Question about Stock Mail (not gmail) app. First - I am rooted running Fresh 1.1 Rom. I have noticed that my mail client does not send/receive mail on it's set schedule. Sometimes it will check if the phone is awake, but otherwise it could sit in my pocket sleeping for three hours and never once send/receive.
For some reason, I'm no longer getting the little envelope icon at the top left of my phone when I have new e-mail. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have checked and the "email notification" is still on, so its not that.
I was wandering if anybody could help me with the email notification problem im currently having. Iphones and blackberrys all give you a notification when you receive a new email or a new facebook message. The galaxy s does nothing when you receive a new mail. In settings you can select a ringtone, set it to vibrate when you receive a message. But nothing happens. The only way to find out if there any new messages is by clicking on the email app ( in which i am using hotmail).
When I receive a voice mail, it shows up in the visual voice mail application like it always does. Everything is normal EXCEPT ... When I play the voice mail I hear nothing. The time bar moves as it is playing, but nothing can be heard. This has been happening for the past 3 days. I then have to access my VMs through the traditional "Dial #1" portal. I love visual VM though, and would like to fix this. Does anyone know what the problem might be and/or have had this problem before?
Note: I am not using a task killer, and I don't even have one downloaded on my UNROOTED Hero.
New to Smartphones and kinda overwhelmed. Looking to this forum answers and it is a big help. I have two questions....dumb as they may seem. I received emails with wmv videos. I can get the sound but no video. What may be the issue. Also, other home screens are available but where can I access them, and what are the most functional?
Samsung Captivate. Looking for some help on transfering a Video I took with my new phone. For some reason the file looks large 99989 KB and it is to large to transfer to a e-mail the system is telling me. Tryed e-mail, messaging.
I have a video that was sent to me at my gmail account and it was sent by a Black Berry. The video played on the BB but when I tried to view it in the message from my phone, I could not even download it. In the email, it has a paperclip with a point to the right, and the name if it is VID 00028.3GP (262kb size). I could not do anything with the attachment and when I touched the paperclip icon, it wouldn't do anything. I forwarded the email to another person and she could view the video- from her iPhone.
So, that's my dilemma and I hope you can help. By the way, I am a Verizon user and my Droid 2 has Android version 2.2. If you need anything else, please let me know. If you want me to send the movie to you for troubleshooting, please PM me and I will. It's just the winning touchdown to my University's game today and I don't mind sharing it- because it was awesome but I'd like to know why I can't watch or download it.
Is there anyway or any hack out there, perhaps an app, that allows you to send any length of video from your email to another email address? most of my videos are larger than 20MB and my gmail app won't send since it's too large. this would be great
Android provides a use-friendly API for playing and handling media (audio/video).However, I have the following requirements which i wish to realize with this framework: My requirement is to have knowledge of the ports that the android media framework opens and uses for sending/receiving media streams. I use this information for signaling on the Session Description Protocol (SDP) that i add as a payload to SIP.Is it possible for me to get this information in the form of a RTP session from the framework ? (ports and address combination).*Use Case for this requirement:*If I initiate a multimedia call towards a peer, I will need to open my audio and video ports and start streaming media once the signaling is complete and successful. For successful streaming, the remote end needs to have knowledge of the ports I have opened for media as the streams are bi-directional and I will also need to receive media from the remote end.(sendrecv in SDP) . This is for the outgoing call.
Is there an app out there that allows me to assign different ringtone for different events like SMS, mail, voice mail....etc. is there a way to modify the XML file for this? currently there is only ONE notification sound for all events.
Wondered what people's thoughts were on the mail apps that come with the phone? I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?
I just got my Captivate the other day and I was wondering if there are any good e-mail apps for gmail, yahoo mail, and hotmail? I've tried each and the stock but either it won't let me add multiple accounts or it doesn't receive the emails even though there are new ones in my inbox when I check it.
for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.
I want to send an e-mail, and so I use the typical intent --
When I do this, the chooser comes up and gives all kinds of choices, for anything that can handle text/plain i assume, because there's stuff in there that doesn't support "e-mail". How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...
I'm new to Android, so this may be silly questions for the seasoned user, but anyway: I'm now using K-9mail for all my e-mail accounts including G mail. I would like to remove my G mail account from the actual G mail app since I am not using it. How do I do that? Also, if I un install the G mail appl itself, how can I get it installed again if I should want to?
My environment is: 1 Exchange Account - Push 1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly 1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist: 11:50 - New mail hits my inbox. 12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email. 12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time. 14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened. 15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
I tried to set up my pop3 e-mail on my phone last night and I keep getting a "username or password is incorrect" error message on my incoming email. I am able to send e-mail from the phone. The funny thing is that if I check my email from my PC and empty any e-mail's that are in my inbox, then try to check for new e-mail's with my DroidX (knowing that there are none) I do not get any errors. The errors only occur when there are e-mails in my inbox.Didn't have any problems with this setup with the incredible.
