HTC Incredible :: Facebook Draining BatteryAug 27, 2010
It seems that over the past few days all of a sudden facebook is running constantly and keeping my phone awake.
It seems that over the past few days all of a sudden facebook is running constantly and keeping my phone awake.
This is my first smart phone so I'm somewhat of a noob.However recently when I have been checking what has been using my battery the most to try and conserve some battery.My GPS is always off unless I need it and I have not even used Maps at all today. After about 8 hours of being unplugged I was down to about 30% battery life.View 2 Replies View Related
I am using the GPS for a 10 hour or so trip and have it plugged in.It drains the battery completely down even when its in the charger.Anyone have this issue and anyway to resolve it.I am going to use it again and see if the same things happen before I call VZW.View 20 Replies View Related
Over the weekend my battery was pretty good until I started playing with google maps. I accidently turned privacy on to lattitude and my battery was draining even though GPS was off. Lattitude will find you through tower location whcih uses cellular power! Much better this morning when I turned this feature off. In fact google sent me an email letting me know I forgot to turn it off.View 3 Replies View Related
I'm trying to find out why my phone's battery is draining so quickly all of a sudden. I used to have pretty good battery life but now for some reason I do not. Haven't installed any recent apps so I don't know what is doing it. I installed systempanel lite but I think i have to buy the paid version to get it to monitor it. is that correct?View 2 Replies View Related
Anybody else seem to think the handcent app drains your battery big time? I had it loaded for a few hours and it's killing my battery!
Also how do I get rid of the notifications in my dropdown screen, I really dont need the notification there as well as on the Pop up...........
I hate the fact that when i use my camera, or camcorder and send an mms or simply save a picture, that it goes back to the camera. I hit the back button, home button, etc. and of course the camera goes away. I know the OS knows that the camera is in the background now, not utilizing CPU, therefore not using up MAH, but I'm OCD about it running, not sure why. The only 2 apps i kill when i'm done are google maps, and camera. I just dont want them running in the background even though they dont have "focus" and will not be drawing any power. There are some apps that come with an exit button, which is fine with me, even though it doesn't actually close the app, and i only use ATK when something is funky on the phone and not giving me what i want, but are you guys the same way as me, or am i the only one that force kills some of the more batt. draining apps ?View 40 Replies View Related
Today's my 4th day of using the phone. I just charged it while phone's on, from 1 bar of battery left. It only took 1 hour for the LCD light to go green? that doesn't sound right. Is that normal?View 9 Replies View Related
I am not sure what is going on here. I posted about my battery going down quickly. I think I found out why. Applications are STARTING without my input. I did Advance Task Killer-killed all Apps-I pick the phone up 5 minutes later and nearly all of my applications are running. I did NOT start them-some of them are like BBC News, Fox News ETC. I do not want them to be running like that. Not sure why they are starting up.View 9 Replies View Related
My battery started draining rapidly all of a sudden. I had the Seido 1750 battery. I stopped yesterday at the Verizon store and got the 2150 Battery-it is also draining quickly. I guess the Seido battery was not the problem. The battery was fully charged before I left yesterday, but it was drained completely after being off the charger for only 16 hours..5 of them I was sleeping. I do not have the GPS on...etc..None of my setting on my phone changed. I am not sure why the battery is draining so rapidly.View 4 Replies View Related
i bought the full version of systempanel last night, because i installed setcpu and tasker over the weekend and started overclocking - i wanted to try the monitoring service and try to see if there was a drastic effect on my battery... well, the battery DEFINITELY seems to be draining faster than it did yesterday, and the phone seemed to be very choppy when switching between home screens. i disabled monitoring and it seems to be more responsive again.View 4 Replies View Related
Just yesterday my phone was getting more than 14+ hours of battery. Now it's draining really quickly even when I'm not using it (I left it on while I was asleep). It's not facebook because I already downloading the fix and rebooted. My "time without signal" is 0% so I don't think that's the problem. I did download Quickpedia yesterday but a quick search tells me that's not the problem either.
