If I happen to sell my SD card will my Eris remain rooted? Or will everything just go back to stock since I don't have the card in my phone anymore? Also, what would a fair price be for a used Scandisc 16 GB SD card? I have it listed for $35. Too high? Too low?

First off thanks for all the great info. I have been lurking for a while and couldn't have rooted without your guys After I rooted my Eris (Now running Non sensible 13.2 after trying tazz froyo and a few others) I now have problems with my touch screen, especially on the upper right side quadrant. Just curious if anyone has any solutions or has experienced the same type of problem.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with a few different ROMs to find the one that's the most stable for me, but something weird has happened. Most of the ROMs I like the best have the vanilla dialer which I love but the look of the dialer has changed and I'm not sure why.
At one point the dialer had the END, SPKR, MUTE etc., on the call screen so if you pulled the phone away from your ear you could see those buttons. Now when I'm on a call I have a little tab that I have to pull up to access the number pad and I have to hit MENU to bring up the END, SPKR and MUTE settings. I really want to go back to the way it was before. This has happened on several ROMs.
After months of being really happy with 1.5, I ran with OTA 2.1 for about a week.... hated it! While I didn't see any outright bugs, the phone had hugely sluggish response, very poor battery life, etc. Finally decided to to the Factory Data Reset this morning, and voila - lovin' my Eris again.
Things to note:
Before Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time were almost equal (not good)
- Had the 50% without signal message
- 'Android System' always listed as top user of battery usage (60-70%)
- Even while idle, phone always felt 'warm' (like it was continually running a background process, as evidence by poor battery life)
After Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time now as expected (awaketime < uptime)
- No more 50% signal message
- Cell Standby and Phone Idle now top users of batter usage.
- Phone now cool to the touch while idle
One thing to note is even after the reset, I still had issues syncing Gmail contacts, and needed to delete the contacts cache.
While I won't conjecture about root cause, I'm hoping Google and VZ learn from this experience, as much of this mucking about is *way* beyond what most 'normal' users would put up with. My wife loves her iPhone and just laughs at me dealing with all this c**p. Besides, I can't remember the last time *she* had to reboot her phone..
I have just used the instructions on this forum to first root my phone, and then install New 2.2 on to my desire. What a improvement in performance and Shockwave flash works. But I can't install on to my SD Card at all. If I download a app from the market (or my pc) which is set to install on extrenal storage (SD Card), it downloads and the installation fails. I also can't use APP 2 SD as when I try and copy to memory it fails. so if I then unmount my SD Card, and install the same app, it installs and works fine. So do I need to do something to my SD Card?

I successfully rooted the phone and it was working fine until my internet stopped one morning and upon restarting the phone, it wrote SIM1: SIM card not detected, SIM2: sim card not detected. I have tried all I could yet no avail as I can't use SIM card in the phone. I used MTK droid tool but nothing could be done, also entering engineering mode with ##4636##, the radio remained permanently turned off and couldn't turn on. I used IMEI tools to rewrite and replace the NVRAM files yet nothing happened. it has been very frustrating trying to find a solution but none found. WIFI and bluetooth still work fine.

Now what? i cant install terminal emulator either. i want to do it this way so i do not use up the space on the fone.For some reason i think it will start going slow again if i dont. any advice on what your setups are? what have you safely removed? is it ok to remove MyFavs? how about the cube? is there anything todo to speed it up a lil? or make it so it doesnt slow down at all?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I've tried and tried again using RA and other linux based programs (GParted) to get my 8GB card to partition for apps2sd. Everything always runs smoothly and shows that the card is partitioned correctly. But then upon reboot the SD card shows full fat32 memory (6.9 GB). No matter what I do, after reboot, the partitions never happen. When I used GParted, and then loaded the SD card on the phone it always says that the SD card is damaged and I need to reformat. I've done that and rerun everything to no avail. Someone please tell me this issue is that the SD card is corrupted and I should give up. Because I've followed everything to a T as far as partitioning. With that I'll say that I had no problems rooting my phone, flashing ROM's/RA's, etc, and have been able to do whatever I want as far as new things to load. I've finally decided after all this time to do apps2sd, and I literally screwed around for 5+ hrs today, trying to partition the SD card properly. Any thoughts?

I tried wireless Tethering via Bluetooth with the PDANet App and it was an utter failure...i'd get a connection but it was up and down every 5-10 minutes...I can get a solid connection when tethering over USB with PDAnet...But that sucks as it only seems to work with the Charging cable that came with the Eris and not the HUNDREDS of other usb cables i have laying around....
So everyone said...'ROOT!' Its easy to wirelessly Tether when you 'Root!'
you can even use your phone as a hotspot...
So i thought 'Cool, i'd really like to be able to use it as a hotspot!'

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...
