HTC Droid Eris :: App To Auto-delete Message Threads

Dec 2, 2009

I have been searching but so far have not found the answer to this question: is there an app to automatically delete threads when they get to a certain length or if they have been inactive past a certain date?

My old phone just autodeleted the oldest text once you got past 100, and while it is nice to have more memory than that I do not want to go through my threads and manually delete them to stop them from taking up too much memory. anyone know/use such an app?

Motorola Droid :: All Threads Automatically Gone - Auto Delete Turned Off

Dec 26, 2009

First of all I am very pleased with the Droid (including the keyboard) and Android OS 2.0. Have been playing with it since december 13th and I especially love the texting app. In my home, Berkeley CA, it worked great, but now in Puerto Rico there seem to be some glitches. I turned off the auto delete messages because I prefer that. Not sure if its because I disabled the auto delete or because I am in Puerto Rico, but randomly when I go to my texting app, all my threads will be gone. This has happened to me twice now within a week.

HTC Incredible : Way To Delete Auto-Correct?

Jun 26, 2010

Is there a way to delete auto-correct suggestions? I'm typing to my gf and I get 'bane' instead of 'babe' when I type. I'm not writing a science fiction novel, nothing is the bane of my existance, so how in the hell can I get rid of that godawful word? "Hey Bane of My Existance, want to go out to eat tonight?"

HTC Incredible :: Auto Delete Texts After Certain Time Frame

May 16, 2010

Just curious, is there a way (or an app?) that will help me auto delete texts after a certain time frame has passed? I ask this because I have 2 threads that take EXTREMELY long to load due to the large number of texts within each (one has 1,300 texts, the other has 940). It is starting to get annoying having to wait 7-10 seconds for the thread to load. I have actually tried manually scrolling up and deleting the oldest texts but that was just WAYYY too much work and it took probably a good minute just to get to the top.

HTC Incredible :: Application On 2.2 Doesn't Auto Delete News Stories

Sep 6, 2010

I've been using the new HTC News app that came with 2.2. There is no settings option to set a limit on the number of stories. Refreshing the stories just keeps adding them on, but it appears you have to erase them manually, which seems pretty bad given there are over 200 stories and growing on mine right now. Have I got this right?

HTC Incredible :: Unable To Delete Email Message

Nov 24, 2010

I've been enjoying my Incredible since launch.Today I got a "SoAndSo is now following you on Twitter" message, and I can't delete it.If I long-press the message in my inbox and select "Delete" from the menu, I get a "The Application Mail (process...) "Force Close" message and I have to restart mail. This error and behavior is repeatable. If I select "Menu -> Delete" from the in-box, the message dissappears, and is not available to "select" for deletion. If I try and just select the message to read it, the screen quickly flashes as though it were about to open the message, but immediately returns to the inbox screen. If I get a new message, I am able to delete it with no problem. It seems to be specific to only this message.

HTC Hero :: Can't Delete Large SMS Threads / What To Do?

Apr 14, 2010

I searched the forum but couldn't seem to find an answer relating to the Hero. Im trying to delete large sms threads (700+ messages) but have been unable to do it. Basically nothing happens and if I keep pressing 'delete all threads' the phone just freezes. I have tried it then left the phone overnight to see if it just needed time, I have also tried keeping the backlight constantly lit for around 15 mins in case that affects it but still nothing. Any suggestions? I am using handscent if that makes any difference.

HTC Droid Eris :: Message Threads

Feb 10, 2010

How the message threads work? I create a new message and it logs it in what ever thread was last. If I reply using messages sometimes it sends to wrong person.

Example:
I txtd person#1. then person #2 txtd me. opening messages I replied to person #2. but it went to person #1. my only guess is it goes to whom ever created the thread. very bad app. still trying to figure this out?

Like how to reply to the correct person and whom its going to. in threads?

If you swipe from right to left you will get a "MESSAGE" button.

General :: ISMS Grab / Now Can't Delete Text Threads

Jan 18, 2013

Just switched from the iPhone 4S to the Galaxy S3. I wanted to transfer my small handful of text messages from the iPhone to the S3. I found an app called iSMS Grab, and was able to accomplish this pretty easily. However, now the stock messaging app seems sluggish and, when I try to delete older threads, they just won't delete. I've tried doing so with a long press and thru the Menu button. I then uninstalled the iSMS Grab app, cleared data thru Settings > Apps > Messaging > Clear Data, formatted the microSD card, and even removed the SD card - and they still won't delete!

I know the ultimate fix is a factory reset, but I have over 1100 contacts that I've spent a full day configuring ringtones and Caller ID photos. I'll reset if I must, but hopefully I can get some feedback from experienced users here. This is my first day with an Android phone.

Jun 2, 2010

I imported text messages from my old phone, but they didn't merge with the contacts who had texted me on my new phone.

For example: if I had 5 texts already on my HTC Desire from John and then I imported 40 texts from my old phone from the same number (John), then they have two separate threads of "John" rather than merging into one thread with 45 messages. Anyone know how to merge these threads?

HTC EVO 4G :: Opens Up Text Message Threads That I Didn't Tap

Jul 7, 2010

I've been finding that since the update, my phone opens up text message threads that I didn't tap. This mostly happens when I am going through menus quickly because I'm in a hurry. For example, I'll have one text thread open, hit the "back" button to go back to the list of all the threads, tap the thread at the top of the screen (or anywhere really), and it opens up an entirely different thread. It's not like it's opening the one right above or below it because I didn't tap accurately most of the time it opens up a thread that was so far down that it wasn't even shown on the screen. When I'm in a hurry I've sent texts to people that I didn't mean to send them to.This is really annoying.anyone else having this problem?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Stock Messaging App Slow To Delete Threads?

Jul 15, 2010

I am trying to delete large text messaging threads in the stock messaging app on my Sprint HTC Hero. It is taking an inordinate amount of time to accomplish this task. I deleted one thread that had a mere fifteen texts in and that took over ten seconds. Now, I just tried deleting a thread that has one hundred texts in and it has been minutes and it still has not deleted the thread. Has this happened to anyone else? Would deleting the data in the "Manage Applications" section delete these texts faster or would that be inadvisable? In my opinion this deletion lag is ridiculous.

HTC Droid Eris :: Text Message Threads Merging Together

Nov 12, 2009

I'm trying to figure out why my text message 'conversations' are merging so that they get lumped under one main 'person'?

I've only had the phone a couple days, so not a ton of messages yet. But a couple of times now, all messages have gotten 'lumped' together under one user, regardless of who they are received from or sent to.

The first time it happened, I cleared the entire thread. But now it's happening again. Even forwarding a message to someone else gets included in the same thread.

But it seems as if the messages are going to the right people, not sure. The problem is hitting 'reply'. Not sure who will get it.

Last night I downloaded the Handcent SMS client, and am using that now (disabled the notifications, etc., in the default SMS client). The HTC SMS widget seems to work OK with the Handcent client thankfully, but it is only showing the last 'conversation' of a long thread. So not sure if it's a default message app issue or not.

Using the stock Message Delete just results in a force close after a few minutes, and using the app called SMS Quick Delete results in nothing at all, even after running for almost half an hour.
