After trying out ROM manager my phone WILL NOT boot into recovery mode. What do I do?
I have the Hero, I am using Cyanogenmod rom (6.0).I wanted to flash the newest update (6.1), but when I try to boot into recovery mode it freezes on the black screen that just has HTC on it.my phone loads just fine, it's just with the recovery mode that it gets stuck. What can I do?View 1 Replies View Related

I just recently came upon my new samsung moment, so i wanted to go ahead and root it after having my rooted hero with froyo, and i loved it.
Anywhos, i got to the point where I update it using the files i got off of the tutorial, and now im at the point where i need to boot into recovery in order to flash the phone with my new rom. However, here lies the issue. My phone is turned off, and i hold down volume down, and both the call and end buttons simultaneously. It starts to load up, but then it just basically loads into my phone like it normally should. I hold the buttons down all the way through this time, and same deal.. so what am i doing wrong here?
Seems I can't boot to recovery mode on my BH2. I've been all over the place looking for the exact method for booting to recovery, and I've seen all sorts of variations. The most common methods are to hold BOTH the Home and Power/End keys at the same time and continue holding them until you reach recovery, or to hold ONLY the Home key and continue to hold it after you have pressed the Power/End key to power up the device. I've also seen a couple people suggest that you should hold the Camera key while powering up. Suffice it to say, NONE of the methods I've tried have worked. When holding the Home key during power up, my phone hangs at the Android boot screen for about 2 minutes, but then continues to boot normally. Every other attempt to boot to recovery have resulted in a normal boot.View 1 Replies View Related
I have never rooted my phone before. I am running 2.27.651.6. I am trying to follow the instructions here to install Fresh Rom 2.1.2.
When I turn my phone off and try to boot into recovery mode by holding down the Home and Power buttons, I get a picture of a phone with a little red exclamation point beside it that will not go away. I eventually had to take the battery out of the back of it to get it to go away. Put the battery back in and it works fine but I would really like to install that Rom.
I have a Sprint Hero that I have rooted and in trying to do a Nandroid backup have found myself unable to get to recovery mode. I hold Home, hit power and the system hangs on the initial HTC screen until I remove the battery. After that the phone will boot into the regular OS just fine.
Now I am kinda stuck here, without recovery mode I can't even restore my phone back to stock can I? It's not urgent since my phone works normally otherwise.
I followed the instructions on the how-to root sticky, but when I power down the device and then hold vol down+up simultaneously and power it back up to get to recovery mode (to root), it boots normally. I've done this 7 times now, with two fingers holding down the volume buttons (one each) and then pressing the power button until the device shows signs of life.View 18 Replies View Related
I've been reading and I've downloaded the ROM Manager from the Marketplace. I've also downloaded a ROM to install. I have tried to boot my phone into recovery mode (pressing X while powering back on) and all I get to is a screen with the exclamation mark and a phone under it.View 4 Replies View Related
I successfully rooted my eris several months ago and am now trying to root for a friend but cannot get her eris to boot into recovery. I've tried several root methods and I know I'm using the correct buttons in the correct order to access recovery.View 32 Replies View Related
I've got the rooted 2.1, easy. I've got all the java and adk and what not I got the flash_image and recovery.img. The command prompts all work fine till the last command, (I've tried 2 different chain of commands both work until a certain point).
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
adb push recovery.img /sdcard
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
(After this one it says it cannot find flash recovery or image, cant exactly remember.)
- Open the Terminal and copy and paste the following commands with the phone connected to your computer.
- adb shell [hit enter]
- su [hit enter]
- flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-eris-v1.6.2.img (once again not found but I believe I followed correctly) this the end of commands the first half worked fine.
I've looked all over I will feel so dumb if someone posts with a link showing me how But I don't know how to put my phone into recovery mode I feel super dumb already I JUST rooted my eris and I'm a bit lost on what to do I've done my reading up and I really just want to make my eris faster so anyone care to help a nob out?View 8 Replies View Related

I got into recovery mode - The menu by pressing Power and VOL-DOWN at the same time, and then I selected 'Recovery' - But now I have a picture of an Eris with a large ! inside of a red triangle. ok, so I put the PB31IMG file on my sdcard, and the dinc_ota. I changed dinc_ota to update. (I did not name the file update.zip.zip) I powered down, I entered bootloader, and it loaded the PB31IMG and whatever. then I hit volume down and selected recovery. this brought me to clockwork recovery. I noticed the isntructions said to boot into STOCK recovery. well, I like a dummy ignored that and tried to apply the update.zip thru clockwork.
This is what I got:
So, is this because I tried doing it through clockwork recovery? is it because I didn't apply the first OTA update we got? what does that mean exactly anyways? is it saying I need to install the leaked froyo ROM, and then update the radio? How do I boot into stock recovery and not clockworks recovery? does this count as applying the update.zip once, meening if I do it again I'll brick my phone? should I sell this thing and get a samsung flip phone because I'm too stupid to own a Dinc?
I have a droid eris that's flashed to cricket & everything works except my apps. I searched around the forum & found Pkopaleks thread on how to finish the full flash to get working apps. The store I got my phone flashed at said it was impossible to get working apps because the apps are verizons (lies) & now I'm disappointed their not working. My question is that do all stores that flash phones root phones before the flash? If so will going to recovery mode and loading pkopaleks cricket file ruin what has already been done? Lastly if the store didn't have to root to flash how will I fix this problem?View 3 Replies View Related

