HTC Hero : How To Make Complete Backup Image Of Phone?

Sep 4, 2009

I plan on buying an HTC Hero when they release it next month for Sprint. Is there a way that I can make a complete backup image of the phone in it's original state before I inevitably screw something up on it?

Sprint HTC :: How To Make A Complete Backup Of My Hero?

May 7, 2010

I am using My Backup Pro to backup my phone. While it does a good job it only does a selective backup. Is there a program that I can use on my stock phone to do a more comprehensive backup? Maybe a mirror backup like Nandroid?

General :: How To Make Really Complete Backup (FTF Files For Flashtool)

Oct 14, 2012

I search for a way, to make a complete backup. Because i will test some other roms. Complete backup mean somthing like the ftf files for Flashtool. a backup from kernel, rom and personal data's in one way with one file or folder that i can restore later. I think, that this not is possible with Smartphone on, so it must be a way with pc and Smartphone in Flash- or Fastboot mode?

HTC Hero :: Can Not Make Nandroid Backup

Apr 24, 2010

I have achieved rooting of my sprint hero cdma phone, but can not get to nandroid backup. i attempted to recovery reboot and it freezes at the htc screen, multiple times. i did luckily backup everything from my sd card and my apps/data before i did anything so i can get back to basics at least with root. i have formatted my sd card, and replaced it with everything that was on there directly after rooting. i can do a speedboot and see the menu to do the backup option, but i get the same results.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Flashing Recovery Image And Nandroid Backup?

Nov 10, 2009

I have already rooted my hero but I did not flash a recovery image or perform a nandroid back up mostly because I could not find clear instructions on how to do so, which caused me to have to completely wipe my phone and start over after I deleted some programs that caused my loop over and over. I know the commands I need to run in adb to flash the recovery image but I do not know where to download the recovery image or where I need to store it I also can't find anything on nandroid back could somone please explain these in detail with the steps I need to take so I don't need to start from square one again.

General :: How To Do Complete Backup Of Android

Sep 12, 2012

I've recently switched from an iPhone 4 to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Any software that does a complete backup of phone to my PC similar to what iTunes does for the iPhone? Note: I would prefer not to root the brand-new phone since I understand that voids the warranty. Also, a backup to SD card is not possible since the phone does not include one.

HTC Desire :: Backup Not Complete / SD Card Cannot Be Accessed

May 12, 2010

I've had my Desire for about a month and a half now, but have been having problems with my SD Card, which seem to be getting worse. Intermittently I get a message saying something along the lines of 'the backup can't complete as the SD card cannot be accessed'. I also sometimes experience the problem trying to snap a photo, only to be told that there is no SD card (which of course is really annoying). When this happens I can still see the card using the ES File Explorer, including seeing the contents, but if I try to open a file (e.g. a photo) I can't view it.

I have searched the forums/the Internet and the general recommendation seems to be to reformat the card which helps for some people. Someone also suggested the SDMount widget to remount the card when it happens. I've tried using two different cards (the included 4GB card + a 16GB Sandisk card), reformatted both several times, but I still get the problem. I ran a memory card test tool on the 16GB card and couldn't find a problem. The only way I've found to get access back is to unmount the card and then restart the phone. Does this mean my phone is faulty, or could it be some software causing the problem?

General :: Complete Image Of Motorola Xoom?

Mar 19, 2014

Is there a way that I can create a complete image of a motorola xoom and a complete image of a motorola xoom 2 and then copy that image to another device of the same type? We have about 40 of each kind and when I have to reinstall I have to go to each of the 4 fastboot processes in order to rebuild each device when someone messes up on of them. The Xooms are not rooted and are not assigned to any service providers. MZ604 and MZ607. I was thinking along the lines of when I would create an image of a computer and image another computer. If this is not possible how could I just copy all the apps from one device to another device of the same kind. I know a little about fastboot and RSD lite.

Motorola Droid : Complete Guide To Backup / All Of My Apps - System Data

Jul 2, 2010

I run the risk of getting flamed for this... but I deem it a worthy thread, as things are constantly changing. I haven't found an up-to-date thread that has satisfied me yet.

I recently joined the Android community with my purchase of the Moto Droid. After a few days, I became interested in the rooting process and gave it a go... upgrading to Froyo. There have been several ROMs I've tried out, but I'm very hesitant to try more due to backups.

Will somebody provide me (in words or a link) the best way to backup all of my applications and data when testing out a new ROM? I tried Titanium Backup (and even donated), yet I never have successfully restored from a backup. Some applications and system data restore, but a ton of apps don't install, and I have to re-enter my email accounts (and appropriate sync settings) every time. This and the number of apps it doesn't restore (especially Swype) makes it not worth messing around with.

I read something about Nandroid backup, but that just looked like it was a backup in case something went terribly wrong with a ROM or something of the sort. Also, it looked like in the Simply Stunning (ChevyNo1) 4.2, there was a built in backup script... but I'd like to be able to venture between ROMs.

I want to be able to backup all of my apps and system data (gmail accounts, sms, etc), install a new ROM, and reload all of my apps and data.