The only other thing I did differently was switch from ADW to LauncherPro yesterday, but if that was draining the battery wouldn't it be under Android System and not standby or idle? Regardless, I switched back to ADW just to see if that works
For some reason my battery is draing QUICK in a couple hours goes dead, thinking must be some bad app? I deleted a few of the last apps I installed but it could be an update, wish it was easier to solve, but now Media is my number one battery usage, even after I uninstalled a couple new apps.View 6 Replies View Related
I have downloaded a number of widgets and apps.is this the reason? Im using Tajm, BattStatt, 3g Watchdog, DroidStats, Internal and external memory notifications, retro clock.Ive got all of these as widgets spread out over the 7 screens.Also guys if your phone was not used all day and locked how much battery would you say would get used?View 22 Replies View Related
After the ota update I went from getting full day battery life with pretty heavy usage to 10 hours. The update was supposed to improve battery life but it made it worse. I tried going a day without using home++ (home replacement app ) and my battery life went from 10 to roughly 36 hours!!! So if you are one of those people complaining about battery life after update like I was,and you are using this app try taking it off. hope this helps some ppl.View 22 Replies View Related
My wife's phone has used almost 4GB of data this month and her battery has been draining much faster than mine, especially at night. Last night we watched in SystemPanel at the Net Receive indicator and it was constantly downloading at least 200+ kps. I had read about some issues with Facebook so we removed the Friendstream widget and saw the downloading go close to zero.
This morning, I checked the 8 hour monitoring in SystemPanel and saw that the CPU activity was still high overnight (running near 30%) and her battery drain was twice mine (over 13% used over ~7 hours, mine was around 5% drain).
I loaded up Spare Parts on her phone and was looked under Battery History, Network Usage and took this picture (sorry about the quality, her screen protector makes it hard to get a good picture and she is not rooted). Can anyone explain what UID 10006 is and why it is downloading so much data? I do not see it listed on my phone in Spare Parts. What do we need to do to turn this off or at least slow it down?
I am using BB V0.4 with Chevys 1.2 ghz ul kernel.My battery meter has been on 100% all morning normally it drains much faster than this. I know there is a CHANCE my battery just isn't being drained because of the 1.2 ghz ul, but it seems pretty slim to me. I have been using it for probably 4 hours without it going down form 100%.View 22 Replies View Related
Battery life issues for me are over. In the beggining I would be happy if the battery lasted for 2 days. Now I can have my phone always on for 7 days straight, that is 168 hrs (when using very limited wireless data connectivity of course), thanks to Galaxhero and some other tweaks.But anyway, lately I've been doing some tests regarding Google Latitude. I suspected that Latitude was messing (not just) a little bit with the battery life.So, yesterday at 9AM I unplugged the fully charged phone that had the Latitude feature on. Result: at 5PM the battery was at 90%.Today, I decided to turn off Latitude (leaving the rest of the configurations intact) and unplugged the fully charged phone again at 9AM. Result: it's 5PM and the battery status is at 100%.View 6 Replies View Related
What is up with this program? Everytime I open task killer it shows Amazon MP3 as running.I have NEVER used Amazon MP3. Amazon MP3 came with the phone, yet my carrier won't support it ( cough Sprint ), they say call the application provider.I can't get a phone number to Android to give them a piece of my mind.I call Amazon and get sales people that don't want to listen and dump me on anyone they can find and are the wrong people. Why can't I get support? Why can't I uninstall Amazon MP3?I don't want Amazon MP3, not if it is going to run all the time and drain my battery.View 8 Replies View Related
A while ago I got rid of Handcent because it was very laggy following updates.Having heard this had been fixed, I have downloaded it again and it's no longer laggy which is great.However, it is draining the battery. I know this because I've had the System Panel monitor on, and the history shows that the CPU usage for Handcent is high for about 15-20 minutes after I send a message (as opposed to the stock, which just goes down as soon as I've sent a message).Is there a setting somewhere on Handcent that I'm missing, that's keeping the CPU usage high?View 22 Replies View Related
