HTC Hero :: When Sync Contacts With Gmail Account / Phone Only Registers Half Contacts
Jun 13, 2010
When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.
I recently had my phone replaced due to the dust under the screen issue. When I set up my new (refurb) phone with my gmail account, I had tons of contacts in my phone that I had never seen before. The girl at sprint said it imports all of my email contacts, and it looked like they had added contacts from email addresses I had only emailed once, that werent even in my contacts group on my email. They ended up wiping my contacts and transferring them over from my old hero. She said I should create a new gmail account, and use it ONLY for syncing my contacts, that way I dont get all the other email contacts in my phone also. Im wondering how I do this, because I want to set it up before 2.1 comes out for the hero, so when I upgrade to 2.1, I wont have the same issue.
I have searched and read a lot of threads that talk about syncing but still have not been able to find a solution. My problem is, I am wanting to do something so simple, I want to sync my contacts on my phone to my gmail account so that it's backed up (if anything happens to my phone) But i tried going to settings and it wont let me do it (maybe i am doing it incorrectly). Can someone post the correct ways to do this? My default email account is a hotmail account and i have added another email account which is the gmail account.
The GMail account I have and registered to my cell phone when I got it is an account I've had since the first few weeks GMail was in beta by invitation only over 5 years ago. Needless to say, I have hundreds of contacts in that account.
When I activated my Droid, they ALL came over. What a mess. The Verizon guy emptied my contacts on the phone and uploaded my phone book from my BlackBerry.
I want to sync my Droid's address book to a second gmail account I made just for this purpose, but I can't get them to sync over. How do I delegate my phone's contacts sync with that second Gmail account?
I added it under Gmail and logged in. Under Contacts > Accounts, that account sync is ON for contacts and auto-sync & Background data is checked.
Need some help here. I first deleted some of the random contacts that where on my gmail account when i first linked the phone. I even removed the contacts I put in to my phone. How do I relink or sync the contacts i have in my phone with my gmail account? I do not see the contacts that are in my phone on my gmail account. Thats what I am trying to accomplish. How to link the contacts on my phone with my gmail.Contacts won't sync from HTC Eris to GMail Account - Google Mobile Help
I am new to Android. In fact, I am still waiting for my new android device (Samsung Galaxy S),I should receive it within a few days. I would like to do the following: I want to use my gmail account from my phone and have all emails sync on my device. But I do not want to sync my gmail contacts with my "local" contacts (local being the contacts stored on my phone). I only want to sync my emails.
I read on another web site that one guy managed to sync his Outlook contacts with his Android phone contacts, but once he started to configure his gmail account, all his local contacts were automatically saved in his gmail account, and vice versa. Is there a way to use gmail with only emails sync, and without contacts sync? I prefer to be sure that it is possible (and know how to do it) before starting to use gmail on the phone. My Outlook contacts contain lots of professional contacts that I do not want to see in my private gmail account.
I have sync turned on, and have selected contacts and phone. I can access the gmail account from my phone and my PC. When I press the sync button on the phone, the green arrows spin and it syncs.......or so it says. But when I go to my gmail account on my PC, and go to "Contacts", it says there aren't any.
I set up a gmail account on my moms razr the other day after trying to tell her it was better than yahoo. How do I get the contacts that are already synced into her phone to sync with her gmail account?
I was composing a message and the phone got stuck when I was about to select the recipients. (Wanted to group send message so that's why I was not answering directly.) After waiting for a while the phone was still not responding then I forced to shut down and turned it on again. Okay I again edited the same text and tap to choose receivers. Good grief! NO CONTACTS! EMPTY! Why? What happened?
I first tried to sync Gmail contacts back to my Sony Xperia, however when I logged in to Gmail and it was the same! NO CONTACTS!
Long story short, I finally found Myjad Android Contact Recovery which seems to be useful because I want simply the contacts. So any example of trying successfully restoring lost contacts with this program?
I noticed that the Family / Friends / Colleagues groups on Google (the default, unchangeable groups there) aren't synced with my Hero. As a work-around I've created 2 new groups, "My Family" and "My Friends", but this is messy (I end up with both "Family" AND "My Family" on gmail, but just "My Family" on my Hero). Is there any way to sync those basic 3 groups?
