HTC Droid Eris :: Replacing Digitizer - How To Do?

Apr 21, 2010

I think at this point the cheapest option would be for me to buy a replacement digitizer ($65) and try and do the replacement myself. Does anyone know how to do this? Or know of a youtube link or website that has step by step instructions for replacing the digitizer?

Samsung Moment :: Help Replacing Digitizer?

Sep 15, 2010

My 14yo daughter worked a summer job during the school break and with her hard earned $$ she purchased her "baby"... a Samsung Moment SPH-M900. She is so proud she bought it with her own money & you couldn't pry it from her fingers. Well... to get onto my subject matter; three weeks later (and on her 14th birthday) she accidently dropped it and shattered the glass lens over the lcd touch screen. Imagine her disappointment! Surprisingly, everything on the phone still works. We've obtained a few repair quotes, but $100 to $120 is a bit out-of-budget for her and us (parents) at this time. However, I did order a replacement digitizer I found on line by OEM for $25 that comes with two tools for the job. I am an experienced modeler as well as electronic savy yet my daughter is very reluctant in allowing me to do surgery on her baby. Can anyone instruct me on this proceedure or direct me to a site with schematics and/or details of the repair to help ease her conscience?

General :: Nexus 4 Stuck At Boot Screen After Replacing LCD / Digitizer?

Apr 18, 2014

I just replaced my LCD and digitizer on my Nexus 4 after i dropped it and the screen cracked. It was still in working condition after the damage, but the touch screen was unresponsive. The installation went pretty smoothly but when I went to boot it up after it gets stuck at the bootup screen with the 4 bubbles. I tried some of the solutions people found for a similar problem a few months back when Google released Kit Kat 4.4 for the Nexus 4 but none of them have worked for me. There doesn't seem to be any hardware functionality issues, just some software glitch that I can't figure out.

Sony Ericsson :: Replace Digitizer In Xperia X10 To A Dual / Multi - Touch Digitizer?

Aug 10, 2010

Multi-touch issue, was promised late last year then was announced that it wasn't going to happen, can we replace the digitizer so we can get dual/multi-touch? Ninth Issue Now it seems that SE don't want to talk about Multi-touch, I just don't understand how come Xperia X10 has a single touch digitizer but X10mini has a dual touch digitizer but it's disabled so it can only work as a single touch. My question is this: Can we replace the digitizer in the Xperia X10 to a Dual or Multi-touch digitizer? Multi-touch fiasco: SE kept saying that Xperia X10 was Dual/Multiple touch capable, it was confirmed during Mobile World Congress, it was later "corrected", and Sumit Malhotra in the official Sony Ericsson blog said that the Xperia X10 was going to have Multi-touch with an OS update which few months later and after thousands of unanswered post by customers and SE fans we learned the truth that its not software but a hardware issue, in other words, its cheaper for SE to buy single touch digitizer for a 4inch screen than ironically buying a dual touch digitizer for the x10 mini but block it through software, yeah the x10 mini has hardware capable of dual touch but: " I noted some of your comments asking for the multi touch support. Having shared our personal experiences using the new UI within our team, we just love it the way it is and think that multi-touch would actually just destroy the simplicity of using these products. To avoid any speculation I can confirm that we do not have any intention to implement multi touch on X10 mini and X10 mini pro." HTC Droid Eris :: Replacing Sense Components

Aug 25, 2010

I'm trying a run without sense to hopefully relieve a lot of the lag problems I've been having. I know I should root, but I don't want to while I'm still under warranty and I'd like to give it a try without to see if I would like it without sense. I have launcher pro installed with home switcher and that seems to have changed over fine(with one incident where my sense home came up). The problems I'm having are with the messaging and dialer apps. I've installed handcent and like it, but I still get the notifications for the sense messaging app, so now I get two every text messaged. Also I've installed Dialer one, but the green phone button still fires up the stock dialer. Is there any way to fully replace these parts without rooting? I also really want the calendar app back, is the launcher pro one similar enough? I like seeing the whole month and being able to scroll with just the widget.

HTC Droid Eris :: Replacing The Native Phone Application?

Are there any applications out there to take the place of the HTC phone display? It seems kind of clunky, unintuitive and easy to miscue to me. I was wondering since it seems like there are superior non-native apps for every other phone function, but I haven't found one for the phone itself.

General :: Evo 4G Digitizer Keeps Cracking?