Android :: OOM After Image View Make Phone Unresponsive

Sep 16, 2010

My app, among other things, downloads and displays images from the Internet. Some might be too large and trigge an OOM when ImageView.setImage() is called. Of course, this normally makes the application to crash. I've put catch (OutOfMemoryError e) around the method invocation. I know that catching errors is unusual, but in JSE applications it proved to work pretty good, especially when the problem was due to image manipulation that consumed all the memory. The Android app seemed to survive for a while, but then it blocked the computer. All buttons are irresponsive, even though the phone seems still alive (e.g. it's playing the audio notification that new email has been spotted). I tried holding the power button, it triggered the shut down menu, but touching a menu option didn't do anything. Only after a while, the phone became responsive again.

Now, it's reasonable that one can't display everything on a smartphone; I'm sure there's some inefficient memory management I'm doing (perhaps keeping too many images in memory); ok, I have to improve my code. Given that I'll do, how can I add some safety facility to avoid the most severe consequences? Making an irresponsive application it's a 100% sure way to make people to uninstall my app and give bad reviews. I'm thinking of a two-pronged safety approach: 1) whether it's possible to understand in advance whether an image is too large to be rendered by itself;
2) whether it's possible to recover from an OOM in any case.

HTC :: A Complete Noob / Hero ROM Update

Sep 5, 2009

Last night I updated the ROM on my Orange UK HTC hero with the hope that it would take away the lagginess and make it a much more usable phone. My knowledge of android as of last night was; I had no clue what rooted/unrooted meant(I am still not totally sure) or what a ROM was or did. I will go into the method I used further down. Firstly, the results are amazing! The phone runs faster now with all my applications open than it did before after using task killer. When I say all applications I mean Google Maps, Skymap, places directory, robodefense, youtube, beebplayer, camera, pktauctions and many more, all open and still no lag on the phone. The process to upgrade the Hero is in two parts both of which are demonstrated in two videos from unlock.com. Part 1 The first video (linked below) is relatively simple, the only pitfall I found was with the second file you need to download. It is insinuated that you need to unzip/extract the file on your pc before you copy it to your phone's sd card. This is not the case, by extract he means just copy and paste the required file from out of the zip and onto your sd. Code...

Sprint HTC Hero :: Any Way To Backup Contacts From Phone To Gmail Or Pc?

Feb 8, 2010

When I got my HTC Hero a few days back, I instantly noticed I cannot bluetooth my contacts. So I spent over hours trying to figure out a way to do it and eventually forced me to create all my contacts in my PC (which I just import/exported to my gmail account), but that took me about an hour or 2. So I was wondering if there was some way I can backup my contacts FROM the phone, directly onto gmail, or a contacts file. Because I know I will get contacts, and this information will be helpful in the near future. Also, please check out my other thread. My HTC is having major Awake issues.

Android :: How To Make A Hero Into A Phone?

Jan 16, 2010

I just took delivery of my HTC Hero (T-Mobile G2 Touch) and its got so many toys, its unbelievable! However, after the initial honeymoon period, I decided it might be an idea to set the phone up for use as a phone. This is where the Hero is sadly lacking - I gave up on Nokia years ago because you needed to download apps to make the apps work, and it seems that HTC have taken on a few ex-Nokia employees as their design team. My main criticism is the exclusion of the most basic function of being able to set a custom sms tone. I'm not one of those that subscribe to the idea that connecting your phone to a pc and sifting through loads of files and folders called 'dit' 'dat' 'dot' 'com' and 'bollox' is any fun at all, and am a firm believer that ALL of these functions should be able to be accessed from the phone itself. Sure, a usb connection is useful, but should NOT be a necessity. With all that in mind, I found the following to be essential in turning a HTC Hero back into a phone.

General :: Initial Backup / Image For New Device

Mar 14, 2014

I'm used with my Windows computers to make a genuine unstarted system image (Ghost, now Acronis)

When I have a new computer, I take out the main HDD and make an image or boot with an Acronis boot disk and make an genuine image, can I do something similar with Android devices?

Is EFS the system image or just the system files, restoring an EFS backup is enough to make a device bootable again without Root?

Windows PC suitable for this? ADB I guess...

Perhaps it's not possible because I haven't see any topic about making an genuine image before first start of an new device or restoring a factory image... Every time Root is involved.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Is 2.0 Gonna Make Phone Less Laggy?

Nov 8, 2009

So far my Hero is pretty good, and I LOVE Sprint's service (I had AT&T and regularly dropped calls. I have not had a single dropped call since I switched to Sprint) and prices. However, my biggest complaint about the phone is the lag. It's such a slow phone.I mean, for most usage it's fine. But often when I'm trying to bang out a text or email, the keyboard lags a lot. Sometimes it thinks I'm still holding down the delete key and ends up deleting everything I wrote unless I stop it. The thing takes forever to switch to landscape. And using the music player makes the phone even worse (not to mention the music player just kinda sucks... I think I'm gonna get a Zune HD). So will 2.0 address these issues? Or is this a limitation of the comparatively old hardware in the phone? I want to love this phone, but when I can get a more mature Blackberry that's not as laggy and has a hardware keyboard, it's hard to do so. Droid looks nice but VZW is expensive, AT&T sucks, and T-Mo is cheap but has very little 3G coverage.
