HTC Droid Eris :: Facebook Widget - Update Not Available

Last night I noticed that the Facebook Widget displayed a message "update not available". If you clicked the "F" to go to your profile, newsfeed that worked. However the newsfeed that pushes to the widget stopped. I haven't changed my settings and everything else is updating regularly. I removed the widget, replaced it and it just shows up blank and the "F" no longer hot links. However, from the same program, I can add the shortcut to Facebook and that works.

Is there a Twitter/Facebook widget (social networking/statuses) to update statuses? I had one on my DroidX but can't seem to find/figure it out on here.

I recently updated my phone to the latest Droid release from Verison. I see some pretty good improvements over 1.5, but now I've installed the latest update of the 'official' face book app, and the Face book widget no longer works! I get 'problem loading gadget' where the widget should appear on my phone The app still works if I click on the icon, but the widget is now 'broken'. Anyone else have this problem?

On the Droid Eris, My contacts are all good with their profile pictures and their status updates are doing fine. The only thing is that my personal picture is my old profile picture on Facebook and it won't update.
Is there any way to change your own profile picture so I don't have to look at an old picture all the time?

I have been getting a weird "error fetching data [null]" type error for the past several days. I went to the marketplace and downloaded Facebook for Android to try and fix the problem. It does seem to have worked, however now my facebook widget will NOT update. It's so weird because under the actual facebook app everything is up to date in the news feed... but the widget is showing an old status update from several hours ago with no changes since. the really weird thing is that it has actually updated since I replaced Facebook for Android so I'm not sure if they are even related. I have tried changing my syncing settings several different ways but no change. What is going on?

Girlfriend just got the 2.1 OTA update and there only seems to be one clock widget. What am I missing here? The android widgets only show an analog clock and I can't find any widgets under HTC widgets. Nothing. At all. No widgets whatsoever... Anybody had this issue, can help me out here? I'm waiting for my OTA update and would love to have this fixed before I get my phone updated.

HTC Weather Widget always worked fine. Not sure when it quit but now it is stuck on New York (where I have never had the phone ...), wont display the current location, and wont update the temps.

Im looking for a widget that allows me to update Facebook and Twitter from the homescreen without launching an app. It only needs to update, I dont need to see friends statuses or my Facebook wall or Tweets or anything just a status updater widget.

It looks just like the Lpp calendar widget, and works great so far. Do the update if you're using this home app, and you'll get the Facebook widget under Lpp widgets.

This is just a little pet peev wondering if someone has an answer. How do i update the pics that are pulled down from facebook into contacts and the favorites widget. My friends have changed photos and they don't seem to change on the phone.

Like everyone who's updated to 2.1, I'm experiencin the same bugs with Facebook (i.e. all my FB contacts show up in my dialer and my txt msgs). Anyways, I was toolin around in Accounts & Sync under Settings. Right now, the accounts I have set up are Google, Weather, and Facebook for HTC Sense. When I click Add an Account, there's something called just "Facebook," in addition to the "Facebook for HTC Sense."I've always known there were two Facebook apps (or whatever you wanna call them) on my phone, cause when I want to share a pic I take, I can do it using either "Facebook" or "Facebook for HTC Sense." I always share the picture using "Facebook" because it allows me to post a comment as well.Anyways, getting back to Accounts & Sync, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how these two apps differ. Maybe if I choose to sync the "Facebook" account as opposed to "Facebook for HTC Sense," that could solve some of these issues we're all having? I have no idea, but I'm hesitant to do anything for fear of clogging up my phone's contact list with Facebook friends.

Has anyone figured out the difference between syncing Facebook for HTC Sense in the account syncing section vs. plain Facebook? I am trying to figure out if the one I'm using (Facebok for HTC Sense) is using up too much memory.
My phone memory is around 33% whereas my husband's memory is 64%! He has very few contacts and I'm wondering if the syncing with Facebook is taking up all my phone memory (vs SD Card memory which is fine).

