Sprint HTC Hero :: Save People Contacts With Multiple Numbers In Address Book?

May 26, 2010

Okay, I don't even know how to search for this question, so I am just going to ask it.

I've only been an Android/HTC Hero user for about a week now, and have a weird thing happening with my Hero. I've probably done something to cause this, but, I can't figure it out.

I have several contacts in my People list, and most of them have multiple phone numbers listed with them. When I choose People, and then say my sister, who has two mobile numbers, a work number and a home number, I get a small detailed card that pretty much fills the screen and allows me to choose a number to call mobile, call home, call work, then it says send message to each number, send email.

But, say when I choose my wife, I can only Call Other, Edit Contact, Delete Contact and Send Contact as vCard.

It didn't used to do this. It used to give me these choices for my wife too. My wife has a home number, a cell number, a truck number, I need to be able to text her cell, etc. Basically, I need the same options for her as I have for my sister.

I have the same issue with many of my contacts. I don't know what happened to cause this. Any help fixing this would be much appreciated. Hopefully, I won't have to do a master reset to do so!

Android :: Gmail Address Book On Web Contains Field For Birthdays - Why Not In Address Book

Sep 10, 2009

The Gmail address book on the Web contains a field for birthdays, so why not the Android address book? While I'm sure the app could undergo a lot of changes (and everyone would have different ideas) something as basic as a birthday seems obvious.

HTC Droid Eris :: Unlink Gmail Contacts And Address Book

I'm sure plenty of people have wanted to the same as I am asking but I'm not sure how to handle it.. Basically I do NOT want a contact to pop up into my address book on my Droid Eris every time I email someone new. I understand the convenience of having the two contact lists linked but on the other hand the option not to have them together must be available.

Motorola Droid X :: Way To Transfer Contacts / Address Book From AT&T To Verizon?

I just got my Droid X today, and while I haven't had much time to play with it, I'm loving it already One thing I realized, however, is that it will be a pain to put every number from my old address book into the one on my DX. Is there any way I can do this without entering every single number manually? I have a Motorola Karma QA1 on AT&T with all my numbers on it, and I want to get them on my Droid X.

Anyway, I want to get rid of them so I just see my phone contacts (phone numbers only).

HTC Incredible :: Forget Google Map Address Book App / Create Groups In Contacts

Jul 13, 2010

This is for people who use GPS a lot. Before I would create groups just for my texting, but Navigation works great too. Took a wine trip to Santa Barbara. Had a few places (hotel, boat cruise, wineries, Santa Barbara Mission, some restaurants, that taco stand Julia Child made famous, etc.), and just created a contact for each. No inputting on phone or using voice, it's already done.Had concert @ Hollywood Bowl. They have shuttle service at some offsite locations like the LA Zoo or in Studio City. I just create a group called Concerts, and copy and paste address from website.Meeting friend at bar never been to? Already have a Group called Bars. Just copy and paste address, and your done.I have groups for everything. Family, San Francisco, San Diego friends, Hotels, Bars, sporting venues, whatever. I cross link whenever I can, Just hit People and slide over to Groups. The whole goal for me is just to hit buttons, and not have to input anything when I'm on run. Use it like AppBrain. So much easier to manage everything from Google contacts page. Just copy and paste eveything.Best part is, can delete or add anytime. Also saves me battery since doing stuff on computer, and everything is synced automatically.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Poor Battery Charge / Can't Add Contacts To Address Book?

Jul 2, 2010

I was aware of the poor customer reviews of the x10's battery life, but it's turned out to be much worse than expected.

I will take the phone off of charge at 8am and ensure that no tasks or apps are running, not use the phone throughout the day, then by 3pm the charge level is around 30%. Often, if I don't start charging the phone at that point at work, the phone will run out of charge completely by around 4pm. I check throughout the day and tasks are not running, so how is the charge being lost so quick?!

This problem is not getting better: I read customer reviews saying that the battery problem improves after around the first month, but my case is the opposite - it started to get even worse after the first month!

