HTC EVO 4G :: Person's Name On Text Messaging List
Jul 27, 2010
When I select a person's name on my text messaging list, it opens to a different person. I accident sent a text to the wrong person because of this, oops. It's been happening since I got my phone for the most part, but it didn't start to bother me until now because it seems to be happening more frequently. Anyone fixes for this?
So, I had the motorola droid. And sometimes I'd send a text message...and It would end up going to the wrong person. As in, for examply this morning a friend texted me something that was not suppose to go to me, but they typed the message to the person that it should have went to but it did not, is this just a motorola droid problem? because i have not had this problem with my new driod incredible.
Since I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.
I have my phone set to display only numbers on the SIM (or only on the phone.. doesn't really matter) so that in the contacts app and the contacts section of the phone app I don't have duplicates of everything. However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.
Under each contact person it gives the chance to enter numerous numbers (i.e. home, mobile, work). then when u go to that person it gives a ton of options. For example if work, home and mobile are all listed it will give the option to call all 3 numbers and send message to all 3 numbers. Obviously I can't send message to work or home numbers. So....my questions is can I somehow delete the options to send message to home and work numbers? That way the the only options listed are: call home, call work, call mobile and message mobile. Also I did it once and forget how...but how can I change which number is the primary one on a person's contact list?
I have this issue where when I am trying to reply to a text message and select the person's name to display the message but another person's name appears. I am not hitting the wrong person since the other person's name is nowhere on the screen. I've had 3 HTC EVO that did the same thing so im assuming this is software issue.
I have the Eris with Verizon and my wife has the Hero with Sprint. Something happened a couple days ago where I can't text her anymore. I can call her and email her. And she can text me, but I can't reply or originate a text.I have deleted her from gmail contacts and phone contacts and re-entered her info fresh several times. Still nothing. I updated to os 2.1, but this happened days after that. Anyone having this issue too? Is it on my end or her end?
I normally figure this stuff out very easily on my own but not happening today. I want to have a different notification sound for when I receive an e-mail from a certain person in my contact list. All my email plays the normal GMAIL notification sound. I need this person's incoming messages to play a different special sound.
I been trying to figure out how to text more then one person on my contact list. Does anybody know how to do that besides using google voice or downloading another app(ex.Group contact Creator)?. Usually this feature is in almost all of the phones i have used in the past.
I'm using Handcent (recent convert from BB) I have a few shortcuts setup for frequent persons I text but wondered the fastest way to compose a text for a random person in my address book. Here's what I've done:
1. press Handcent 2. press top left icon for new message 3. press + sign 4. scroll list for contact 5. press check mark 6. press check mark to select mobile phone 7. press ok 8. press menu 9. press "end select" 10. compose text. so, that's nuts. The other way I've tried is: 1.press people shortcut 2. scroll list for contact 3. press contact 4. Look at the 3 entries for "send message" (my example contact) and try and remember which is the cell phone. 5. press send message. 6. compose text
So I guess the second way is better but I'd rather not have to figure which is the cell phone and rather than scrolling to find the name I'd rather type first letters of name.
On the LG Dare when I couldn't pick up my phone and I had to ignore a call after I pressed ignore it gave me the option to send a quick text which was a presaved text message to the person who was calling me. Can the incredible do this? Or there an app that can?
When sending a text message, I click on "new message," then type in the person's name. When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message. It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!
Not sure if im missing something here. I have the messaging app on my home screen. So when I click on the messaging icon it pulls up a list of all my contacts. I then choose a contact and it then gives me options to call or sms the contact.
How is this anything to do with messaging. When pressing the messaging app I would expect my sms inbox to come up.. Have I broke it?
In my project I'm Multiple choice list....in this all text view in white color...i want to change text color. in program I'm use simple xml main.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayoutxmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="#ffff00"> <List View android:id="@+id/android:list" android:layout_margin Top="2px" android:layout_marginLeft="2px" android:layout_marginRight="2px" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1"android:background="@drawable/shape_1"android:listSelector="@drawable/shape_3" android:textColor="#ffff00" android:layout_marginBottom="44px" /> </RelativeLayout> I'm ListActivity class setContentView(R.layout.main); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this,android.R.layout.simple_list_item_multiple_choice, GENRES)); listView =getListView();listView.setChoiceMode(ListView.CHOICE_MODE_MULTIPLE);
I've decided to do a search for some other possible apps to replace the stock text messaging system. So far I've downloaded chompSMS, Handcent SMS, and SMS (which seems to be an enhanced version of the stock one) Curious on which ones you guys are running and the benefits of some over the others? I do like the apps over the stock one since you can reply to the text immediately after unlocking the phone and don't have to click an actual icon.