I am probably reposting, but i can't find the exact answer im looking for (if you know the thread, please link it).
Facebook for HTC Sense is a POS. We all know that. But what is killing me is that I can set up a "sync" my HTC Eris with Fb for HTC Sense (that doesnt actually sync) but not for the standard Facebook app.
The HTC Sense Facebook App does a terrible job of syncing contacts w/ the phone, so I am trying to do it thru the Facebook for Android App.
I) Should I just keep on trying with the HTC App even tho its not fully working or syncing?
When I go to Menu> Settings> Accounts&sync>Add account (after removing sycing w/ FB for HTC Sense) I can add an account for: Facebook -or- Facebook for HTC Sense.
But, when I try to click on Facebook, nothing happens. Fb for HTC still works and I can add the account to that, but I wont get the contacts again. (I think).
II) What is going on w/ my Facebook for Android app? (I have updated it, too).

Actually this question applies to any widget that requires data from a remote server.
The answer would be pure speculation, but how do you think the widget gets its data? For those that don't know, the widget shows a history of your friends' latest status updates.
Some answers that I can think of:
The widget polls the API directly
The widget grabs data from some
service that's running in the
background, which polls the server
Somehow Facebook implemented push on
Android which I don't think exists
The widget somehow detects that the
user is using the screen and grabs
the data on demand

So yesterday i went to my facebook app, a Captcha or whatever where you have to enter the letters correctly came up. I entered it correctly. Which the shit was weird cause never ever seen that before. Once i entered it, the app deleted itself and now i cant download it. But the facebook icon is still in my launcher and its the way older version. I am rooted with just the Revolution theme installed. I have Bootsrapper and rom manager. I also created a full back up before i installed REVOlution. Any one have any ideas on how to fix that?

When i first got the phone, i opened up facebook. It updated my contacts with everything on there. Then i went to text my friend and accidentally deleted her from my contact list. I put her number back in but it won't update from facebook or show up when i want to text her. Can someone help me out?

Since the Facebook app update was released, I've tried to update it. It will download it, then say installing, then say installation failed. I have a rooted and themed DX, so I tried to even rename the facebook.apk to a backup, then install fresh from the market. The installation still fails.

Ever since I insalled the update I can not look at mine or anyone elses profile on the full site of facebook. Its just blank, like it doesn't load properly. I'm using dolphin btw.
And also through the browser I go to click on a youtube vid and it never loads. Nothing happens. I have to copy and paste the link in the youtube app....its kind of a drag.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Is there a fix? Or am I just going to have to suck it up?

I have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook).To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever. Thank you very much.

I can create a static widget without thinking, I can even create a widget like the analogue clock widget that will update itself, however, I can not for the life of me figure out how to create a widget that reacts to when a user clicks on it. Here is the best code sample that the developer documentation gives to what a widget activity should contain (the only other hint being the API demos, which only creates a static widget):

I had no clue what it was until I checked the nav bar, and saw it was a facebook update. Wow, I thought, maybe they fixed the facebook app in the background without forcing me to update. Haven't seen the blue light since, and it has been 2 days and 7-9 notifications later.
Any idea when they will fix the facebook app? Or better yet, any idea how I got it to light up once randomly? It was somebody posting a comment on my wall post fyi (and the notifications still don't refresh in the app itself). Also, why can't I view linked youtube videos from other peoples comments? Obviously the droid can use youtube, so it seems odd that they wouldn't let you watch posted videos.

So when you enter a new contact, if you have your facebook account synced, it will automatically put the contact's picture in there for you...BUT when someone updates their picture (as I know some have) it does not seem to update under my contacts. How do I fix this?

Why is it that with "Sync of WiFi" and refresh interval at never, does my Facebook app STILL update and refresh on it's own?
Anyone else notice this? I am only on WiFi at home, but this thing syncs while at work for 9 hours and not connected to WiFi.

How does one update the facebook or twitter pic in the phone contacts? Several of my contacts have new facebook pics, but they are not refreshing on my phone.
Ive tried the menu button while in contacts, and I don't see a refresh button.
