HTC Hero :: How To Put Applications In SD? (Internal Memory Running Low)

Sep 1, 2009

I have been trying moving applications to SD card but failed when I go to terminal and use CP command. Is anyone done applications to SD card and if yes how can somebody share some details please. A to Z. My hero is already root, just running out of space on my internal memory. Its sad that HTC don't allow to put applications on SD. Love to have an option to ask where do you want to install the apps?

HTC Incredible :: Applications Cannot Be Stored In 8GB Internal Memory

Apr 19, 2010

It has be reported that Apps cannot be saved in the 8gb internal memory but in the 512mb rom. Is that a problem for anybody? Reviews from Infosyncvideos and the androidcommunity stated the problem. I dunno how big apps are but it shouldn't be a big problem.

HTC Incredible :: Lot Of Applications Not Work With Internal Memory?

Jun 6, 2010

I know a lot of apps using microsd for storage. I am not talking about the app themself I know they are limited to the storage in ROM I am just talking about data the app reads/write. I was searching why my maps weren't working with the weather channel app and found this thread:
http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/71829-weather-channel-radar-not-working.html

Also tried to download and use Epicurus and it crashes every time (thinking it stores usage data on your MicroSD. I'm theorizing because I don't have a microsd card in my phone and maybe a lot of apps have trouble using the incredible internal 8GB of memory? Thinking on buying a 8GB MicroSD card just for this.

HTC Wildfire :: Low Internal Memory / Trying To Move Applications To SD

Nov 11, 2010

This is extremely annoying since I have a new 32GB memory card class 6. There's about 11mb of internal memory on the phone left and I have tried to move applications to memory card but some don't have this feature. I have used swapper2 but this only makes the problem worse. I have a rooted HTC Wildfire mobile with the WildPuzzel rom installed.

Low on memory and the phone is slowing down and is becoming unresponsive some times. Completely ridiculous how the device comes with only 500mb of internal memory, since this is a smart phone/computer that's not very smart. Is there a method to use the memory card as internal storage space or as ram. As mentioned I used the swapper2 programme with no success. Any other hacks, I have tried over clocking but don't want to use this. I want to address the issues of low memory.

I have some games that take up about 20mb of ram:
galigochaser 18.7mb
hungry shark 11mb
speed forge 7.3mb

Just an example of application that I would like to move but the feature is not built in the application.

Since the 8gb with in the i7500 is flash and built in, does the phone use this to store apps/games? Or does it store it in the RAM? If it's in the RAM thats now a lot of space for apps/games especially when some are pretty big files.

HTC Desire :: How Many Applications Can Be Installed On Internal Memory Without Rooting?

May 13, 2010

I am getting a Desire next week. How many apps you can install on the internal memory without 'rooting' it? I'll probably install a lot of apps when I get mine next wednesday (I already have made a list of over 30!) and I would really like to avoid rooting it as it will probably void the warranty and I am not sure I could do it anyway - even after reading the step by step guide a few times over. How many apps have you all managed to fit in before getting the memory low message that some have reported?

HTC Desire :: Can Applications Be Stored In MicroSD Instead Of Internal Memory?

Apr 1, 2010

The HTC Desire has limited memory of around 570Mb RAM and 512Mb ROM. The MicroSD card can hold up to 32Gb. So, why can't HTC allow apps be stored in MicroSD card? If HTC/Google's concerned about piracy issues, i.e. copies of apps from microSD card to another microSD card, etc. There is one way round to this problem: They could have installed some kind of unique crypto-key within the Desire's ROM, and any apps saved to the microSD card are automatically encrypted on-the-fly with this crypto-key.

When apps are accessed, it is decrypted on-the-fly, too. In other words, apps will ONLY work with THAT phone it shares the SAME crypto-key. Putting a microSD card containing apps into another Android phone will not work, thus solving the piracy issue. Therefore, a message to HTC: Please allow apps to microSD card (as much as 32Gb card) and BEAT iPhone/Nokia N900 at their game!

Motorola Droid X :: Applications In Internal Memory And Android Folders

Oct 17, 2010

Couple of questions regarding internal memory and the Android folders. I have over 125 apps on my phone, but I have hardly put a dent in my internal memory space. So my questions are:
1) Why is it helpful to move apps to SD if they take up such little space?
2) If I want to put *data* in internal memory (possible?), or in an Android local folder *not* on the SD card, where is the best place to put it?

HTC Wildfire :: Internal Memory / Limited Space To Store Applications

Oct 12, 2010

Been thinking of getting a wildfire, it looks like a good phone for the price range I'm in. However today I've read something about the HTC desire that it suffers with a lack of internal memory and this limits the amount of apps available you can store on it (because you cannot store onto SD card) Does the wildfire have the same problem as this, and if it does will it be rectified with the release of froyo?, or is there anyway around it? It seems a shame to have all these apps available on the Android Market but only a limited space to store them on.

Motorola Droid :: Applications Live In 256MB Internal Memory Only

Nov 16, 2009

It was too bad to hear about the fact that the Applications live and function within the Droid's 256MB of internal memory instead of utilizing all of the micro-SD space that the phone can have. This really hurts the Droid's ability to compete with the iPhone on things like handheld gaming since programs have to stay very small in order to not take up all your phone's space.

Games can get quite large. I had an old Palm V back in the day, and I do recall being able to eventually run applications off of the SD card. This was nice. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think there will be apps that allow Droid to run apps off of the SD card?

