HTC EVO 4G :: How Can I Start Trouble Shooting?

Jul 6, 2010

How can i start trouble shooting? Im starting to get some random lag, similarly like the Hero was.The only thing i can think of is all the downloaded app from market (most of it relating to OpenHome). If this is the case, isnt there a way to save stuff just to the SD?Lag occurrences: Loading "All Apps", dialing numbers or answer/decline calls, sometimes pressing the screen for an option (but i think that is partly because of the screen protector).

HTC EVO 4G :: Shooting For 50 Hours Battery Life

Jun 12, 2010

Update:
40 hours and it finally died!!
36 hours and 16%!!
33 hours and 27%
28 hours and 48% I'm rooted (unrevoked) BUT I'm not running this over/under-clocking widget, nor do I run ATK or any other task killer! In fact, here's some of my pertinent settings:
- Disabled 4G (can't get it where I live anyways)
- WiFi HotSpot (android-wifi-tether) is obviously OFF most of the time
- WiFi is ON, weak signal to boot (AP in back of house)
- BlueTooth is ON, but not active/paired
- GPS is ON
- HTC Weather/Time Widget is on
- Turned off FriendStream widget
- Not running any silly MySpace/FaceBook/Twitter widgets
- Push Email (ActiveSync from Exchange, average about 100 emails and 5 appts per day)
- Calendar alerts were on vibrate most of the past 2 days but I turned that off as I don't need it
- Also have K-9 running IMAP with a 5 min poll
- I use speakerphone at least 50% of the time, and I had about 30 calls over the past 2 days
- I've installed a bunch of apps, but nothing to manage the system/cpu
- I'm running a pre-alpha of the security/anti-malware software I'm building
- All of the Sprint/factory/HTC apps continue to run, but I seldom use them
- I turned of all haptic feedback (uses vibrate) but phone/sms still vibrate
- All other settings are factory, I'm "keeping it simple"

I've had the phone a week basically, and let the phone die COMPLETELY on Thursday morningish, and I charged it up and used it that day and let it charge to 100% that night. I unplugged the phone around 1:30am, this was Thursday night. It was never this good though, I'm really surprised to be honest! Ok, here's the pics. You'll note a whopping 11 hours of Awake time too. Below is from early this morning when I woke up - 1 day 4 hours unplugged: This is from just a moment ago (10am Saturday) - 1 day 8 hours unplugged: Oh and this morning I did some texts, took a couple of short calls, and 2 videos of my daughter's swim meet races.. Oh I also checked all of my work emails, and I had to send these pics to other email so I could get them onto my computer because I didn't want to plug the phone in yet. I'm going to see how long it makes it before it dies.. Shooting for ~50 hours Again, this was from a full charge and includes 1 day, 2 nights, and now another morning thus far. I plan to do but have not yet done the CDMA-GSM trick, the battery green charge on/off trick, and also monitor my TWS at some point - that will be for the next test though, as I don't want to muck with this test (normal every day use test)Edit: I see now if I disabled BlueTooth I'd save the battery even more, as it looks like it's sucking up a lot of battery and for no reason right now since nothing is paired or has been for the past ~24 hours.

General :: Shooting Video But Using Bluetooth Mic?

Sep 7, 2012

I have a Samsung GS3, and I would like to use it to shoot some videos, but I find the mic on the phone to be inadequate for my needs.

The problem is, even when I have a bluetooth mic paired to the phone, the native video recording app still uses the phone's mic.

Am I missing something in a setting that would allow the bluetooth mic to be used in the native video recording app?

Or, is there another video recording app available that would let me use the bluetooth mic?

Samsung Vibrant :: Orange Video When I'm Doing Indoor Shooting / What To Fix It?

Nov 8, 2010

I'm just starting to use the video camera in my vibrant. Overall the video quality is excellent but sometimes when I'm doing indoor shooting, the video has an orange color overlay. Occasionally this will correct itself to a nice natural color part way through the video. I was wondering if this might be due to some automatic color adjustment that I'm not aware of. Has anyone else run into a similar issue?

The HD videos from the phone play very poorly (slow, jerky) on every media player I've tried on my Windows XP computer including VLC and WMP with updated codecs. Converting the .3gp files to .mpg or .wmv format produces a low quality video.

HTC Desire :: Enable Youtube Player Instead Of HTC Flash Player

May 4, 2010

I recently upgraded from a G1 to a Desire.

One feature that's bugging me on the Desire, the default application for Youtube videos seems to be the HTC Flash Player, but I don't want to use this. I would prefer it if it opened with the Youtube player so I can get high quality video when viewing Youtube clips on WIFI - the HTC Flash Player has no settings or option for video quality improvement.

On my G1, every time I opened a link for Youtube (from e.g. the browser or Seesmic), it opened up the Youtube application as the default viewer.

HTC Desire :: "Forced Close" Error / Trouble Shooting App - Something To Run In Hidden Commands?

I have been getting the "Forced closed" error on my Desire.
Have found it so far when I am going into setting to uninstall an app and in Sound Recorder.

I reset to factory settings and it was fine....reinstalled all my apps.
I think one of the apps is causing the issue but don't know which one.

Anyway I can find out - is there a trouble shooting app or something I can run in hidden commands?

However when I go to the Adobe Flash showcase, it says I don't have flash installed. So I search the market place and do not see flash as a download. Is this just something that will come later? Android :: Flash Shared Objects (Flash Cookies)

Sep 22, 2010

Many people don't realize that they have two kinds of "cookies" on their computer. We all know about the familiar ones that web pages can place on our PC's and which we can see and delete with our browsers. But there's another more insidious kind which can be placed on your computer via Flash. These are called Flash Shared Objects, or sometimes "flash cookies" and they were disigned to provide inter-session persistency but are, in practice, used the same way cookies are. On a PC they're found in C:Documents and Settings***user***Application DataMacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjects and/or C:Documents and Settings***user***Application DataMacromediaFlash Playermacromedia.comsupportflashplayersys. They are a huge privacy violation.Browsers do not normally delete these although you can get a plugin for Firefox that does.My Question: Now that Android supports Flash, how do we get rid of these things from our Android devices?

HTC Eris :: Enable Or Disable JIT On ROM?

Jul 30, 2010

For those of you looking to either Enable JIT or Disable JIT on a ROM that has JIT built in (or you've manually flashed it) and decided you wanted to remove it. I had a little trouble searching so I figured I'd post it with a simple logical subject line for future searching.

In the /System Directory you need to fine the file called:
build.prop
then edit the line:
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit
to say:
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:fast
and revsere it to enable it back (fast to jit)

You can do this a few ways.
1. Use a file explorer on your phone (such as ES File Explorer) or Root Explorer find the direcotry /system make sure the drive is R/W (read/write). Open the file, build.prop, then scroll down to the bottom of the file and it should be within the bottom 5 lines and do as stated above.

2. Use adb commands, connect phone via USB.
adb remount
abd pull /system/build.prop build.prop
On your PC find this in your c:"androidsdkdirecotryhere"
ools and edit with your favorite text editor.
then save the file, and go back to your cmd window and type
adb remount
abd pull /system/build.prop build.prop
