HTC Desire :: Way Of Removing The Previously Installed Apps
Sep 2, 2010I've been meaning to ask this for a while but haven't got around to it.When you uninstall an app from your phone, via the market, that is the app entirely removed from your phone, isn't it?Is there any way of removing the previously installed apps from your downloads list on your market? Or are they there for your reference?

Sep 23, 2010I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.

Nov 24, 2010Im pretty new to the android forum so please bare with me. I've got the DHD and I love it. But the only issue I have is these pre-installed apps such as; facebook, twitter and peep.
First of all why do i need twitter AND peep? I want to get rid of the latter and i've heard that I need to root my phone to do that. Can someone point me to a newbs step by step to rooting the DHD if such a thing exists please?
Secondly, the pre-installed apps don't have the option of updating! So as far as I can see I have to actually download these apps again from the market and then update them when they come.

Or do they get updated automatically? I read that a new version of Google Maps is out, but I don't know how to update. My version does not display driving directions.

I enjoyed the trial and tried to upgrade, and it just gave me a network error. So I went to the google play app store, and bought the full version there. Aug 27, 2010Installed the leaked update minus the bloatware, and was trying to remove more, but there are a couple that don't seem to work such as PDF viewer, and News and Weather Reader.
I'm using these commands:
mv /system/app/PDFViewer.apk /system/app.disabled/
mv /system/app/NewsReader.apk /system/app.disabled/
mv /system/app/com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk /system/app.disabled/
Anyone been able to remove these two apps?

May 3, 2010Does it bother anybody else that you can't delete the pre-loaded apps? I don't tweet, will never tweet lol. But damned if I can remove the tweet apps from my list of apps to keep down on clutter. There are several others that can go by the wayside as well, if I could figure out how.

Feb 15, 2014My Wishlist that I am not able to get rid of. With most apps, I simply click on the menu part and I am able to Install or add to wish list, or to remove from wish list. But these two apps (Buzzfeed and Mokriya Craigslist) will not remove. I had them on my wishlist, installed them directly from My Wishlist, and then got tired of them. I uninstalled them, but now the only option for me is to Install them; I cannot remove them from my wishlist.
I tried to see if I could do it on my computer on the GP store, but i cannot. There is simply no box to the right of Install like there is in other apps.

May 3, 2012I've been running CM nightlies as long as they've been available for my device (Samsung Captivate). After each flash though, I have to go in through Titanium Backup and uninstall a number of system apps (mail, exchange services, music, DSP manager, news & weather, dev tools) that I do not use for various reasons. I know the ROM runs fine without these elements, as I've been removing them for years now. Manually removing them wasn't such an issue until my phone received a TWRP recovery, which effectively gets me much closer to a "one-click" nightly update making the manual cleanup more of a burden to my lazy lifestyle.
I'd like to create a CWM flashable zip that contains only an update script that removes the system apk's that I specify. Using TWRP I'd like to be able to flash the update, the kernel, and my custom "cleanup" zip in that order. I know the path to all the subject apks, but I know little about scripting or creating CWM zips. my way around a bash script, but I'm not even sure if that's relevant.