Mar 28, 2012

I have replaced my Evo4g digitizer following a major fall. I had to replace the lcd screen as well. Since then, my Evo has had to have the digitizer replaced twice in the past two weeks due to it cracking. It cracks with very little, if any pressure is put on it, as it is in my pocket when this occurs. Why would my digitizer keep cracking? What could I have possibly done wrong during the replacement process that would cause the digitizer to crack?

General :: Can't Drag Anything With New HTC Sensation Digitizer

Dec 7, 2012

I bought a new screen for my HTC Sensation and now I can't drag. I can still tap stuff, but it's not as responsive. I downloaded several touchscreen testing apps and it seems like when I press the screen for more than 1 second, the digitizer can no longer detect my touch. So if I try to drag something, it works for 1 second, then the screen can't detect my finger anymore.

Is this a problem with the new digitizer or is this a software issue? I'm using ViperS 1.4.1.

HTC Desire :: Water Damage / Will New Digitizer Fix Touchscreen?

Aug 4, 2010

So I got caught in the rain and the phone died. I tried to turn it on the day after and the touchscreen was completely weird, it acted like I pushed all over the place. I turned it off and put it in rice for 4-5 days. When I turned it on the bottom half of the screen worked for a day, then it stopped working again. I put it in rice for about 10 days, then I used a hairdryer for about 5 hours on low heat.

Now, still only half the touchscreen works. Sometimes it wants to go helicopter view when I'm only using one finger, sometimes the notification bar is activated if I'm playing around in the lower regions and sometimes the screen stops being responsive at all. Thinking I'm the handyman I just ordered a new digitizer, but I have no real idea if that's the problem or not. Can something have corroded inside and caused this, or will a new digitizer most likely fix this?

New digitizer: 40 usd. Insurance: 160 usd. Obviously I want it to be the digitizer

General :: How To Retrieve Data From GSII Internal Storage With Broken Digitizer

May 26, 2013

This phone was my dads until he got a new one, but he only has a limited amount of time to retrieve the data before it goes back to T-mobile or else he has to pay money for the broken phone core. It was dropped, and broke the digitizer but not the screen. As of now, the display doesn't work at all, but I can hear the phone turn on just fine. I have been trying to think of how I can access the internal storage without tearing the phone apart and getting to the storage directly(not sure if that would work either).

- Model Number SGH - T989

- Not rooted

- USB debugging not enabled. I thought I might be able to get to the storage via adb, but that will be useless without usb debugging activated.

HTC Desire :: Replacing SD Card

Apr 1, 2010

I've ordered a 16GB SD card to replace the 4GB SD card that T-Mobile supplied. Obviously, there are files already on the SD card, so what I intend to do is:

1) Connect the Desire to my PC and copy all the files to a temporary folder.

2) Disconnect the Desire.

3) Unmount the SD Card and turn the Desire off.

4) Remove the existing SD card.

5) Insert the new SD card.

6) Turn the Desire back on (not sure whether I need to mount the SD card again).

7) Connect the Desire to my PC.

8) Copy all the files from the temporary folder to the new SD card.

This makes sense, but I'm just concerned that it might mess up any applications before I've copied the files onto the new SD card. I don't have a card reader, so can't copy the files before inserting it.I've just read Upgrade sdcard howto - Android Forums and it seems to agree with my procedure.Does anybody have any other ideas? I don't want to break my lovely Desire.

You can make it more generic also by saying "next time I'm in Woodbury, remind me to pick up my wife's gift" and the next time I drive through Woodbury, another reminder. I also use it by saying things like, "in two weeks remind me to xx" or "on June 15th at 2pm remind me to xx".

General :: HTC Wildfire S - How To Know When Battery Needs Replacing

May 27, 2012

My 8 month old HTC Wildfire S is really acting up lately. Its been restarting on it's own, and in an endless loop of boot screens. Sometimes it boots up correctly, but it just restarts again and gets stuck there. The last time it managed to successfully boot, I notice the icon for the battery wouldn't budge no matter how long I charged it for. In addition, the battery has been getting burning hot when it's just sitting there and doing nothing.

I tried factory reset twice -- but the problem still persisted. The second time I didn't download any of my apps or open anything, and it still crashed.

I've ordered a new battery, but I really don't know if its even the problem. I had an iPhone for the longest time before this, so I'm not familiar with the Droid. And mine isn't rooted either. Was I right to order a new battery?
