain the stock OTA? I have been poking around and I am not finding it.
I came from a Moto RZR a few months ago to be an early adopter of the Nexus 1. Soon found that tMobile didn't cut it coverage wise so I returned it. However, I really loved the OS and so I decided to wait for the N1 to come to VZW.Not being able to wait for the N1 I bought an Eris for $10 and signed up for a 2-yr contract. During the couple months or so with the Eris I flashed both leaks. My Eris was working very good indeed with few problems.I then pre-ordered and received the Incredible today. It is a sweet phone however, this is the point I want to make. Once the official 2.1 is available, the Eris is and will continue to be one fine phone. If speed is your cup of tea then upgrade but just realize you'll be able to do the exact same thing on your Eris so think twice before you take the plunge. This is in no way a buyer's remorse statement as I really wanted the speed and it is nice to have everything functioning as it should. I'm sure there will be problems. Remember, the Eris will work just as well in the future minus the speed.
I see site like amazon and wirefly sending out Inc according to some people. In order to get the cheaper price you have to renew. Ive always did my renewing thru Verizon and am currently not eligable for upgrade. Can I still go to the other sites and extended my contract and upgrade to a new phone? How does that work?
When I first bought my incredible, I was ecstatic about how well it performed and everything that it did. Aside from downloading a few apps, I had no desire to augment or root it.
When the 2.2 ROM came out, I have to admit, I was hesitant about installing it because I figured "why mess with a good thing" but my phone was insistent. Every time I unlocked it, it was telling me to upgrade, so finally I did.
I've been miserable ever since.
Apparently this new ROM made the touch screen extra sensitive. So much so that when I hold it (I am LEFT handed) it is constantly thinking I'm touching the home button and responds accordingly. This is because the way I hold it, the thumb side of my hand is near the home button and though it's not pressing it, just being near it, beside it, etc, is enough to trigger it. Even plugging in the phone to charge or link to the computer causes the home button to go crazy.
In addition to this, the camera, which I was so pleased with and took excellent pictures all the time under any circumstance, has now become sub-par. I don't care about 720dp video, I care about taking great pictures, which my Incredible used to do, but now it has problems with lighting, I'm constantly having to adjust the ISO instead of leaving it at automatic, and whereas it used to do fine with people in motion, now these shots are blurry 100% of the time.
This has led me to the conclusion that I need to somehow get my phone back to the 2.1 ROM.
Now, I've searched the forums and I've found two sets of instructions that seem to both be getting me to what I want.
One is How to downgrade and root your DInc from 2.2 |
The other is Unroot - The Incredible List
Considering I've never rooted my phone at any point and I'm trying to get back to the original 2.1 (unrooted) Incredible ROM that came with my phone, I was wondering which set of instructions is for me (or is there another I have not seen).
I also wanted to make sure that PB31IMG.zip is the ROM I'm looking for as both reference that same file. I want to make sure this will get me back to the original 2.1 where I want to be.
My second question is this, once I get back to 2.1, how do I keep my phone from wanting the upgrade? I do not want to go to 2.2 and if I recall, when the prompt came up, I only had the option to "Install Now" or "Install Later"... there was no "Do Not Install" option.
I would like to go back to 2.1 and STAY THERE without being pestered to upgrade every 5 minutes!
Just so you know, though I've never rooted a phone before, I'm not skittish about this process, I'm a network administrator, I've hacked windows mobile phones before and though this is Linux, I'm confident that given instructions, I can follow them correctly. In addition, I'm not the least bit concerned about the potential of losing all my data or apps or even "bricking" my phone. I know it's a risk and I'm prepared to take it.
I have seen several posts noting problems requiring a hard reset. I myself had to do this, as I couldn't always answer the phone (swipes were simply ignored about 70% of the time) and the weather widget was out, too. Had to hard reset and, from what I hear, so have many others. Why is this? I called HTC, who called what Verizon did "buggy".
I updated officially to Froyo 2.2 today from the VZW notification. Now, whenever I select my camcorder, it goes back to the home screen and does not launch. I removed a flashlight app that I had installed from the market. I restarted several times. Tried removing the battery for 15 minutes. All no help. any suggestions. Everything else seems to work properly.
Okay loosing my mind here. I used the run and upgraded to 2.2 and of course in the process lost my swipe. So, I resent myself the email and tried to teinstall. I am getting an error that says I am not using the same device registered at beta.swipe.com. I have tried all the suggestions on their faq page ( closing programs, deleting and downloading, etc.) To no avail. Anyone got any Ideas? I can't type on this thing anymore without it!
Having recently successfully rooted using unrevoked3 one-click, what happens when the next Android/Sense upgrade arrives? Do I simply stay rooted and install the upgrade? Does this in any way disturb the existing Clockwork functionality?
since I upgraded to froyo and rooted it takes up to 10 minutes to see my sd card on my PC. Sometimes it seems like it drags down my PC. I did also upgrade my card to a 32 gb which could be the problem or did I not format it correctly be the problem. Tia
Unless I'm crazy I remember being able to create custom field labels for the phone and email info in the original people app (all contacts are Google type) on my Incredible. If I created them on my phone; they showed up in my Gmail contacts. If I created them in Gmail contacts; they showed up on phone.
Now all I see on the people app label options are the standard ones with no option to edit/create a cutom as there was before. Is this the case after 2.2? If so I'd rather have 2.1 back. I loved that feature! Anyone else see this on their DINC?
I've been really happy with my Incredible since it came out.I even got a new stereo for my car, an Alpine CDE-102, because I was able to plug my phone into it and it would start playing my music off the SD card. Today I updated, and now my stereo does not detect the files on the SD card.I think it is only looking at the phone storage. Was the phone storage given some kind of higher priority in the update? Is there any way to keep my phone storage from being mounted?
Im having some problems with my desire.. my phone is presently in a htc white logo > reset > htc white screen logo > reset loop of doom... I can load up my hboot menu but that is about it.. If i try and select recovery in hboot it just resets the phone back into the htc white logo > reset > htc white screen logo loop.. somebody has suggested that unrevoked scewed up somewhere along the line and to install the RUU but windows isnt even recognising it as a USB drive in hboot...
