HTC Incredible : Different Ring Types Per Contact?
Apr 29, 2010
Is there is a way or program that can let the phone ring when my girlfriend calls but keep it on silent for everyone else.
I just moved from a Blackberry and I was able to do it on those phones I see you can have different ring tones per contact. However I sleep during the day (work nights) and i put my phone on silent but on my blackberry i could have a profile set for only my girlfriend and my phone would ring no matter if i had it on silent or not.
Is this possible on a droid?
Id really hate to have my phone going off all day long just so i would be able to hear my girlfriend call.
I have my default ring tone set. I then went under contacts and set certain ring tones for my wife, family etc... I had my wife call me and it rings with the default ring tone. I have tried everything and nothing seems to change. Anyone that calls that I have a preset ring tone for, it just uses the default for the phone.
I had a blackberry before the Incredible and I used to use Funtonia - 3 Million ringtones, real music MP3 ringtones, iPhone ringtones for your cell phone for my mp3 ringtones. Is there a way to download and set custom ringtones for each contact?
I miss my Blackberry choices for notification, in particular, phone only. A quick one press button for ring, vibrate, ring phone only, silent. I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.
I have an issue with using contacts on my droid. From within 'contacts' i hit the 'display options' then selecting the email account I see the drop down for system contact groups-friends, family, coworkers. I am wondering if there is any way to create additional contact types or groups? As in I have a specific group of contacts from one website I want to add to a group--can you create a contact type or contact group?? I can't find the option when adding a new contact or when within the display options as mentioned before.
Any apps that allow you to change rings tones of Contacts? I don't need one that creates ring tones, has ring tones, etc. Just one that will let me have phone calls use different ring tones depending on who the contact is.
I'm using Timeriffic to turn my ringer and notification volume off at night. However, if I get a call from some of my contacts, I would like my phone to ring. Is there a way to set up my phone so that some contacts will be able to ring my phone, even if the ringer volume is off?
Buyed a samsung galaxy s a couple days ago and had no peoblems woth it except today noticed then when somebody calls me rhe phone rings quietly at first and then rongs normal, the sound gradualy increases from small volume to gighter , how can i .make it ring loudly from the start ?
My desire will not always ring the sms ring notifier when i recieve texts, it annoyed me so much that i decided to do a warranty swap, and the new one does the same thing!is this a standard android thing? it seems to me that if i have recieved or sent a text to somebody within 30 minutes, it will not ring, as though it expects me to be hovering over my phone staring at it for a reply, is this a normal issue? and is there a way to fix it?
I'm planning a solo camping trip for a week. Is there a way to make my htc incredible go into a mode where it only receives texts or phone calls from one person?
So: no email, news, weather, other texts, other voicemails, app updates...
I'm thinking it should be called Retreat Mode or Weekend Mode
I still want to have to phone on so my wife can reach me if she wants to but so I don't feel like I need to leave it behind or turn it off to avoid the other distractions. And I don't want a 2nd cell phone just for that purpose. maybe it's a long tasker script?
I am wondering what kind of ringtone app everybody is using, or are you even using an app? I am looking to download some ring tones and if anybody can help me find a good place or app to do this please let me know.
My phone will sometimes not ring at all when I receive an incoming call. It will be waiting for me to pickup, but nothing will be coming out of the speakers. Also, sometimes when someone calls it rings and rings on their end and go to my voice mail, but my phone will not even register that they called. Oh, and it randomly revolted once or twice just sitting there. I am probably going to exchange my phone, but I wanted to see if that is the best course of action.
I have done a search for this and I have not found answer. I have inadvertently created some of my contacts as phone contacts instead of google contacts. The main negative of this is that I can not sync these contacts. Does anyone know of way to change the contact type? My phone is rooted if that makes a difference. In another thread relating to this someone mentioned an app that fixes this but I could not find it. Does anyone know of the app?
Is there a way to make custom ringtones easily and send them to your phone? This is my first real smartphone (had a Storm gen 1 before this, it didn't work often enough for me to consider it my first) and I'm enjoying it but I'm a bit of a nub.
I have had my Droid Incredible for about two months now. I was really one of the lucky ones!! I usually can fix problems by myself, because I am skilled in Android, but this one I have to turn to my friends in the Android community and ask for some assistance. Next, the phone will randomly change my ringtone. Next, the Sense clock/weather widget displays a location that I don't even live in, and sometimes it will show just a number. How I can fix this, without rooting (waiting for official Froyo).
My Incredible rings when there's a visible screen. When the screen darkens and phone enters sleep after, in my case 1 minute of non-use, any calls coming in do not ring through. Voicemail picks them up but there is no indication that I have an incoming call unless I wake the phone up and check the upper left hand menu for the voicemail icon. This can't be set up right. When the phone is asleep (dark screen) but not powered off, there has got to be a setting that lets calls ring through and awaken the phone so it can be answered.
I made the connection between my service WCF and my app android. But i'm wondering if u have ideas about using complex types (classes created on the server side). should i implement the serialization process? or should i juts create the classes on my client side(android)
We can launch the app in two ways, 1 is form the app, clicking on device back button till we reach the android home screen and launching the app or 2nd is from the app we can click the device home button and then we can launch.
How can we differentiate these to launches? In 2nd type launch onrestart will be called, onrestart will be called in some other cases also. I want to do something in the 2nd type of launch. Can any one tel me how to do this...
I am currently using the 2 Gb SD card that came with the handset, which I bought from the UK. I am on holiday in Japan and found a 16GB SD card for under 25 pounds. I took it to the counter, but the guy said that it was a `high speed` card and that he wasn't sure if it would be usable in foreign products. So if the card fits in the phone, does the `high speed` aspect of the card possibly render it useles? I wanted to try it first but he couldn't let me. I want to know because we all know how much these cards are in the UK, around 40 pounds i think? So I would be looking to get one for me and my friend who has a hero.
I've been working with Android for well over a year now, but I still have trouble determining when different types of messaging/communication between processes/threads should be used. I'm mainly talking about broadcasting Intents, using AIDL for services, using Handlers to send messages and socket communication.
Many of these tools can be used to accomplish similar tasks, but which is better suited to particular situations?