HTC Incredible :: Memory Leak / No Applications Running

May 3, 2010

When I first boot up the phone and check the memory (after shutting down all the apps I don't want running) I notice my phone has about 220-250 MB free after leaving the phone on for about 2-3 hours, with no activity on my part, that number gets smaller and smaller. I just rebooted my phone again because it was down to 125 MB free with no applications running.

Also, "Android System" is consuming 65% of my battery life. I realize that number is inaccurate after a fresh reboot so I played with the phone for a good 4 hours running apps and such, so that I could get a good test of how much the OS is eating up in comparison to other apps. 65% is a bit much no?

HTC Desire :: Internal Memory - Battery Life - Apple Applications - Average Size Of Application?

Aug 27, 2010

I want to buy the HTC Desire or the Samsung Galaxy S. At the moment I prefer the HTC Desire. It's smaller, feels better and has flash which the Samsung lacks. But when I read the fact that the HTC Desire is very limited in internal memory for installing apps and the fact that you can't transfer a lot of apps to your sd card with the help of the froyo 2.2 update got me thinking again about which phone I should pick. I don't want to buy the phone and later regret that I don't have enough space for apps. That's not the only thing that is bothering me. So I want to ask a few questions.

1: What is the average number of apps you can install on the internal memory (so without SD card) of the HTC Desire if you installed update 2.2?
2: Let's say I use internet 2 hours a day, watch movies, listen to music 2 hours a day and also call people 1 hour and send a few text messages. If I do this everyday will I have to charge my battery everyday or will it last longer?
3: Can you install apple apps on HTC desire?
4: What is the average size of an application?

I checked the space available and it said only 44mb. I'm not that smart with smart phones, but I know something's not adding up. I've tried turining the phone off and on w/o success.

I also cleared my dalvik cache. My phone was then down to 136MB used. Today, my phone is back up to 143MB used. I haven't installed any apps since yesterday. What happened to those 6MB that I freed up?? (Rooted and running Fresh 2.0d and I am not using apps2sd)

Sprint HTC Hero :: Internal Memory Dilemma

Feb 18, 2010

I love my hero, so please don't read this post as one of those whiny rants. I would love any feedback/suggestions for those of you who are in a similar situation as me. I have owned my hero since september, and for the past month I have been riding the edge of my internal memory being completely full. I have 104 apps (including stock) totalling 144mb of my 159mb available. I am at the point that I can't update any apps (increases their size) and if I want a new app, I have to go through my phone and delete ones I think I can live without. I clear my caches regularly and I am at the point where I am just maxed out. If I get too close to the limit, my phone gets extremely laggy, and goes crazy at reboot and everything force closes until I delete some apps and reboot (that is a whole different issue). Is anyone facing this issue and if so, how do you deal with it?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Low Internal Memory With Apps 2sd?

Jun 15, 2010

I apologize if this is a question that has been asked before. But, I wasn't able to find a thread that really answered my question.

I run Aloysius 2.1 as my ROM, and I run Darktremor 2.7 apps2sd. I have a 16gb sd card, and it is partitioned. The apps that I download are being saved to the sd card. But, yesterday, I had to data/factory reset, wipe dalvik-cache, and wipe SD:ext partition. With the help ofKelmar I was able to get things working again. After I got it working, and did a nandroid restore, I still had to go re-download all the apps that I had. Prior to doing this my internal storage showed around 40-41mb. It now shows only 23mb after re-downloading all the apps I had. I know that the apps are being saved to my sd card, but, I would like to figure out why my internal memory is still decreasing, and why it is so low in the first place since I am running apps2sd?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Internal Memory Disappearing - How Much Do You Have?

Aug 17, 2010

My internal memory has a parasite that is slowly eating it away. I have figured out that when internal memory gets below 16MB it turns on the little warning in the status bar. So, this is how I'm checking my internal memory so everyone that takes their time to respond to me is using the same method. I got to Settings> SD&Phone Storage, at the bottom of the screen that comes up is the "Internal Phone Storage" Available space and mine says 15.84MB. Today I installed a highly rated memory manager from the Market and it didn't help at all. So my first question is How much "internal Phone Storage" do you have left?

Now my second question is when you got to Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> and scroll way down to "Mail - HTC Corporation" and click on that. Now look at the storage. Mine says 15.64 MB Total. Which breaks down there to Application 2.59MB and Data at 13.05MB. Clearly my Mail program is holding the biggest chunk of memory. But I want to know how this compares to everyone else's. If this is true then it would account for the parasitic growth or loss of my memory.

So if I'm way different then this will start a good discussion on what to do about this problem. Just let me say at this point that I delete all email once I have read it. I delete the sent, draft and Trash folders too. I also go into the SD Card and delete everything that is in the .Mail folder too. So if my phone is storing old email now I have to find out where and delete it.........

I so appreciate everyone weighing in on this perplexing problem.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Internal Memory Still Disappearing

HTC Mail at 23mb
Maps at 9mb
Contacts Storage at 8mb
ES File Explorer at 6.5mb
Quick Office at 4.0mb

I have a great Cache Cleaner that the last time recovered me back to 40mb of memory but now I'm down to 18mb with everything and it still seems to be disappearing. Any idea's? I don't sync with Facebook or Google. I store NO mail in either of my two mail accounts and I use Handcent for me txting and I don't save anything there that I'm aware of. This phone just has a habit of consuming memory.

This phone is running Damage Controls last 2.1 rom too.
