HTC Droid Eris :: Facebook Apps Cant See Photo Albums From Friends
May 5, 2010
When I try to use Sense to view photo albums for one friend, it shows that they have zero photo albums. The official facebook app does the same. If I use the browser to visit her profile, I can see her numerous photo albums easily, but damnit! I want the software to work like it's designed and this little bug seems so bizarre. As far as I can tell, the missing albums bug only applies to this one friend. I would be able to easily overlook the bug except that one friend is my fiancee.
Is anyone else having a problem viewing photos on Facebook using the browser? When I open a friend's album it shows the thumbnails and once I click on a picture it brings up a (flash looking) photo viewer window. This doesn't allow you comment, like, or view comments on the pictures. Is there a different way to view these, am I missing something?
I noticed all my facebook friends are in my phonebook. I downloaded handcent and they do not show up in there because i disabled it. but when i press "phone" they show up. is there any way of fixing this i have been looking around for awhile and cannot figure it out.
I am having trouble linking my Facebook contacts... I upgraded to 2.0 today and when I attempt to search for and link a Facebook profile to the phonebook entry, it tells me "no matches found." I've tried reSyncing and restarting, and nothing helps.
So when i press the phone button to make a call there is a list thats way bigger than just my phone contacts. It automatically synced all of my facebook friends that had there phone numbers on their profile. I dont want all of these people in my contacts. How should i go about doing this? Should i just manually delete them? I did get the new 2.1.
I have a droidx 2. I am trying to create a photo album to send to friends. I tried to figure it out on my own and it shows a little icon that made an album, and I have supposedly inserted photos into it, but when I click on it, it doesn't show the pictures in the album. So I don'tdont even know if they are in there or what. how to send it via email if possible. I have the entire droidx 2 64-pg manual downloaded to my device, and none of it says anything about albums.
I saw a previous thread (Changing my contact card picture) where a similar question was never quite resolved. I have the same issue except that my contact card has automatically synced to my facebook and I would prefer to change to a different picture that is not my facebook profile picture. There's no option to do so under people->my contact card and if I go to a picture in my albums it only lets me set the photo for a contact that is not me.
I'd like to snap a photo on the Eris and upload to Facebook with a comment. It seems the built-in app that came with the Eris doesn't allow comments to be posted. I tried Bloo, which does allow comments, but the photos don't appear in Facebook until I go to my page and approve the photos. Am I missing a way to comment with the built-in app, or a way to have the photos appear without special approval with Bloo? Or is there a better app for this.
Like everyone who's updated to 2.1, I'm experiencin the same bugs with Facebook (i.e. all my FB contacts show up in my dialer and my txt msgs). Anyways, I was toolin around in Accounts & Sync under Settings. Right now, the accounts I have set up are Google, Weather, and Facebook for HTC Sense. When I click Add an Account, there's something called just "Facebook," in addition to the "Facebook for HTC Sense."I've always known there were two Facebook apps (or whatever you wanna call them) on my phone, cause when I want to share a pic I take, I can do it using either "Facebook" or "Facebook for HTC Sense." I always share the picture using "Facebook" because it allows me to post a comment as well.Anyways, getting back to Accounts & Sync, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how these two apps differ. Maybe if I choose to sync the "Facebook" account as opposed to "Facebook for HTC Sense," that could solve some of these issues we're all having? I have no idea, but I'm hesitant to do anything for fear of clogging up my phone's contact list with Facebook friends.
I just transferred a bunch of pictures (over 2000) from my ipod to my mytouch 4g slide. I had them all in neat little albums on the ipod and i would like to do the same on my phone. Problem is i cant figure out how, other than putting the files into separate folders on my sd card, which i don't like because i like to have a general folder of all of them together with separate albums for specific things, and sometimes a picture would go into more than one album. Is there an app or a way to do this on my phone, I don't mind if the app creates copies of my pictures as long as the original files are left untouched. And is there a way to organize my pictures by name rather than date? Because when I transferred them it don't keep date it was added but rather the date i copied it, and when organized by name its correct because of the numbers in the file name.
Is there any way to only link the contacts you already have on your phone to facebook friends? when I add Facebook to messages, my contacts show all the contacts i added into my phone + ALL MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS! i just want the facebook to be linked to the contacts i have on my phone.. if i try to delete some of the facebook people (no phone numbers, just facebook info), it says that im deleting them from my facebook friends list.
Since I got my Droid X a few days ago I have been plagued by contact syncing issues and most notably how they relate to the facebook apps, both the Motorola Facebook and the Android market facebook. My suspicion is that these bugs are behind the comic sluggishness of my brand new phone. Here are the bugs I've discovered in the hopes that someone has a solution for me, or that the developers will catch on.
Motorola Facebook Issues: This app imports ALL of your facebook friends to your contacts. There is no way to turn this off. I have over 1,000 facebook friends, most of whom I will never contact on the phone. This is exceedingly annoying. In reality I have about 300 contacts that I actually want in my phone which I imported easily from google. The Motorola facebook app did seem to sync up with these contacts just fine adding pictures, emails etc. Only problem was it brought everyone else along with it.
Market Facebook Issues: - Despite setting my sync preferences to only syncing data to existing contacts, Facebook will still add anybody with a phone number attached to their facebook account to "Phone Contacts." "Phone Contacts" are different from "All Contacts" (bizarre), so it's not quite as bad as the Motorola FB importing everyone of my fb friends (phone # or not) to "All contacts", but it's still very, very annoying.