I am also having a problem with adding contacts to the address book - all of a sudden it seems that I cannot add new contacts. I will add one contact, go back to the address book and see the new contact being displayed in the list, but when adding a second new contact both the first and second new contacts disappear. I do not have a problem with phone memory, I have tried saving to both SIM and memory, have tried backing up my address book in case that makes a difference, have switched the phone off/on again, but all to no avail. I have tried adding a new number to an existing contact and the new contact seems to disappear. It goes without saying that I have read the x10 instructions on this subject (and it goes without saying that I make sure to press save/done when adding the new entry).

It's got to the point where I am starting to regret choosing the X10. On the face of it, this is an excellent phone, but two relatively simple problems are ensuring that I feel like I own the poor man's smartphone (dare I say it, I wish I chose an iPhone now).

I checked with both my network operator and the shop I bought it from - unfortunately I am outside the 28 day initial period (I am in the UK), so the only recourse offered to me by the shop is to give me £20 to buy either a new battery or to buy a new cheap pay as you go phone so that I can return the handset/battery to SE. The problem with both options is that I am not confident that it will resolve the problem.

Anyone else had any issues like this?

HTC Hero :: How To Use An Android Address Book?

Jan 27, 2010

Could someone please explain to me how to use the address book? I'm so irritated with how user unfriendly the address book... and every contact I've ever contacted is, that I'm nearly ready to jump ship. Usually I go to the dialer, and just type in a name. For instance, when people ask me my work cell number, I have to look it up. Normally, I'll go to the dialer, type in the first three letters of my name, then select the icon on the right to go to my entry. Easy. But when I'm on a call, and someone asks for my number, I go to "people" (or what seems to be the address book) and I type the first three letters of my name and every entry for James Kever shows up as James Kever. So my work number, my email address, my home number... every entry for me shows up... but ONLY shows up as James Kever. I have no idea which of the four entries is my work number. It's the same when I search for other people. I have 6 entries for my brother... all of them say Chris Kever.

On my old Windows Mobile phone in my address book I had companies listed in the "Organisations" field. They appeared in alphabetical order amongst the normal surname, forename entries and it worked really well. While searching my phone desperately for an urgent number today I found that not only does it not display the organisation but it refuses to search by it, making a good 25% of my numbers impossible to find. What can I do this, and please don't say go through all of my contacts by hand putting the business name in the "surname" field because that is so rubbish.

There's some method for deleting these icons without reading all the notifications of all my contacts? Or their disappear by their selves after some time? A problem that I'm having is that I can't jump through the address book (people) by selecting a letter, I have to manually scroll through the entire address book to get to a phone number or contact that I want. On my old phone, there was an alphabetical slide bar, so that I could jump to any letter in my contacts. Now, when I want to call someone with a name starting with the letter Z, I have to manually scroll through my entire address book to get to that name.

General :: Correct Address Format In Address Book And GPS

Jan 23, 2013

I like to add addresses to my phone book in Android. As a lot of my contacts live in buildings i also like to add the floor and apartment number to the address: Looking like that:

Street and Number, Floor and Department number
Town, zip code
State
Country

Example;

Av. Whatever 12345, Floor 5-A
Buenos Aires 1007
Argentina

When clicking on the address the GPS of my wish opens , finds the country, city but not the street because of the additional Floor and department information. Without this additional information everything well with Google Maps or Sygic.

So, how should i add this additional Floor and department information to my address without the GPS has problems to find the main location. Also from ICS on there is only one filed to add the whole address not as with Gingerbread where you had a field for street, city, etc.

HTC Desire :: Address Book Only Gives One Line Of Address

May 30, 2010

Just getting used to my HTC Desire, after reading your forum I was comforted regarding battery life and it seems much better now than the first few days.
I see another post on this but no answer, the address book only gives one line of the address is then any way round this? Even my first pda a Psion 3 had the option of which fields to display etc. there seems very little option to format what is seen, not that I am unhappy about the rest but to have to edit to see all the address is barmy.
Another thing way back then that still is not found is search all fields of the contacts, i.e. to find a number of someone that rang on another phone.
