Has anyone experienced where multitouch (like pinch to zoom) doesn't work, until you restart your phone?View 3 Replies View Related
Is that true? If so, that's a serious flaw for me because I resize text instead of using my reading glasses, constantly. I really don't want to have to keep scrolling back and forth to read larger text. Darn. What were they thinking?View 32 Replies View Related

Why doesn't it work on the Eris (with 1.5) but works on my neighbors Hero?View 7 Replies View Related
So I just picked up my Eris yesterday. For the most part it is working great right now but a couple things are a little annoying.
First, pinch zoom isn't working in the Google Maps app. Should it? Works great in the browser when surfing the web but not in maps for some reason.
Second, it clicks at me. For example, I'll hit the red power/call end button when I'm done using it to turn off the display. Then I'll set it down on the table or something and it makes these little intermittent click sounds just sitting there. After 5 minutes or so it stops. It isn't constant, just a couple clicks ever 10-30 seconds for a little bit then stops.
What would cause the pinch too shrink and stretch to zoom fail on this stock camera app?.. it has only happened since the 2.1 leak .View 4 Replies View Related
New to these parts...
Is Pinch-to-Zoom stock on the Google maps app? or is my only option rooting the phone?
I noticed that about 35% of the time when I try to pinch/zoom it flat out doesn't work. The little +/- are there and double tapping works just as it did pre-update.
Is this happening to anybody else? Most of the time its perfectly fine but when it doesn't work it acts pretty much like it did before the update.
I noticed my pinch to zoom isnt working today when surfing the web. Anyone else having this problem? Any thing I can do to fix it?View 2 Replies View Related

Maybe it's just semantics, but I feel the need to see how others feel about this.I have always loathed the computer term "cut and paste" because you actually COPY and paste, at least that goes for 99.999% of my usage with those functions. So now the question is, do we apply the same reverse terminology to this fictional, mystical, function, that we have only seen in fuzzy Youtube videos? The reason I ask this is. the initial view of any web page that I visit, I see the whole page, and if I want to be able to read a particular column I would need to zoom into it, but here is where the terminology gets confusing, because in my experience with other devices that use such technology ie: iPod, to zoom in you actually use a stretch motion to zoom in, and a pinch motion to zoom out. I know semantics, you have to pinch to make it zoom one way or the other, but since the most commonly used zoom feature would be to zoom in, it should be called stretch-zoom instead. So how do you feel? Pinch-zoom Stretch-zoom or just plain old Multi-touch.View 15 Replies View Related
Is anyone else having extremely glitchy pinch to zoom on their Google map?
Double tap to zoom in works. I have Traffic Layered. My pinch to zoom is working for everything else like Sense UI.

