When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.
I've checked my phone's sync settings, synced several times, logged in and out of Gmail online to see if anything has been updated. No such luck. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.
As a new user, I had difficulty negotiating this site and finding the best place to post this. There is not an LG Optimus L9 Forum so, if there is a location where this post might encourage more visibility.
The heading pretty much says it all. I've been searching and can only find people with Hero's saying there is an option in People - Groups, then press menu, and you should be able to select what groups to sync. But I don't have this option. (Though I did here one Hero owner saying his option wasn't there at first.) Strangely, I even have more contacts than my Gmail "all contacts". Somehow I have some duplicates or fragments, I don't know. how to leave out syncing All Contacts?
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I didn't understand the choices (save on SIM, phone or Google) when I created my phone contacts. About half came from GMail. But the other half either came from Facebook etc, or were created on the phone -- and saved to the phone. I can't find a way to re-save the non-Google contacts to Google. I want to get the phone contacts up to Google so the sync/backup system will work. How? (Other than manually doing the whole damn thing again.)
This sync way is a little different. I've set up a sync from Gmail to my Xperia X10, but I want it backwards too. Just when I'm hanging with friends and meet new ones.. I add them to my phone. But If I want to mail them from my home computer. I want to manage the contacts directly from my Gmail. So when it does not sync backwards, I cannot.Any way I can sync the contacts from my Phone to Gmail?
i'm gonna transfer all my contact details to my gmail contacts and am wondering if when i sync the contacts through my HTC DESIRE if i'm able to choose which contacts to sync or even better, which group to sync?it would suck if EVERY contact i have is put on my desire, just no need for that and the above? applies to facebook too. any ideas?
I'm currently trying to back up my contacts for when (if) we ever get root. And for some reason, even after I sync and all that fun stuff, the phone contacts don't update when I go to my GMail account. How in the world do I get them to update there?
I noticed that the Family / Friends / Colleagues groups on Google (the default, unchangeable groups there) aren't synced with my Hero. As a work-around I've created 2 new groups, "My Family" and "My Friends", but this is messy (I end up with both "Family" AND "My Family" on gmail, but just "My Family" on my Hero). Is there any way to sync those basic 3 groups?
Having spent a couple of hours tidying up all My Contacts in readiness to sync with my Hero I was a bit hacked off to find 500+ contacts based upon all my email via Gmail. So thought it would useful to share how to set up the Hero to only sync My Contacts, by default it set to sync All Contacts.
Please help - I'm a clueless Newbie with a week-old HTC Desire (fully updated) - and I am losing the will to live with this phone!
I have just spent 3 hours typing all of my contacts into my new Gmail account due to probs a)transferring contacts from my old iphone to my HTC and, b)transferring contacts from the iphone to gmail.
I have manually deleted all of the contacts from my SIM card to avoid further confusion, and am now trying to sync the contacts freshly added to my gmail account, with my empty HTC desire phone book.
This process would appear to be self-explanatory, and pretty easy, going by other peoples' posts...however the HTC has claimed to be 'synchronizing' via HTC Sync for the past hour, but nothing is happening!
I am new to Android. In fact, I am still waiting for my new android device (Samsung Galaxy S),I should receive it within a few days. I would like to do the following: I want to use my gmail account from my phone and have all emails sync on my device. But I do not want to sync my gmail contacts with my "local" contacts (local being the contacts stored on my phone). I only want to sync my emails.
I read on another web site that one guy managed to sync his Outlook contacts with his Android phone contacts, but once he started to configure his gmail account, all his local contacts were automatically saved in his gmail account, and vice versa. Is there a way to use gmail with only emails sync, and without contacts sync? I prefer to be sure that it is possible (and know how to do it) before starting to use gmail on the phone. My Outlook contacts contain lots of professional contacts that I do not want to see in my private gmail account.
I have searched all around and no answer. I have many contacts that I got onto my phone through my simcard and I want to sync them with gmail. How do I do this? I have a Vibrant. The contacts are also synced to tmobile's online thing, but I don't like the interface.