I am on Android 2.1 and I have one multi column Custom listview Using BaseAdapter with an editable edittext at the end of the listview. If the data in the listview do not contain the data of user choice then user should be able to enter data. If the data is already there in the list user will be able to select the data using custom selector. If a selection is made in the list view and user wanted to enter data in the text field at the bottom after selection then the marker in the list view should be unselected. I tried to use onclick() method on edit text using click listener. First time when it is clicked, edit text is getting focus and onclick() method is not fired. And when it is clicked second time, onclick() method is fired and notifyDataSetChanged() method is called. I tried to call the notifyDataSetChanged() method from the Focus Listener, list view selection is gone in my first attempt and edit text is not receiving any data input from the keyboard (frozen).
when you click on the Text Messaging icon that your text messages lag as they appear in the display (for example, I see phone numbers first associated with each message, and then I have to wait a few seconds before names slowly pop up in place of each number)?
so my droid incredible began to slow down && i had to figure out what was making my phone so slow.. come to find out.. it was Handcent SMS -- the text messaging app i had been using ever since i bought the phone.. i updated it the last time it notified me of an update && then it stopped working... always force closing.. so i had to use chomp SMS instead.. but i hate chomp -- handcent is ten times better.. i tried reinstalling handcent on my phone but i couldnt even find it in the android market so i was assumed the maker removed it from the store.. do any of you know of any other text messaging apps that are really good for the droid incredible? or do you know of any way that i could possibly put handcent SMS back on my phone?
Got a T-mobile pulse with unlimited txt's and data.
When i type a txt message, as soon as i hit 4 txt,s in length a message flags us saying 'converting message to mms'. Which it promptly does. If i send the message it does indeed send it as an mms. Anything under 4 in length is sent as a txt message
I spoke to T-mobile and they said update software to fix it. Which i did. And it did not fix it.
Phoned them back and they did not have a clue.
Not being able to send long text messages without being charged mms service rate.
This morning around 8am central time I was prompted with a message saying a new update was available. So I downloaded it using my wireless network at home. I've been at work all day and my incredible has been laggy and I can only send txts using google voice. I usually use handcent but I uninstalled it bc it kept foreclosing after the update. Ive tried repeatedly to use the default message app but when I select it, the only thing that comes up is a blank white screen n then the forceclose message. I haven't received an incoming txt all day either.
I've had my Eris for a good while now and just started to have some problems. The other night, I tried to flash a new rom and can't move my trackball in the Amon Recovery menu. I have read that on here and there are some other issues involving that.
Secondly, I was just using my phone today and noticed that when at my home screen, my phone would just slide to the left 2 screens. The trackball would move by itself. When I'm in my browser the trackball moves by itself also. It just scrolls down to the next link.
When I type my cursor jumps all over the place. If I leave the cursor sit for a couple seconds the cursor jumps to the left to the beginning of the message.
I am rooted usng Froyo 34 and updated on Android 2.2
I've been using BrowserTexting, paid for the premium and it's been awesome. While my phone is charging somewhere in my room, I can use my laptop to reply back to whatever text I receive.
Thing is, I'm using Viber to text friends overseas. I was wondering if there are any apps or any way to integrate all text messaging to the default android SMS messenger so I can use BrowserTexting? I know Viber text messages use the data plan, but it would be awesome if I could also use BrowserTexting to text through my Viber app. Or at least is there a way for me to also use my PC to text through Viber?
when I was using my Omnia, I noticed that when sending text messages it was the smartest phone I'd ever used. On Verizon, if you write a text message longer than 160 characters, it won't send any more than that to a non-Verizon subscriber. The Omnia inherently split excessively long text messages into separate messages, instead of what normal phones do, by sending the whole thing and hoping the server splits it for you.
The Droid acts like a dumbphone with both the stock SMS app as well as Handcent. I want it to split messages when they are longer than 160 characters, because I have a lot of friends that aren't Verizon members - or worse yet that it doesn't send the whole thing, Google Voice users. Is there a text messaging app that doesn't have this issue of sending long text messages to non-verizon subscribers?