Couple of questions about the GMail app on the desire. Firstly, does anyone know if there's any was of getting it to always show pictures for a given sender (like the web app)? I seem to have a decent connection most places, and get fed up of constantly having the press the button, especially as most of the emails I get are HTML type newsletters. And related to the type of emails, why doesn't the GMail app also have pinch to zoom when viewing the messages? They always come up huge and I have to scroll around. Can you at least change the default zoom. Failing that is there a another free email app. that will do these things.View 5 Replies View Related
Spent 2 weeks poking around Android SDKs and sacrificed last two weekends and finally managed to get a relatively stable version today. Named 'xScope', I did put a $2.99 price tag tough if you please excuse me. I need to buy a bird for this thanksgiving and wife kept bashing my development effort for not doing any housework in the past weeks. The browser is not full blown but works great for simple surfing.View 49 Replies View Related
Update (11/7): Calkulin has made a mod for the Evo!
Update: An XDA dev has made a permanent solution for Desire froyo ROMs. If anyone's interested you can follow his thread to see if it'll work on an Evo.
Update: A commenter on my Youtube video has found a fix!
This is to confirm that we are working on enabling Pinch Zoom for the XPERIA X10. The work with this has progressed and the plan is that this will be enabled through an over-the-air update of the X10 that for most markets will come in Q1 2011. For more information on background and what to expect please read the corresponding blog post at http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/product...
This is SE official announcment about multitouch, and few month ago they say that it was not possible, but now they say that X10 support this. What to think people some alliens fly down and changed our mobiles or SE was able from the beggining to make multitouch and he didn't wanted. E SE lovers and Moderators of this forum i am waiting for comment from you pleasee......
If you dont beleive me here is the link [url]
Htc Hero is supposed to be a multi touch device, you can pinch to zoom in browser and in photo viewer, the thing that I can't understand is why all other applications don't support multitouch.
For example I downloaded snesoid and nesoid and there is written in the options that my firmware (1.5) doesnt' support multitouch, making it impossible to play games.
So is HTC hero with 1.5 really multitouch or not? And will I be able to use multitouch in emulators and other apps downloaded from the market when the 2.1 will come out?
I wanted to create an gallery with images. The images within the gallery should be zoomable and pannable. I could able to pinch-zoom an image but could not able to set zoom limitand prevent the image from being panned off the screen. I used the following code to zoom an image:http://code.google.com/p/4chan-image browser/source/browse/src/se/robertfoss/MultiTouch/TouchImageView.javaspec=svnd3e623ddeb6f9e97d9eba2c7aaa7c4567a3822b5&r=d3e623ddeb6f9e97d9eba2c7aaa7c4567a3822b5 First approach : I used TouchImageView to supply images to gallery, this allows me to pinch zoom but can't scroll the gallery. i.e I cant differentiate between 'single tab event' and 'tab to scroll event'View 1 Replies View Related
I think I read somewhere that the hardware is multi-touch capable.. so, pinch to zoom should be do-able with software, yes? Does anyone know (for sure) if the upcoming Android 2.1 release will bring that to the Moment?View 25 Replies View Related

I just wanted to know if there is some kind of class to use the multitouch features of android 2.1. Specifically I am trying to implement pinch-zoom and was wondering if I always have to measure the distance between two touch events and calculate the zoom level on my own?View 4 Replies View Related
I'm building a mobile site and have the following meta tag set in the header:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" />
Unfortunately, this isn't working on HTC devices (HTC Hero, etc) with Android 2.1. Any ideas on how I can disable pinch-to-zoom in this browser? Works fine on the iPhone.
Coming from an iPhone to the Fascinate, I've noticed that the pinch to zoom feature in the browser auto-fits the text after the zoom in. On my iPhone that didn't happen. I can see where auto-fit would come in handy, but there are times I don't want the layout of the site to change. I just want to zoom it a little - I'll happily finger scroll to the left, right, up, or down to read something.
Is there a way to disable the auto-fit on the zoom-in for the stock browser? I know there are other browsers out there, but I'm asking about the stock browser.
Perhaps this is a feature coming in 2.2?
I've had my Desire for about a week end enjoyed pinch to zoom in many applications over the first few days. Somehow the feature was disabled or removed and I struggle to enable it again. Other threads mentioned an update followed by a reboot. I'm not aware of any OS updates and I've done several reboots without any change to the issue. Also, these threads seemed to be US related and about other and slightly older phones.
HTC Desire, firmware 2.1-update1, baseband 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11, software 1.15.405.4, Vodafone Ireland network, no visible branding, not rooted
Please could someone point me how to re-enable pinch to zoom?
Just saw this in the Market Place. HEAT theme for the Dolphin browser supports pinch-zooming!
Initial tests show it works great..
My one gripe about the phone is solved.. all is well in the world again.
4.2.1 vs. 4.6, that is.
I'm looking for feedback from xtrSense fans that have used both.
While I am currently using Froyo (CELB 3.2), I want to have a 2.1 ROM "on deck" for those times when I just want every last thing to work flawlessly. (e.g. I have the Froyo undead call bug in mind, and a better camera app).
Probably I would be running it with no cache2sd, no apps2sd, standard OC'ing (245-710), zanfur kernel.
Is there any reason to prefer 4.2.1 over 4.6, when "bug free" is the highest priority?
I have so far found two bugs in Galaxo 1.6.3:
a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 220.127.116.11 update!
If I were to get a Sprint Hero (I know, i know, the EVO is about to come out), and assume I upgrade the OS to Android 2.1, will it then have "pinch to zoom"?I have no idea why the Verizon Droid Eris always had "pinch to zoom," but the Hero didn't.To me, having "pinch to zoom" is a big feature, so I hope I can get it on a Hero.View 5 Replies View Related
On non mobile versions of sites when you zoom in it doesn't lock with the screen size and adjust the text accordingly. Even if you select the fit to screen option. Or am I doing it wrong?View 6 Replies View Related
Yes I did read all the other posts about this. None of those suggestions made a difference. So to test I sent myself an email and had the GMAIL app open on the ERIS.It sometimes give me a conversation notice but does not actually download the email to the app for a long time. And then only if I force a refresh.I have full 3G where I am so that can't be it. Also, I do no have a task killer and I keep mobile on all the time. The ERIS doeseverything else very well with the exception of e-mail.View 14 Replies View Related
Now that I've updated to 2.1, most of the apps (weather and time apps) no longer work correctly.I live in Panama City Beach but these apps continue to tell me I am slightly north of Tallahassee over 100 miles away and in a different time zone. Stays the same regardless of GPS on or off,I have deleted and re-installed all of the offending programs and that didn't help either.Everything was great prior to the update.View 8 Replies View Related
Will flashing a new ROM over an existing one wipe out all the apps and settings. including contacts? If so then what is the method to backup and bring it all back. To much of a pain to continually re-install apps and resync (particularly since HTC sync doesn't work very well).View 10 Replies View Related

