HTC Desire :: Google Talk Shortcut In People Gone - FroYo Bug?
Aug 16, 2010I've been running the official OTA HTC FroYo update for a few weeks now and haven't really had any problems. However, today I noticed that the Google Talk shortcut when tapping a contact's photo has disappeared and has been replaced with another Phone icon. When clicking this icon I am prompted to choose from a list of completely unrelated applications to complete the action with? Google Talk is NOT listed on this screen. This icon only shows up on contacts who are online on Google Talk, so I assume that the 2.2 update has somehow broken the Talk shortcut in the phonebook?
I've taken a few screenshots to help explain the error:
I clicked some of activities listed, and most would do nothing/just open normally, apart from when I chose "People" and came across a dialer screen that I've never seen before:
It's listed under "People com.android.htcdialer" and looks quite nice but I haven't figured out a way to access it apart from navigating through the Google Talk error! Has anyone else seen this screen?
Android :: Apps Not Able To Edit Email Docs / Send Edited Docs?
Oct 6, 2010I am new Android user and very happy with HTC Desire. However, frustrated that common Office apps not able to edit e-mailed docs, or send edited docs. Have looked at Quick Office; Documents To Go; & Office Suite Pro. Anybody know of a suitable app - this seems like a significant limitation to me. Adam

I have issued the ClientLogin request and get an authorization token.I can tell the authorization key is working because if I do not pass that header, I get a 403 instead. Any reason why I would be getting a page not found? I am lost and not sure what else to try.I am not using the java client libraries since I am running on Android and want to keep it lightweight.

Feb 25, 2010Im using a Hero and was disappointed that I cant zoom in when viewing my presentation in Google Docs mobile using the default browser. When I pinch zoom or double tap, the control buttons on the slide enlarge but the slide stays the same size also, I found out that if I turned off javascript in the browser settings, I can zoom in the slide as usual but then the control buttons stop working.

So far I have an application that authenticates with the services and displays a list of user documents. When the user selects a document another query is made for the documents itself. A request for txt, html, rtf and doc files works well, however when I request a spreadsheet in either .csv or .xsl format the result is unexpected.

Sep 8, 2010Ok, so this is more of an Android thing than Inc, but the two things that I think are still sorely lacking are support for Google Docs, and some form of Google virtual drive (like DropBox). On the Docs front, I realize there's GDocs, but since Google Docs is a Google initiative, it'd be nice to have an official app. And on the storage front, it'd be great to have access to the same storage that I have with picasa, Gmail, and google docs, as a desktop accessible drive, with an android component.Anyone know of any solutions other than GDocs and DropBox to achieve these.

Great news - it now will sync with Google Documents!GooMemo - Android Notes application.The developer had originally planned that this would be part of a paid-for premium version, but very kindly he has released it for free.For those of us Palm refugees who miss having memos synced between handheld and desktop I think this is the only application that does it properly. I haven't played with it very much yet, but it seems to work very well. In Google Documents all your memos are put into a spreadsheet with a different sheet for each category and each memo on its own row. This is maybe not the prettiest of options, but it makes it all very transparent, and easy to export your notes in CSV form if you want to move them elsewhere. The only slight irritation I've had is that it won't remember my Gmail password and I have to rekey it each time I want to sync.

Sep 9, 2010My documents show up in the goggle docs app, however when I click it to open the document is blank. This is the case for every document I have. I just checked on my home computer and it's still there, however why doesn't it appear on my phone? I even went to the Google doc website on my phone and every document was blank. I tried restoring w/ titanium and didn't have any luck with that. I tried opening the application and clearing data, however after reassigning my accounts I still had blank documents. Aug 22, 2010I'm trying to get a simple vibration working and according to the api docs(http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/Vibrator.html) all I need to use is this: public void vibrate (long milliseconds)
Turn the vibrator on. Parameters milliseconds How long to vibrate for.
However the behavior I am seeing is not what is described. Instead of a number of milliseconds, it seems this parameter translates into an "intensity"?
I tried: vibrator.vibrate(200);
And I got a sustained vibration which didn't stop until I exited my app. Initially I thought perhaps the api docs were wrong and the parameter was seconds, not milliseconds, so I tried: vibrator.vibrate(2);
This time I got the same behavior, i.e. continuous vibration, but the vibration was very gentle.. almost in-perceptible. This leads me to conclude that the parameter translates into an intensity, not a time.
Is it possible that this is a "feature" of the particular device? In my case HTC Desire.
I'm running 2.1 as my crappy telco hasn't distributed an update to 2.2, but it worries me that this behavior may differ from device to device.

Jan 27, 2013I'm looking for an app or widget or shortcut or something that will force the phone to lock. Right now the phone locks after 10 minutes. However, if a situation arises where I need to lock the phone immediately there's no option to do that. There is an option under Settings to trigger on power button push. I'm not a huge fan of that since I use the power button to switch off the phone when I don't need it (to save battery). If nothing exists I might try the power button option.
I have a Verizon Motorola Droid Bionic with Android version 4.0.4.
