HTC Eris :: How To Add Nexus One Boot Animation Instead Of What Is Has Now
Mar 24, 2010
Maybe I missed this and if I did, can you please point me to the right link but just rooted and flashed to the latest ROM and wanted to know how to add the N1 boot animation instead of what is has now.
one day when I was playing around with clockword mod and selected restart adbd(I thought it meant the adb daemon but I guess it means something else) in the advanced options area.Well I consider my self pretty tech smart and "advanced" for a 13 year old but I guess things happen. Now when I boot my nexus one the actual boot animation(not splash) is not showing for the first 3 quarters of the boot up. Then I thought I bricked my device because the screen wasn't showing the animation for 20 sec. Then I saw the touch-sensitve buttons light up and then 2 seconds later the animation apeared only for 2 seconds untill my device was booted. I tried overwriting the boot animation in both /system/media/ and in /device/local/ ad it had no effect. I dont know what to do. I am rooted using universal androot because I want to be able to unvoid my warrnaty. So my bootloader isn't unlocked. I am running Cyanogen Mod 6 and am loving it so far! But I am wondering what to do? Should I re-flash the rom? I tried pressing restart adbd again and it did nothing? i have not done a Nandroid restore because it will mess up my apps that are on the sdcard if i restore back. I dont know what to do.
I downloaded the bootanimation.zip for the droid 2 and all instructions and tips say: If your rooted it's as easy as putting it in the /data/local folder!
Well there is a /data folder on my Nexus and it's empty. If I try to make a new folder it says "cannot create new folder" in File Explorer that came with CM6.1. Astro greys out the create folder button. What am I missing? Also I saw that you can ADB push it. WTF does that mean? I know how to do some fastboot stuff, is it the same? Reboot the phone with the USB connected and run commands on my PC?
All of a sudden my girlfriend's Nexus One is rebooting somehow. She fires up her phone, it boots just fine, after a few seconds when everything is loaded, u can scroll thru the menus etc, it seems to reboot, but real fast, the animation comes up, and 2sec later the home screen is visible again. It keeps doing this.
Any ideas? The phone is not rooted, no custom rom, just a few regular apps form the market installed, nothing fancy.
I have been unsuccessful in getting this to work. xda-developers - View Single Post - Droid X R2-D2 editon boot animaion if anyone want it xda-developers - View Single Post - R2D2 from StarWars Has anyone been able to get it to work or can help me with it? I got the LWP and notifications to work but not the boot animation.
I pretty much have the custom boot animations figured out... It seems to work whether I put bootanimation.zip in /data/local or /system/media no problem... but the one thing I can't figure out is how to get a sound to play. I've tried every combination I can think of... boot.mp3 in the zip file, android_audio.mp3 in the zip file... tried the zip without the mp3, just placing the mp3 in the same directory as the zip (and also tried both names that way, in both directories stated above). Is there something I'm supposed to add to the desc.txt file? What am I missing? The only info I can find for the Eris is just "put a boot.mp3 in the zip file" which is just not working...
So I have own an android phone since December but just recently installed the sdk, rooted and been playing around a little. Please excuse me if this is a stupid thread but I just spent an hour making an animated gif, used sdk to push it to my /system/media/bootscreen folder and rename it boot.gif.
I created my own boot animation and I am having problems with it. As you can see in the video below, it flashes every time it starts a new folder (part0 and part1) and continuously flashes when it repeats part1. It is not only this boot animation though as I have tried others and they are doing the same thing. If someone could help me with this, EDIT: I have reset to factory settings and tried again to no avail. I don't know what the problem is.
I have a rooted eris running "Eris_Official_0.8.1T2" rom. I have seen threads about how to change the boot logo/animation, but no one knows how to remove the animation entirely. I would like the verbose boot to display on start up if possible. Has anyone done this? I have seen something similar with the android on iphone(at 1:53 in the video)
I had a problem and was wondering if you could help. I downloaded the Boot Animation Changer app because I wanted to d/l the mario bros. boot animation. It now is on my phone but after it runs my screen goes green for awhile as i frantically press buttons to get it back. I tried uninstalling the app but that didn't get my original animation backk. How do i do this?
I have the VanillaDroid ROM installed on 2.1 v2. My phone is rooted. But I don't like the boot animation that came with the ROM, so I decided to change it. In every tutorial I've seen, people mention a "bootanimation.zip". However, I can't find it anywhere on the phone. But I did find the "bootscreen" folder in "/system/media/" with the bootup animations in it. I assumed that if I swap out the animations for the new ones, it would work (reasonable enough right?). Not really. Apparently, I deleted everything in the bootscreen folder, but when I try copying stuff into it from the memory card, it can't find any directory on the memory card through the "adb shell" stuff.
I know the folder with the bootscreen animations and stuff exists on the memory card, but apparently the shell commands say it doesn't exist. So now my phone boots up with no animation or sound. Its nice to have a quiet boot, and it does seem to start up a little faster, but I want a boot screen again. I know if I reflashed the ROM, it would come back (or at least should). But I don't want to have to reset and redownload all my apps and stuff, especially since I have just got everything the way I want. Is there anyway to get the bootup animations back without reflashing? And if I would reflash, since its the same ROM, would I need to do a factory reset?
I rooted recently with the evil eris 4.0 running, and used this app Boot Animation Changer and it worked alright but I think I might of did a backup of one of the animations and overwritten over the stock, so stock isn't there. How can I get the stock back?I dont know what to do.
Since people are starting to make their own boot animations now, and this is something that everyone (not just root) can do to customize their Eris I thought it'd be helpful to start sharing them in one place. Also, since the name of the animation must be "bootanimation.zip" I have changed the names to avoid confusion when downloading, but it will have to be changed back before installing.
Installing the SDK and using ADB
1.) Make sure debug mode is enabled: Menu -> settings -> Applications -> Development, Check the box for USB Debugging. 2.) Download the SDK from Android SDK | Android Developers 3.) Download HTC Sync from HTC Mobile Phone Support - DROID ERIS by HTC (Verizon) - Downloads 4.) Install HTC Sync (This takes care of any driver issues) 5.) Extract the SDK to any directory (C:Androids is easy to remember) and install. 6.) Open a command window (Windows key + R -> Type "cmd" hit enter) 7.) Navigate to your SDK ools Directory Code...
I am looking for this boot animation I seen a while back where the Android Bot is waving and making these weird sounds. Its like this but without the eye. http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/8780/boot.gif
Just thought I'd show you what I got running on my EVO. I take absolutely no credit for this, just saw a thread somewhere in the incredible forum about a boot animation and did it. Takes no ROOT, just install the SDK and a small amount of knowledge on how to use the ADB tool. Here is a video of it on my EVO.
I recently tried to get a custom boot animation on my Droid X and copied the boot animation.zip into system/media and now instead of a boot animation i have a black screen. How can i get the stock animation back on there? should i put my custom boot animations in data/local instead?
So last night I decided to try and change my boot animation but when I restart my phone I still have the stock verizon one. I have received the 2.2 update and not sure if that matters. And I was wondering what are the requirement to make a boot animation. I'm a huge UFC fan and would love to have a .gift of a fight or something.
I want to change the boot animation, since I now I have access to the /system/customize/resource folder can I just delete that boot animation file and move the new one over from the sd card? I was going to use Astro to do this.
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-incredible/134977-unable-change-boot-startup-since-going-froyo.html I am attempting to modify/replace the default boot animation on my Incredible. I am currently running Froyo 2.2 (not sure if that's relevant). I downloaded the BIOS style boot animation and the zip file contains: Code...