Having spent a couple of hours tidying up all My Contacts in readiness to sync with my Hero I was a bit hacked off to find 500+ contacts based upon all my email via Gmail. So thought it would useful to share how to set up the Hero to only sync My Contacts, by default it set to sync All Contacts.
I've checked my phone's sync settings, synced several times, logged in and out of Gmail online to see if anything has been updated. No such luck. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.
As a new user, I had difficulty negotiating this site and finding the best place to post this. There is not an LG Optimus L9 Forum so, if there is a location where this post might encourage more visibility.
I'm running on a Droid (original), and I'm not planning on using one of my old email addresses that has a lot of my contacts on my phone associated with it; is there a quick and easy way to change the email these are associated with? I'm using two different email addresses on my Droid right now and I'd say about 70% of them are on this (soon to be defunct) email. Ideas? Can I export ALL my contacts from my phone and reimport them under another email address?
I am currently downloading 2.1 and wanted to make sure I was able to get all my contacts back. When I go into "contacts" in gmail, everyone shows up. When 2.1 finishes, obviously I will lose everything. Will my contacts automatically show up on my hero once I set up my gmail account on the phone or is there more that I need to do?
Here is the deal, back in Jan when I finally got all my contacts sorted and edit after some issues with sync, I tuned off the Auto sync, with the idea that I would force a sync when I wanted to and I could watch what was going on.I have about 350-375 contacts in my phone currently. I want to play with some 2.1 roms so I need to get these synced to gmail so I dont loose them again. i can not get it to sync. I get :I have tried setting auto sync and still have an issue.
'Sync' is switched on on my phone so I don't know why I need to manually upload my phone contacts from my SD card then attach them & email them to my google account.I just tried to attach phone contacts from SD card to a Gmail to send to my gmail account then log into my PC & import that file into my gmail account from there, but it will only let me attach photos So I tried emailing as an attachment from phone using my yahoo account. That does allow me to attach contacts but it sits there without actually attaching them !I just found I need to tick all contacts to get to attach. So I have to check 200 ticks as there's no check all option !So one by one I tick all & gets sent as 200 attachments in an email. So then download to PC hard drive. Then in Gmail import contacts I have to browse for vCard files. However I can't select all so have to manually browse for each vCard file then import one at a time. There's no option in contacts to select a contact then 'Star in android'.I presume if somethings starred in Android then the sync between phone contacts & gmail should work properly. Even then if you add new contact to phone there's no option in the phone to star it. Code...
I have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.
I've recently (today, earlier & just now) added a few Google contacts to my phone. They don't appear in my contacts on my GoogleMail web page. I've manually synced them on the phone and refreshed the web page to no avail.I created one much earlier on (maybe even yesterday) and it's there. If I create a new contact on the web it appears almost immediately on the phone.
I have a Droid Eris. I have sent my contacts from my phone to my gmail account before. After the Android update I can not send the contacts from my phone to my gmail account. How can I send my phone contacts to my gmail account?
I have searched all around and no answer. I have many contacts that I got onto my phone through my simcard and I want to sync them with gmail. How do I do this? I have a Vibrant. The contacts are also synced to tmobile's online thing, but I don't like the interface.
I have a gmail account with one set of contacts in it and my phone with the updated contacts in it. I want to delete all the contacts in gmail and put the ones from my phone into it. How can I do a one way sync from the phone to gmail. Also if I leave sync contacts with gmail checked I constantly get the too many contacts to delete error.
so i exported all my contacts through the app (exportcontact) to an CSV file, i saved them to my PC, then i uploaded them to my Gmail account. everything went smooth and all my contacts showed up on my Gmail so i went ahead and deleted all my contacts on the phone..but now i cant seem to figure out how to get the contacts back on the phone. ive tried exporting file from Gmail and saved it, then tried to put it back onto my SD but i wont let me.(error msg, cant write onto disk i need to take my phone to telus and have the stupid crackling speaker replaced.