Just wanted to get a feel for what the consensus view in this area is, as i'm slightly torn.On one hand i've read online (here I think, and elsewhere) that fully draining the battery regularly is bad for it and will damage its cells. (I'm not sure what regularly means, daily/weekly/monthly?) Hence i'm a little cautious to do it.However I tend to get far better batter usage after draining, turning the phone off and doing a full overnight recharge. Little top-ups, like taking it from 60% (where it reached through a day of medium usage) to 100% seems to result in inferior performance.A lot of people on here talk about overnight charging, which i've no problem doing. (In fact i'm used to it as my old Samsung Omnia required it) But 'how' do people do it? As in, do you regularly use 70-80% in a day and then leave it overnight? My current behaviour is to use it throughout the day in during (odd bit of browsing, txting, app usage etc) which can take 50-60%, then get home top-up for an hour or so, which gives me about 40% back, so I know i've got plenty in the evening when out.View 1 Replies View Related
The last day or so after charging my phone to 100% overnight (phone is on when charging) and then putting in standby mode I'm losing like 5-7% of battery every hour.Over the weekend I was losing just 6% every 9 hours in standby mode. Today in 4 hours time I'm down to 65% already with mostly standby mode and a few minutes of browsing. I even had JuiceDefender installed since last night and it's not helping at all.To me it seems that something is in the background that is draining the battery though I when I check running services I don't see anything that shouldn't be there. When I was losing only 6% every 10 hours I did have a live wallpaper, weather/clock widget, and task killer. I didn't change anything on the next charge and now I'm constantly losing battery even in standby mode.
I have Wifi/GPS/background data off, brightness at minimum, no animations, etc. So pretty much followed all the battery saving pointers. I thought it was working good when I got just about 36 hours over the weekend with standby and moderate usage. So I don't know what has happened to my battery all of a sudden.The two times that I have managed to do 30+ hours on a single charge I had Advanced Task Killer running.However, even after doing 36 hours on one charge the next day even with ATK the battery started to drain a lot every hour in just standby. Anyone else having similar issues? I don't know what else to do at this time. I've uninstalled many of the apps thinking it might one of them causing the issue, but still having issues.
Following my last thread for same reason,"full charge battery goes empty in less then 3-4 hours,even with wi-fi,gps, turned off",with tip of you guys,i monitored battery usage with "spare parts" app,first i haven't notice anything unusual: SPARE PARTS gave me very normal cpu usage:1-android system2-browser, but then in the end of list of usage option,i checked other usage & what i found was very interesting:
SPARE PARTS>battery history>other usage>total in all time:
running =time without sleeping 28.1 %
SPARE PARTS>battery history>other usage>since last unplugged:
running =time spend without sleeping 99.999 %
SPARE PARTS>battery history>other usage>total since boot:
running=time spend without sleeping 99.999 %
Now i guess i know why my phone run out of charge in less then 3-4 hours,question is what i have to do about it?
any solution please? previous post:with a full charge battery in STAND-BY, it takes just about 3-4 hours for battery to be empty! help!
also i checked main setting now: setting>about phone>status>Awake time 100%
Battery is draining fast on SGS. comes down from full charge at 4 am to 70% by 8 am without any usage. During the day will have to charge it twice. Any possible causes or tips to manage it? am on EDGE with air-tel but use wi-fi mostly.View 14 Replies View Related
Just got my Nexus One yesterday, and I'm loving it! My only concern is the battery life meter is telling CELL STANDBY 67%?? When you click on it, it says time without signal 50% and then it says thats whats causing battery consumption.
Before I go on, I have no issues with 3G, been getting a solid signal since I got the phone yesterday, just a little confused on what to do? Shouldn't standby SAVE battery?
