Installed Handcent and was wondering if there is a way to disable the native messages application as double messages is starting to become annoying

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo out of the blue today my hand cent starts getting 2 messages each time i get a text message. Even displays both of them in the bubbles. I've made sure hand cent is the default and of course I've disabled the stock message apps. But after I installed the new froyo update I have 2 txt msg stock apps. Messaging and Text Message. Anyone know what .apk to remove to get remove them and where those apks are... and the big thing... how to get the dang double messages to stop. It stinks because it makes me always have an icon on the notification bar saying I've got unanswered messages.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI apologize for the topic, I understand this is a common question because I did search around before posting this.I know that I need to go into the stock messaging program and disable notifications for that program. However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?

Alright call me cheap, but I only have the $5 250 messages on my plan but it suits me just fine I never go over.Well i just got my bill and wouldnt you know I went over by almost double. Turns out more often then I thought I was sending blank texts and double texts. People weren't saying anything to me because they thought that it was just user error but when it kept happening people finally started saying something to me.Its not worth trying to argue with verizon over it, its like $14, so I will just up my plan a bit, but just watch it.For some of you its moot because you have unlimited, but for those that dont just thought I would share.

But no matter what I do, I can't get rid of the typing lag in the native SenseUI "Messages" app.Has ANYONE found a way to type fast and furiously without any lag in the Messages app? View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC One where I am using the Gmail app for my private gmail account and the native HTC mail app for my work mail.
The work mail is set up with iMap, but the problem is that it isn't syncing sent messages with other devices. If I send an email from my HTC, it will only appear in the sent folder on the phone, but not in the sent folder in Outlook in my laptop. I had the same problem in Outlook, but in Outlook it was possible to define which folder sent messages should be saved in, thus making them available on all devices.
how I can do the same with HTC's mail app, so messages sent from the phone also will appear on other devices?
Hey..not a real problem, but since my 2.1 upgrade when I receive a text message my notification rings twice for one message. Anyone else get this? It's just weird behavior...nothing I can't live with.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Sprint and an integrated google voice number. I also have a tablet I use to send/receive GVoice messages. Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
Is there anyway you can disable the settings for the text message popping up on home screen.

I really prefer a separate in box and s separate box for my send messages. Most of the messages I send and receive are not conversations, so for me it isn't a good option for me. I already tried it with hand cent, but this also didn't have that option.

Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

View 30 Replies View RelatedI tried the steps above, and it didn't work. I then compared it to the steps on the other link, and there it says to do mtdblock4, not mtdblock3
So I typed mtdblock4 instead, and I rebooted from the adb shell in the computer.
The boot animation went fine, and then when I got to my homescreen, I freaked out!
It is all black. Instead of the unlock button, there is a green button with an airplane symbol on it. It says NO SERVICE.
The bar IS transparent, but it has these weird symbols on it, not the normal ones.
AND, to make it worse, EVERYTHING is force closing. I'm getting messages after messages of force closing. NOTHING works.
I can't even pull down the notification bar to get mount my sdcard in order to delete the .apk file from there. All these stupid force close messages keep propping up.
Also, it says that the date is Wednesday, December 31 (the 31 is a thursday, though), and it has a time of 6 hours from now.
NOW,
I am actually still in debugging mode, and I still have access to adb shell.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
(Why oh why did I have to root my beautiful Droid! I think I killed it!)
Does anyone notice when they have alot of messages - when you make new text messages or just try to browse through old ones it lags alot?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAll of my SMS messages have disappeared, I have had my HTC Desire since the end of May and suddenly today all my SMS messages are gone without warning. I had auto backup to SD card enabled, but this option seems to have disappeared on 2.2, even if I could retrieve the old messages that were backed up to the SD card beforehand that would be great, there's nothing left! Delete old messages is turned off and I have tried turning the phone off and back on again but it hasn't helped.

This app is the only app that I have found that deletes your messages without crashing the phone. You tell it to delete old messages (2 months, 1 month, 2 weeks etc) and it begins deleting. It starts with the oldest so you don't have to worry about losing recent texts. Also it shows you the progress. Over about 3 nights of leaving it on (you can cancel whenever and continue later) I deleted over 7000 texts!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have around 3000 messages from one person, currently they are all in one conversation, because of the number it takes a few moments to load the page. I know I can set the phone up to delete the old messages, but I don't really like deleting messages, or email, I just don't like doing it. I'm looking for an app (or if the existing message app has a solution) that will allow me to have a smaller conversation or a way to load just the last few messages unless I ask to see older messages similar the the iphone. Does anyone know if this kind of thing exists?

Sometimes when i try to send a txt message my phone forces a close and when it re-opens the txt messages, all my messages have been lost, very annoying it is. It is strange because it doesn't always happened and I cannot think of any applications which were running while would effect it.
