HTC Hero :: Phone Status Displaying Old Number After Porting From Other Network
Dec 10, 2009
Not really a "problem" per se, but an annoyance.I ported my number across to Orange from Voda but in the Phone Status the MSISDN field is still displaying the old number. It's not that I can't remember my number (it's a memorable no. which is why I wanted to keep it), but it's annoying me as I can't seem to get this field to reflect the change.I've tried rebooting it after leaving the SIM out but no difference. Is this just a "bug" or is it something Orange will have to fix/update for me by sending a request to my SIM or something?
I just switched to the Incredible from BlackJack on AT&T. On the BJ there was a function that would allow me to toggle between hiding my phone # or having it displayed on calls to people w/ caller ID. It would read the setting from AT&T network and allow me to change it directly on my phone.
I prefer to not display my number when I make calls. However, about 20% of my calls are to fed/state/local gov buildings. In many of those cases they do not accept calls from numbers that won't display on caller ID. In those cases, I would just switch the setting.
I can't find anything on this type of capability in the Incredible documentation. According to VZ support, this can be done but only by calling support each time.
I have a quick question for all you geeks here, I was reading a thread about updating the PRL, and when I decided to check what version I was on I also noticed that while scrolling down that the mobile Network State says disconnected, is this normal? I know I have my mobile icon turned on, any input would be great, and also what does updating the profile do?
I want to know if there is a way to change the phone number in Settings> About Phone > Status. It's strange - I've only had the phone a few days, got one at the same time as my wife. For some reason the Phone number according to my device is my wife's number although it definitely has my SIM card in the slot and is functioning with the right number. Whereas my wife's device reads unknown in this field. How can I change it to my number?
Just started with one. But while flashing the ROM i'm getting Status 7 error.
I took RazoDroid ROM which is for Galaxy Fit and SplashMod ROM of Wildfire.
The following are the steps i followed while porting which were guided from here. 1.Extracted boot.img and replaced the kernel from SplashMOD. 2.From the ramdisk changed to init.buzz.rc 3.Repacked kernel. 4.Replaced the following folders/files from SpashMOD
I seem to be seeing an issue with the data network access on the EVO. When it happens none of my applications get internet aceess and my mobile network status says "turning on". The only way I've found to fix it is to pull the battery. Any one else seeing this? If so is there a better fix than pulling the battery?
In my incoming calls r outgng cal it should display the phone number as wel as with network name For eg: 9876543210,Airtel like that. How to do that i am new to android. So anybody help me. whats the way to develop it?
I thought I read this somewhere but cannot find it now, it could have been a dream too. But I thought I read that if you did the pre-order on the Incredible with Best Buy, and then ported your number to Verizon when you picked it up, you would get $50 off the cost of the phone that day. Since I cannot find this, it is starting to look like the SMART30 promo code on VZW's site would be better since you get $30 off the price.
It's been a day and a half since we brought home our Epic and the number is still porting over from Verizon. I've called sprint twice and they said they couldn't do anything. When I ported my number to my Evo from ATT, it only took like 10 minutes.
My girlfriend is getting a smartphone from work, and wanted to get rid of her personal line. She wants to port her personal number to Google Voice, so that she doesn't have to tell everyone her work number. Will porting automatically cancel that line from AT&T or should she call first? If she ported the number and for whatever reason decided she wanted to use it for a personal line again, could she port that number back back to a carrier?
I am displaying an icon in status bar depending up on my condition .upto this it is ok.Now problem in my application is when i come back to application still the icon is displayed in the status bar.I don't want the icon when i come back from the application. For this give me some suggestions
hey, ever since installing the swype beta (which sucks on this phone btw) im getting a red cirlce with a number 2 over it in the status bar. Im pretty sure it is related to swype but im not sure what its trying to tell me...any help?is there any app that takes screen shots so i can post up?
I am writing an app that connects to a telnet server via wifi. I have a service that manages the socket connection. It all works fine, but when the phone sleeps it disconnects the wifi radio, which causes the socket connection to break (and throws a SocketException). I feel like I should be able to set up a a broadcast receiver whose onResume() method is called when the wifi network connection is lost, and that would allow me to gracefully shut down the socket, and re-open it if the network is immediately re-connected. But I can't find anything like that in the doc or via searching.
Android developers can check this code to check the network status on wifi and 3g mobile
You need the following permission to get status view source print? 1 <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></uses- permission> 2 <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE"></uses- permission>
I transferred contacts from my old phone (Samsung Instinct). One of the numbers was a voicemail for another location. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?
You know what I'm talking about: for example when you get multiple new emails the notification icon in the status bar is augmented with a little red circle that contains number of unread mails. Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon?
I need some advices about the Android OS and application.i wonder if the Android OS is able to push network connecting status to applications.(I found applications can get a network connecting status from android OS. But I can't find reverse cases.)However, I am thinking android OS may push network connecting status to applications.when application is installed on android os, is it possible to register something for monitoring phone's network status on android os.Because I want my application can receive phone's network status from android os.(not by asking directly to android os.) It means: when phone's network status changes, does android os automatically informs phone's network status to application?I'm sorry my English writing is bad TT;
I have a PDF of a phone list.I want to access it from time to time and dial a phone number off of it. However, I cannot click the phone number. Is there a way of having a PDF reader that recognizes phone numbers (and email addresses) and allows you to click those features in order to dial (or send an email)?
I have noticed when I go into my address book that phone numbers appear as (XXX) XXXXXXX. The number for text messages appear as (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Has anyone else seen the dash being left off for home / work / mobile numbers? Not a big deal.
Well Sprint pissed of a co-worker of mine after a few days after the 30 day mark and now wants nothing to do with Sprint. He loves the phone but like I said will have nothing to do with Sprint network. So I am wondering if he has any options with using it on any other network by possibly flashing the phone or something.
I believe he has settled everything with Spring paid the early termination fees and payed up on his bills. So does he have any options now?
I was wondering if it is possible to give the HTC Hero a network name. For example when i look at my routers status it lists all connected devices. My-PC, Sister-PC ect... and the MAC address of each device, as it should.
However the HTC Hero name field is left blank. I know it is the Hero seeing as the MAC matches the device. Does anyone know if it's possible to give the phone a network name?