I know there's supposed to be a update on monday which has a possible fix for the battery but this battery is draining to much. i had my phone on the charger while i took a nap and it charged from 6% to 95% and its been 15 minutes and i am already at 83%, i've messed with the settings to fix the battery but it doesn't seem to have done anything. wtf is up man its like pissing me off how bad the battery is right now what are some of the settings that i should change that i don't need to use or apps i should download to fix it. another thing that really annoys me is why doesn't this phone push like my iphone used to? as soon as something would happen whether it was a new email or something facebook or twitter didn't matter, it would automatically push and be up to date, this evo i have to refresh it for everything whats the deal? and why does the facebook app suck so much on this phone and yet i cant find another facebook app? i cant even accept a friend request on itView 18 Replies View Related
For some reason my battery is draining a lot faster all of a sudden. I went from losing about 6% battery over night to 20%. Can't figure it out. I deleted the most recent apps, turn off 3g and all that. I checked my running services and nothing changed.View 2 Replies View Related
I'm getting a "sync is currently experiencing problems.It will be back shortly" error. The phone continually tries to sync my contacts which is draining my battery. I made sure my login information to google is correct and I just figure out why it won't sync my contacts. When I uncheck "Sync contacts", I don't get the error anymore.
I can't take a screen shot since my phone isn't rooted and the apps that I know of that allows you to grab screen shots require rooting.
I've got a HTC Wildfire and in the last couple of days the battery has started draining really quickly. Usually I could leave my phone overnight with wifi and mobile web etc switched off and the battery would drain by a maximum of a couple of percent but now it's losing 25% of its charge overnight with nothing running. Looking at the battery usages since unplugged 3% is phone idle, 4% cell standby and 93% maps!! I haven't even used the maps for a couple of days so what could be causing this? The only apps I've downloaded in the last couple of days are WordUp!, Air Control Lite and Shopping List manager.View 7 Replies View Related
I'd like to thank the people over at XDA.I think they may have found the culprit for the horrible battery performance some of us are seeing. There are two threads of interest over there:Time without signal > 50% - xda-developers Wow battery from 100 to 10 in 3 hours xda-developers.The short of it is that the 3G signals don't stay locked and the phone keeps hunting.If you go under the battery life settings and click on "Cell Standby" there's a field for "Time Without Service".Mine and many others were hover around 50%.This is constantly draining battery even while you do nothing.So the temporary quick fix is to turn on Airplane mode, then turn it right back off.This fixes some incorrect setting.On my phone, Time Without Service dropped from 52% last night to 0% today.And my battery only dropped about 9-10% idling over night.This is MUCH better than the 30% draining overnight I was seeing over the past few days.View 49 Replies View Related
I noticed this today, I use my phone to USB tether, and after coming home from running errands today my phone was at about 80% battery life, so I put it on the USB cord that it came with and connected it to my computer so I could check email and facebook, etc. Well after a few hours I took my phone off the charger and the battery had dropped to 40%. How is this possible, I know tethering uses power from the phone, but if its connected to the computer and charging as well, why is it still draining my battery? my droid never had this problem and i tethered all the time, is it possible that I have a bad battery?View 4 Replies View Related
I've noticed that for the past few days I have been experiencing lower than normal battery performance with my Eris. I checked the battery sonsumption and it says that it is the camera that is doing it. OK. So I force kill everything (reinstalled a task killer) and opened the camera and closed it again. I always exit an app with the back button, not the home button. Still the problem persists. I noticed that while it was charging last night that the camera was using 100% of my battery. So my conclusion is that whenever I charge my Eris the camera runs in the background even after I take it off of the charger. Is anyone having this problem?View 10 Replies View Related

I got my Eris aroudn the end of Novemeber or early Dec. Conditioned the battery as I followed on here. Now, the past two full charges this weekend haven't lasted at all. Battery draining super fast. I easily get 1 1/2-2 days on full charge, minimal phone useage/text/basic net. Full charge this AM, two texts, maybe 5 minutes total internet and now late afternoon re dlining and low battery level coming on.Defective, shot, or something else? I was getting very low awake time, now I see it is around 50%. I constantly use advanced task killer.View 8 Replies View Related
Got my Desire HD at the weekend, and am really struggling with the battery life, I don't use the phone much at all, couple of calls (less than an hour) checked facebook a couple of times, a read about 5 emails. Charged overnight and then by 9pm last night it was on its last legs telling me to plug it in! I have turned the apps to sync manually under settings-accounts & sync. Already used nearly 50% off the battery today and I haven't even used the phone!View 4 Replies View Related
Maybe this has been talked about before but im going to ask this anyway. A couple of nights ago my battery was at about 30% (yellow) so i decided to turn my phone off and go to sleep, well when i woke up my i turned my hero back on, and the battery was at 9%. So last night the battery was low again and i decided to take the battery out and when i woke up i put it back on and my hero had the same battery life as last nightView 3 Replies View Related
I went to bed at 1am and woke up at 10:20am. My battery was at 65% before bed and 44% when I woke up.
