HTC Droid Eris :: Amazon Eris For One Cent

Apr 6, 2010

On the Amazon wireless site I see that I can upgrade my contract ( I am due in 5 days) with an Eris for a penny. The only catch I can see is that one must stick with the selected plan for 180 days (kind of a no brainer since nowadays two years is the norm). So I emailed Verizon to see if they could match the deal. Here is the response I received."Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless, my name is Chris, and I regret to say that we will not match third part pricing but I can say there is more value when going thru us directly.Since Verizon Wireless offers a wide variety of calling plans, promotions, and wireless devices to meet your needs, we do not discount our service or "match" the offers of other sellers. With Verizon Wireless you will enjoy the nations most reliable wireless network and our award-winning Customer Service.

Android :: Builtin Gmail Application - Better Default Text Messaging?

Sep 10, 2010

I'm gonna be buying the Samsung Galaxy S in a couple of hours and I wanted to ask y'all: 1.) Is there a built in GMail app or do I have to download something new? 2.) Is the default text messaging good or do I need to download something better? 3.) What is a good browser for this phone? Are there any cool tricks which you guys would like to share? I went through the stickies and looked at how I can protect myself from Malware, etc. I think I know the basics. I apologize if I sound silly, this is my first Android phone and the reason why I am getting it is because of the awesome reviews. I'm also shifting from being a devout Nokia user to something totally different so I am kinda anxious, you know?

Motorola Droid :: Strange Behavior Of Default Messaging App

Nov 29, 2009

I am having some problems with the default messaging app. Everything was fine until I downloaded Handcent. After playing around with Handcent, I decided to remove it. After I did, when I tried to send a picture with the default client, it would appear to send properly, but the person I was sending too would get a notification that the attached media was 'too large' or something similar, and not be able to view the picture Finally, I reinstalled Handcent and could send pictures from it just fine. I noticed that Handcent asks to resize pictures when sending where the default app does not. I could not find any settings for 'resize' in the default app. I figured I just had a bug with the default client, and continued to use Handcent with no problems. I would periodically check the default client, with the same results. Finally, after several days of using nothing BUT Handcent, I decided to give the default app another try, and now I find that it is working again with no problems, and in fact, the pictures I send with it that are apparently NOT resized look better on the phones I send them to than the ones I send with Handcent. Has anyone else had a problem like this, or know what could be going on?

Motorola Droid X :: Vanilla ROM - Best Compatible Messaging Application Available?

Sep 3, 2010

The reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?

Problem:
Steps to Create force close everytime in Messaging:
1. Compose new message
2. Type in "D"
3. Type in "A"
4. *Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped (no wait button to choose)
Once A is typed it always force closes (40 times in a row).

HTC Incredible :: Change Default Messaging App

First post here. I tried searching (a lot) and couldn't find the answer. You know the box that pops up when you send a text that asks what app you want to use? There is a message at the bottom that tells you how to change defaults once you check the "don't ask me again" box. I didn't bother to read that and now can't find where to change the default. Anyone know or can someone look at that box and read what it says at the bottom? I can't anymore since I chose a default and the box no longer pops up.

Also noticed on some but not all of the text messages I get, the CB# appears on each one. Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Is there any way to stop this from appearing in each text I receive? The weird thing is, it does not happen for all users in my contact list, just a few.
