HTC Incredible : Google Voice / All Call Block Not Working
Jun 4, 2010
I have my phone set up with an All Call Block (outgoing caller ID blocked) with VZW. When I make a GV call using the Android app, it says something about the call can't be completed as dialed. Does the app not work with phones that have an All Call Block? I did call VZW to remove the block, but, since it's a corporate account, I needed a password, which I didn't have. But, I think she removed it prior to asking me for the password and GV appears to be working now. I want to see if anyone can confirm that definitely was the reason and if there are any workarounds for using the GV app and keeping my All Call Block. I can make a blocked GV call by manually dialing *67 then my GV # and using the dial out method, but that defeats the purpose of the GV app since that makes everything so easy. I guess the difference in using the GV app vs using a non-android phone is that the GV app dials a "special" number so, if I have the All Call Block, it can't see who I am I thought I recalled that if I dialed my GV number from my non-android phone with the All Call Block, it still recognized me (which is possible since the block only blocks caller ID, but the true number is still sent in the stream). So, bottom line, can I not use the GV app if I have All Call Block or is there a workaround?
I just started using Google Voice last week and am in the process of dumping my BB Curve on my business line and using my GV number for work and having just one phone with multiple mail boxes (pretty exciting for me ) but in the demo videos I've seen they have the option to merge calls and also and this is a big one screen calls. I only get the stock screen on my DI when it comes in. How to use these features?
I like to SMS these numbers for my contacts so I can send the same text to multiple people. Usually the texts also appear in my Google Voice App, but since today the people haven't been getting my texts. I know this by them telling me and the texts not appearing in my GV app.
Well it looks like questions for Google Voice are in threads all over the place so I guess I'll start another one here. Here goes. I'm setting up my GV account and plan on selecting a GV number. Now will people calling me on my new number see any difference billing-wise compared to my current cell number? I know this doesn't really apply to cell phones but what about someone calling from a land line? The GV number I am selecting will be based out of the city I live in. Will that equate to the city or area of my current cell number?
I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
Just got my desire yesterday and i'm wondering how to use google voice call? cus there's nothing in the manual i held the search button and said "call home" but it brings up the browser can someone give me a step by step guide on how to use this feature this is my first smartphone so go easy.
I just installed google voice on my new EVO, and I can't get it to dial with gv, it just dials from my cell number. I have went into gv and changed the setting to "always dial using google voice" and still it dials with my cell number. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
I use google voice to send all my calls on my cliq xt but I was wondering if there is a way to have people call my google voice number and not have it count towards my minutes. Also is there a way to have the sms be integrated with the built in android sms app or have the voice app constantly be open?
Why am I posting a GV question in the EVO forum? Because I don't know if this 'problem' is a GV thing or an EVO+Sense thing. So here goes. My GV account is set up with call filtering. That is where, when you answer the phone, an automated voice tells you who is calling and asks if you want to send to voicemail or answer, etc. It does this for every call. The annoying part is.
Since the Google Voice app update a few weeks ago, I notice that when placing calls, either the wrong number is called OR it doesn't show the proper caller ID (picture or name). Is anyone else experiencing this issue as well?
Didn't know if anyone had a similar problem or a fix. Google voice is working fine, but after installing doubletwist, about 80% of the time after I hang up a call, Doubletwist will launch automatically and play a random song. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Doubletwist, but no change.
Any ideas other than uninstall and leave off Doubletwist?
I have had Google voice for a while now. And yesterday I added a line into my plan and got the Droid. I downloaded Google voice app and everytime I try to place a call it tells me I am unable to make the call. I did set my new number as the phone being used. Any suggestions? Or is there something up with Google voice?
I remember last year that Sprint was going to announce free call forwarding for google voice. is this true? Any updated info? I've never followed up on that news but now that I have the Evo, I want to take advantage of the Google Voice App.
I don't like the sense screen that comes up when you make calls, and I have google voice installed. How do I make sure that the google voice screen, pictured below, sticks instead of having it switch to the sense call screen. Also, can I theme the google voice app? I'm not a fan of the colors.
I use the Google Voice (GV) click to call (click-to-call / ctt) feature quite a bit. When it rings my phone, my OWN google voice number shows up in my phone's call log. Does anybody know if it is possible, or how, to get the click-to-call initiated calls to show up as the person that I was calling in my phone's call log?
I can't make calls using google voice. What happens is I will dial a number and press send, then something will pop up asking me if I want to make the call with GV or without GV. I choose WITH GV and it will start out okay, but after 5 seconds it goes back to the normal call screen and calls regularly with out GV. Is there anyone who can help me out with this? I have a droid eris.
For me, it appears so, sucks because latest Google Voice is great and the sole reason I want to go back to 1.5 (and then maybe the root 2.1 etcs)Confirmed for me, calls now show google voice number in latest google voice app! (as displayed in long list of fixes/improvements.) I definitely encourage any old Leak V2 users to upgrade that want the latest Google Voice!
Seems to be a big problem with Google Voice starting sometime last night. Outgoing calls from an Android phone are not working. The phone number dialed just rings and rings and is rarely ringing the other end. When it does ring the other end, it's showing the relay number, not the Google Voice number and when the person picks up, no one's there.Relay number is not letting me make calls with the google voice app.Google Mobile Help Current work around is to either call your Google Voice number directly and use it that way. Or use the web interface to call back. Still haven't found any confirmations from Google about this or if a fix is coming.
I downloaded and flashed Fresh 2.0d last night, and all looks good until I try to use Google Voice. I get an error message of - We have a problem, Your phone number could not be verified.
I tried it several times and no go. I then downloaded and older version of Google Voice and got it to recognize my phone, but it won't take messages for missed calls. I called my number, let it go to voicemail, and just get dead air.
Also, received an email from this morning from the Android Team at Google welcoming me and my new Nexus One. I have a Sprint Hero. What's that all about?
I'm not receiving any missed call notifications and my voice mail doesn't work anymore...I'm lost I had everything set up properly and one day it all just randomly stopped working....at first I thought it may be just my blackberry but it even refused to work on my nexus s..
Does anyone know why Google Voice requires an area code to call? I understand that the number it dials from could be from anywhere, so it may need an area code to complete the call, but how about an option to dial a default area code when the person does not enter one?
My google voice search doesn't work when my earpiece is plugged in. I was just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I don't use a bluetooth- I use an earpiece that utilizes the headphone jack.
I just checked my battery and my awake time is 1:00 hr while my voice calls under battery usage show 1h 41 min.I am just asking to better understand the Android OS the time for my voice calls seems to be on par but how does it show that the phone was only awake for 1 hr?Should the awake time not be the same or greater depends on what I did while the phone is not "sleeping"? I am just a little confused by this...could someone pls explain?
