Hi can anyone help I have only had my htc desire a few weeks and now the power button does not seem to be working the phone goes on to standby when not in use but when i press the power button it's not coming back on unless i ring the phone. it's also not turning off when i press it, any ideas?

I've been scouring the web a solution to this but can't seem to find it anywhere. I know it's possible to end a phone call on the Desire by pressing the power button after enabling it in settings. But when I go to Settings/Accessibility I get a pop-up message saying, 'No accessibility related application found. You can download a screen reader for your device from Android Market. Click OK to install the screen reader.'If I press 'Cancel' I'm in the accessibility settings with a single grayed-out 'Accessibility' option. But no other options are available.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI could not charge the handset and it automatically powered down last night. Thereafter I restarted it again without charging it and as expected it powered down after a few minutes.This morning I plugged in the handset for charging and then pressed the power button to put the handset in to 'sleep', to my surprise it did not work. I ignored it and left it for charging and when I checked back the handset had automatically gone to 'sleep'. I tried to wake it up by pressing the power button, but it did not work.The only way I can wake up the handset is either by calling it or plugging in the charger. I tried all of the following but none of them worked.
1. Removed the battery and left the handset for a few minutes and restarted it.
2. Removed the SD card and restarted it.
3. Removed the SIM card and restarted it.
4. Removed both the SD and SIM cards and restarted it.
I dropped my htc desire today.Now i realised that my power button doesnt turn on the screen after standby, so i have to take out the battery and turn it on again ( YES THE POWER BUTTON ACTUALLY DOES TURN ON THE PHONE)
Soo, is it caused by the drop, or is it a sofware issue?
I've read around that with Froyo you can go into Settings> Accessibility and turn on a feature called Power button ends call. Fairly obvious what it does, but i can't find it. Is it not available on the desire. If so, is there an app for that, or some other way to do it?

Got caught in a torrential downpour this afternoon to find my wallet and phone somewhat damp after being in my soaking jeans.Power button no longer works so effectively once the screen saver kicks in I cant unlock it. Thankfully its still within warranty so will take it back to get a replacement.This is the 2nd phone I've had that has suffered this prob. My previous phone, a dreadful Sony Ericsson died a death.Avoiding the rain is somewhat unavoidable when you live in Scotland. MakingTaking a phonecall in the rain is sometimes a necessary evil. I really have to question the build quality of some of the modern phones. Do they even test the use of phones in the rain? It seems somewhat of a basic function, and to have such a major malfunction with such minimal exposure to rain is quite disappointing to say the least, especially when it never came into direct contact.

This never happened until recently but is now quite a regular thing. In order to put it into stand by i have to press the button several times before it decides to do what I'm telling it to.

View 21 Replies View RelatedOne big problem I've noticed is that when you need to have your phone switched off (e.g. on an aircraft, etc.) it's all too easy for the phone to switch itself on whilst in your pocket - the "power on" button just needs the slightest tap and then it springs into life.I know whilst on a plane I could pre-set it to in-flight mode before powering it off, but that's not the point. Like when powering the phone off, there is a delay and a set of menu options. I'd like something similar for powering the phone on - programmable delay and/or combination of pressing say home and the "power on" button.Does anyone know of an app or some code I could run to alter the way the phone behaves ?. Not sure if the only way to add this functionality is part of a flash update as it needs to survive a power off, etc.

i read somewhere that *#*#7594*#*# will disable this dialog box and directly switch off the phone but this is not happening

Send me pictures or anything of the sort showing how to do this? I really need to fix it, and I want to do it myself, but I don't want to turn my phone into a paperweight. Good thing that sliding the keyboard out wakes the screen so I can unlock it.I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem or is it possible this is just a defect and I should get a replacement also I have tried doing the factory reset to see if it was some app I may have installed causing the problem but its still not working.

The OS and software were cutting edge and all who saw were gob smacked. So, the G5 having been discontinued 4 years and 10 days ago, and Tiger under 3 years ago, things are different.I can't connect my phone to my computer through usb or Bluetooth.Is it faulty hardware on my end or are they known to be incompatible?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter being a dedicated bb user, I recently switched to a droid. I'm completely satisfied, however, I have had a small issue with my lock/power button. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but my power/lock button seems to be "stuck". I can still push it, but it's not as "click able" as when I first purchased it. I wish I could explain it better. I actually went to verizon a few days ago, and they weren't much help. The tech actually sprayed some of that air in a can stuff, which temporarily made it better. However, it now seems stuck again. Has anyone had this problem? Sorry for being such a new b!

All was good until today when I woke up and the power button didn't work.It was intermittently working this afternoon, and now it does nothing.I was ready to unroot the phone so I could take it back to Verizon when I realized that I can't get into the bootloader screen without the power button.I tried holding the D-pad up while reinstalling the battery and I also tried the camera and volume down buttons while reinstalling the battery.The battery removal and reinstall just doesn't seem to be working to put it into the bootloader screen.

Screen shot function is not working on my mobile. Vol down and Power button combo is not working.
When I installed another application for this, the following error message was received.
"Internal screenshot function is not working"
my galaxy s2,it is rooted,and i have another problem : the phone restarts by itself and gets stucked in the boot loop, i never flashed a new rom ,it is running the stock rom,Someday i needed to factory reset the phone so i rebooted into recovery mode (power + home button +vol up) ,. I booted into recovery mode but the power button does NOT react as 'select' button although it works just fine for power on and off. I select a function and press [power] an the first line becomes the selected. pushing it again just flashed the screen. But pressing it long turns the phone off,and even after the factory reset from phone directly(with out going to recovery mode)

Before when in the middle of a call or to hang up a call i just pull the phone away from my head and the screen would come on... or, i would have to use the power up button on the top of the device then swipe to unlock. Now in the middle of a call the power button is not working nor does the screen illuminate when i pull away from my head.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi rarely have the need to turn the phone completely off but i did attempt it last night it came up with the "power off shutting down box" with the spinning "thinking wheel" and the screen went black but when i came to turn it back on 3 hours later it still had exactly the same thing on the screen "power off shutting down"
the only way to completely cycle the power then was to remove the battery.
I have used Lambrospowers (XDA Forum) Rosie patch to enable drag n drop when in helicopter (leap) view. It works flawlessly on my rooted stock Froyo Desire. If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.

This thing happened 4 times today. And another problem is turning on the Desire. Sometimes the phone vibrates shortly for 5-6 times and cannot turn on unless I take out the battery and re-insert it. What's wrong with the phone?

I looked across the forum and found that the best thing to do was reset the phone. I did this and all was perfect once more until I went to go to college and was listening to music but couldn't change tracks or pause using the hands-free kit. I have no idea how to get it working again and don't know if the reset had anything to do with it stopping working. All I know is it worked perfectly the other day.