Just FYI in case anyone wants to know: For download mode, with the phone turned off, fold the number 1 key on the QWERTY keyboard and the power button simultaneously For recovery mode, with the phone turned off, hold Volume Down, CAmera, and Power simultaneously. You navigate with volume UP/DOWN, select with HOME, Menu toggles to "Manual Mode", whatever that it.View 3 Replies View Related
I tried installing Tranquility and must have screwed something up because now my phone won't boot past the Motorola Logo. It's been sitting here like this for about 15min and I can't even boot into recovery by holding the power and home buttons. I don't know what else to do now. Idk if my phone is bricked but even if it is don't I need the SBF file to unbrick it and I can't find that file any where. I did a nand backup or whatever before doing any of this so hopefully that can help me. What should I do now?View 9 Replies View Related

I reflashed back to stock recovery to try a different rom and now I can't seem to boot into recovery. I was using velocity 0.2 with the JIT OC kernel and rom manager using the clockwork mod recovery. after flashing back to VS740ZV6_01 and rerooting and reapplying the clockwork mod recovery I cant seem to load any new roms or backups because the phone hangs at lg screen on reboot. have to pull the battery and it will then reboot normally but no recovery. also trying to hard reset results in hanging at lg screen. in addition, market app is missing.View 4 Replies View Related

I confirmed with t mobile that this a true statement, so i need another way in but cant figures it out i tried adb but it wont work either.View 2 Replies View Related
I did a full wipe, including cache, and got stuck in a boot loop. I pulled the battery, and when I hold down the volume and power button to boot into recovery so I can restore, the phone vibrates three times very quickly, then nothing. I can turn it on and go into boot loop, but that's it.View 3 Replies View Related

I was running Virtuous 2.6 and I decided to run some tests with task killers/force closing apps, etc and wanted to get back to the stock 2.1. I downgraded to 2.1 just fine, installed the May OTA update, and went to install 2.2 with the PB31IMG.zip file. Instead of the bootloader giving me the option to update, it simply says 'parsing' for about 2 seconds and then goes back to the HBoot menu.
Now when I reboot the phone, it will only boot into recovery and nothing else. I put the 2.1 downgrade back on to the sdcard and tried updating again and it just says 'parsing' and doesn't work.
I downloaded one of chevys kernel an I was going to install this kernel hoping for better battery life. Before I did, I tried booting into recovery and all I got was the M symbol. I then tried flashing alternate recovery(sprecovery) and then went to boot into recovery an that still didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know if its related to that download of the kernel or what. But this is very frustrating knowing I don't have recovery.View 14 Replies View Related
I KNOW my phones rooted, ive applied the update and ive been doing root things for quite awhile. However, when I go into rom manager, download a rom, and install it, it brings me to the normal recovery menu, the blue one with only 4 options. I reapplied the update.zip and still nothing. When I try to reflash the clockwork it says... An error occured when attempting to run priveleged permissionsView 3 Replies View Related

I semi-bricked my phone. I installed Rubix Rom through Rom Manager and it installed over top of FlyX. It starts up like normal (just doesn't go to the Koush Recovery screen on startup). When I unlock the phone, there is just the status bar and everything else is completely black. I can connect usb and change how it connects. Is there a way to get into the Koush Recovery manually at startup somehow? I just want to flash back my backup. I'm at work and I'm using OSX so I can't exactly do the SBF (unless someone knows a way without having to set up a virtual machine).View 10 Replies View Related
I was messing around with root explorer and noticed that i was able to delete my boot animation with it when i was mounted as R/W so i thought i would try to copy one and it also works... so no need to push with adb shell.. here are the steps
1. take the boot animation make sure it is named bootanimation.zip and copy it to your SD card
2. then open root explore and mount R/W and then navigate to the file and press on file till the menu comes up and select copy
3. then navigate to data/local and paste the file in the local directory
and you are done, this can be done with the android_audio.mp3 file as well just paste it to the same place.
just thought this would make it easier for people instead of using adb shell
I've been running Kangerade since shortly after it came out... And loving it.. Yet today I saw my phone was rebooting - and waited (figured it over heated or some such..) and waited... And waited...