- The app will not sync pictures to contacts.
- The app creates dozens and dozens (in my case 43) "linked profiles" to each of my contacts. I am guessing this is what is causing the ridiculous sluggishness of my phone.
Conclusions: - I am going to fully delete the Market FB app from my phone along with the data it added to my contacts.
- Since I really love having pics/fb info attached to my contacts, I am going to try using the Moto FB app by itself and just live with the 1000 or so contacts. This will be the first time I am trying the moto app w/o the market app. I am hoping this solves the sluggishness which I suspect has to do with the "linked profiles" created by the Market FB app.
Currently my phone is in the process of deleting the market FB app which is taking FOREVER. I will keep you all posted. And I'd love to hear if anyone else is having similar problems.
Be attentive in the very first time? Try "Friend's Calling"! Hard to keep update buddies? Answer a call and have no idea what to chat with? With Friend's Calling, while friend calling, screen shows his/her facebook wall data in seconds. It matchs phone contacts with facebook friends automatically in first time you use.
When receiving a call It shows your friends recent facebook wall status
**Match automatically. The program match automatically as long as your friends name on your phone is same as his facebook name.
Now the icon on the right side means matching successfully.
**Match manually You have to search by yourself if the name on your phone is different from his facebook name.
Then searching his name on tag of facebook list
Also you can see the matching successfully icon to the right side of the name.

Sync my pix apk sucks. removed some bloat ware using titbck up. I backed all apps b4 removing. But titbck up won't let me restore them. They have a strike through line on them. I need the social networking.apk and motoblur contacts sync apk. Can somebody up loaf or let me know how to restore them. I'm thinking about sbf'or will a factory data reset be ok?
I dont know if this has been disscussed but I was needing some support on on the photo albums. Is their a way to put your photos in differnt albums?? I have been trying to figure it out for a month now and still cant figure it out. I'm sure there's a way to do since it has a album section...
some of my albums are syncing (my main pictures album), but my screenshots are not. How can I fix it so my screenshots also sync to Google+ or at least to google drive? Note that my phone is not rooted
Go ahead and download opera mini 5 beta. It has the best facebook app on its homepage and IMO it is way superior to any out there. The browsing is super fast and you have the ability to download videos from your favorite sites to your sd card. Probably my favorite app side from personal assistant.
Everything went fine, downloaded and installed in about a half hour. I was pleasantly surprised all of my contacts showed up, all my apps were still there just like I had it when I had 1.5. Oh, and texts and recent calls still being there was another plus. One thing doesn't seem to be working though. My albums are gone! Well, not really. They're still on the SD card with their respective pictures in them, in the albumthumbs folder. I can't see them on the phone, though. My question is this: Does anyone else have this problem? And has anyone fixed it? I tried unmounting the card and remounting, and they still didn't show up. Is there another directory they have to be in with 2.1?
I have the Android Facebook-Connect library running in my emulator and I'm able to set my status with the Facebook API I have setup. However, I don't know where to go from there? Am I supposed to use the session key that this library allows me to get and make some Facebook API calls? I haven't found any code examples to even see what the proper syntax is. Am I better off using another library? I tried fbrocket with limited luck(I get a "server error 104 - Incorrect signature").
Since getting my phone a month ago I have been showing it off like a felon.
Anyways I noticed that everyone I have showed the phone to has had to yonk it out of my hand to play with( which is sorta irritating considering they could just go to verizon to check it out)
Two of my friends have even claimed that their phones stopped working in the past month to go get themselves a new phone. One is getting the incredible and the other has gotten the iphone ( cause hes a chump).
Before I proceed, I would like to say that despite the complaints that follow, I absolutely love my Droid Eris.
1) First and foremost, the four front screen "buttons". These are a major source of aggravation for me. I would estimate that they only work about 25% of the time. The only way to get them to register my commands is to swipe them up or down which usually results in unwanted "taps" on other on screen functios.
2) The pinch zoom function worked great for the first week. Now I can very rarely get it to work.
3) Major lag when flipping through pictures in albums. Major! It's absolutely ridiculous. They're only thumbnails!
4) HTC flash only seems to work for about ten videos. After that, it just won't open when I try to play a video. They only way to get it back is to kill browser with task killer.
5) Not really a complaint, but it would be nice if the browser had options for on screen navigation buttons like back, home, bookmarks, Windows(tabs), etc.
6) The weather and clock widget displays the wrong weather, city, and time at least 95% of the time. The clock is the worst. Not even the same time zone which is extremely uncool. I very rarely look at the small system clock so it has caused me problems on more than a few occasions.
All of this I can live with...except for the four front screen buttons. They aggravate me to the point that I've wanted to throw the phone accross the room on more than one occasion.
I have an HTC Incredible and it worked fine, but I accidentally took facebook off the sync list, I put it back on and logged on. When I use the facebook app everything is fine, but the people apt thinks I have no facebook friends and so I can't sync any of them to my contact list!
I have the HTC Incredible and use the Facebook app. Yesterday I added a new friend and she doesn't show up on my friend list in the Facebook app and I can't link her phone number with her profile because it doesn't show up. Any ideas? I've tried resyncing and restarting the phone. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