I have a gmail account with one set of contacts in it and my phone with the updated contacts in it. I want to delete all the contacts in gmail and put the ones from my phone into it. How can I do a one way sync from the phone to gmail. Also if I leave sync contacts with gmail checked I constantly get the too many contacts to delete error.
so i exported all my contacts through the app (exportcontact) to an CSV file, i saved them to my PC, then i uploaded them to my Gmail account. everything went smooth and all my contacts showed up on my Gmail so i went ahead and deleted all my contacts on the phone..but now i cant seem to figure out how to get the contacts back on the phone. ive tried exporting file from Gmail and saved it, then tried to put it back onto my SD but i wont let me.(error msg, cant write onto disk i need to take my phone to telus and have the stupid crackling speaker replaced.
I am afraid I come up with a question that might be answered already. However, I am not able to find the particular forum thread helping me out.I just got my HTC Desire yesterday and managed to get my contacts on my gmail-account (in the internet). So far so good. My contacts are "safe" in my google-mail-account and I was able to export them as cvs. Now, on my HTC Desire they actually show up, if I choose "people" -> "menu and view" -> "Google".In the list of "view" I can also see my SIM Card (which says its empty and that is correct) and "Phone" which is empty as well. Please correct me if I am wrong:From what I think I see my contacts are on my internet googlemail account only and my phone is connecting to the internet to get them. But that is not I would want. I would want my contacts being synced between my phone (which is not necessarily connected to the internet all the time) and my internet google-mail account. Now, is there a way to bring those contacts on my phone (using the on board tools) so I can use them "offline" or am I misunderstanding the menu and the contacts are already "offline" on my phone marked as "Google" contacts?
I am currently downloading 2.1 and wanted to make sure I was able to get all my contacts back. When I go into "contacts" in gmail, everyone shows up. When 2.1 finishes, obviously I will lose everything. Will my contacts automatically show up on my hero once I set up my gmail account on the phone or is there more that I need to do?
When I try to Sync up my Gmail contacts I'm getting the following error message - The process android. process. acore has stopped unexpectedly. Been looking for others with this error message but haven't seen it yet
I've tried posting this on other threads but have gotten no replies. Forgive me for starting a new one. I haven't synced my contacts to Gmail since January because I found the way it would garble them all up annoying. But I got the OTA on my phone & wanted to make sure they're backed up before I go ahead w/the installation. Problem is, it has been acting like it's syncing for over 12 hours now & all it's doing is draining my battery. It still shows that it hasn't been synced since January. Also, periodically during the sync attempts, the "too many contacts deletes" notification pops up. I always tell it to delete everything. And it's odd that one time it'll say 505 deletes & the next time it'll say 502 deletes & it keeps getting less. I don't get it. need to back up my contacts before I install 2.1 right?
My girfriend just got the Eris and it synced contacts from her gmail, into her phone contacts. Was nice becase they couldent sync the contacs on her broken phone. Can droid do the same thing? Also it let her sync her contacts with facebook profile. This put the facebook picture next to the contact, and found birtday for the calander. IS this somthing that droid can do?
i switched from iphone to the galaxy s recently. my contacts used to be saved in my sim card that i transferred over to the new phone. However, i am not able to find an option to sync these existing contacts with my gmail. anyone can tell me how to do that please? Any new contacts that i create in galaxy s can be synced with gmail. i just can't sync the existing ones.
I have noticed that my phone syncs all the contacts that i have on gmail, that is every person that i have sent a email and my contacts. I just want to have my contacts synced there, not more than that ( besides twitter/fb which syncs ok).
Here is the deal, back in Jan when I finally got all my contacts sorted and edit after some issues with sync, I tuned off the Auto sync, with the idea that I would force a sync when I wanted to and I could watch what was going on.I have about 350-375 contacts in my phone currently. I want to play with some 2.1 roms so I need to get these synced to gmail so I dont loose them again. i can not get it to sync. I get :I have tried setting auto sync and still have an issue.
My phone is setup to the corporate network (activesync). So I have all my contacts & calendar in the corporate side. I thought this would also sync up to Gmail, but so far, my gmail contacts and calendar are blank. Any suggestions on how to sync my contacts to gmail?