So I used to use Swype on xtrROM 3.0.3 and it worked fine. After switching to 18.104.22.168, the swiping action doesn't produce any text but tapping the letters does. I've been all over the Swype forum and see a lot of complaints that Swype has the same problem on Froyo. Any ideas? At least I still was able to find SahpeWriter but it isn't as smooth as Swype was.View 7 Replies View Related

I found this on Android Central (thanks to IzelTokatl) and someone there did verify it worked for OTA 2.1 phones. I tried it on my leak version 3 phone and I got the Hboot error again. I'm thinking this does not bode well for phones with the leak as once Verizon releases the upgrade for download from PCD or HTC we still won't be able to use it until the Hboot problem is fixed. The following instructions for doing the downgrade to 1.5 are cut and pasted from the Android Central forum and I edited them for PC's: Download the MR2 Upgrade Eris ROM from verizon partner: personal Communications Devices
1. Unzip the file
2. Plug your phone into your PC.
3. Navigate to folder ADR6200_MR2_Upgrade
4. Run .exe file in the folder (RUU_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_1.17.605.1_release_signe d_with_driver.exe)
5. follow on screen instructions.
We have tried everything to get a bluetooth earpiece to work with the HTC Droid. The only thing that works is answering a call and the quality is questionable.
You cannot use voice dialing at all. Last call redial doesn't work. Nothing that we have come to take for granted on cell phones for years works. If a 3 year old Motorola flip can do it, it can't be that hard.
Anyone have any idea if this is going to get fixed in the next release? I didn't find it even described in the release for December 11th.
I'm still running stock 2.1 and am pretty happy with it. I've heard so much praise of rooting and it's very tempting. After looking at all the ROMs, xtrSense 4 seems like it would be my top pick because it has SenseUI, it's new and very up-to-date, and it is known to run so well with so few issues.
But I was thinking, what's the point of rooting and going through the process to put on that ROM, when it will be almost the same as stock 2.1?
Are the benefits really worth it? How much more speed, enhancements over stock is it?
I am currently using PlainJane2 and like the ROM a lot and haven't really experienced any problems with it. However, I keep reading about how good XtrSense is and was wondering if anyone has used both of these and can compare them. From the descriptions, they seem fairly similar. I just don't know if XtrSense is faster and/or smoother.
I'm also thinking about trying the "non-sense" route and trying Xtr using either ADW or LauncherPro.