I killed all tasks with advanced task killer as I do throughout the day as well. I don't use the email program on my phone nor do I get any notifications for any other programs. My Wi-Fi sleep policy is set to never because I have Wi-Fi at home. Brightness is at a low setting too. So, any ideas what would be draining my battery during the overnight when I'm not using my phone? I don't have problems during the day when I use it.
I had a quick question i couldn't find the answer to in the forums RE the message app battery drain on the HTC Hero, i disabled both auto-retrieve and notifications in the settings but when i run taskiller it still has messages running and using resources. anyone else have this problem and if you fixed it, what did you do?View 3 Replies View Related

I would like to detect shake movement in a service that is running in the background, even when the phone is not currently being used. Is it true that the only way to do this is to hold a wake lock? I suppose this would consume a lot of energy and drain the battery very fast.Is there no way to wake up the phone whenever a shake movement occurs? Maybe with the native sdk? I would imagine the accelerometer causing some kind of interrupt.View 2 Replies View Related

Since I got my Captivate just a couple of weeks after it hit the market, I experienced really good battery life. I could plug the charger in at 6:00 when I get up, take it off the charger at 7:30 when I leave for work, and make it til the next morning most days.A couple of weeks ago, I left for work with a full charge, and around 11:00 I took out my phone to test WiFi coverage for some new access points we had installed in the office. The phone felt very warm, and the battery indicator was yellow. For the next couple of days it went like this. I had a spare Samsung battery from when AT&T sent us a new one for my wife's Captivate when she was having random shutdown issues, so I swapped batteries. Things were fine for 10-11 days. Then suddenly last evening about 7:30, when I went to look something up online with my phone, it was very warm again, and the battery indicator was red. Had to put it on the car charger when I left church.When I got home, I put it on the charger all night. By midday today, it was in the yellow, and it finally died about an hour ago. again the handset felt very warm. I don't have a spare USB cable here at work, so will have to wait to get home to charge it. Anything particular I should look for on the phone (running apps, etc.)? Or do I just need to go ahead and place a call to AT&T support?View 3 Replies View Related

Then if I just flip screen to screen - another 1% gone in less than 15 secs!!I have searched through the forums but haven't seen if there is a 'fix"I have build 2.26.60534 CL140744 - that's the latest, correct?My Minor issue is signal strength - I use to have 3-4 bars constant and now am lucky if I get 2 - again saw others had the same prob but didn't know if there was a fix besides the *228/2 -I have powered off - taken battery out - that gave it about 10% more juice but still declines rapidly as before.REALLY NEED SOME HELP ON THIS TO PROVE TO MY WIFE I AM NOT A TOTAL IDIOT (please keep those comments to minimum - at least til my problem is fixed) AS "SHE WARNED ME"View 49 Replies View Related
