HTC Desire :: Random Calls By Unknown Number

Aug 25, 2010

I have my HTC desire a couple of weeks now and I have some weird problem. At random times I get a call by an 'Unknown' number. When I answer the call there's no one there and the other side hangs up.The problem started when I got my new phone so I don't think it's my provider. Also it can't be a prank caller. If it was I should've at least heard something on the other end of the line.Does anyone know what causes this problem? A bug perhaps?

HTC Desire :: Random calls by unknown number

Android :: All Calls From Unknown Number?

Aug 3, 2009

In the past week or so when anyone calls my phone, the number comes up as "unknown". If the person is on my contacts list, their name comes up as unknown & if it's a regular number like my work or Dr office it also comes up as unknown. Even if I make a call, my call log shows the number I contact as unknown, even if I check my voicemail. It's driving me crazy since I always screen my calls. I an on a G1 phone and my carrier is T-Moible.

HTC Desire :: Local Calls Appearing As Unknown Contact

Apr 25, 2010

Just received my Desire yesterday and I cant keep my hands off it. Anyways this is my problem...

Since I travel and change my SIM quite often, the nos. of my contacts have been saved with the country codes so that I dont have to keep adding digits when I have to make calls. So because of this when I receive Local Calls ie calls without country codes it says unknown contact even though this contact is saved in the phone.

Example: 00974 123456 is saved in my fone....00974 is the country code and phone no. is 123456. When i receive a local call from this no. it shows 123456, and hence the Desire is not recognizing the contact.

All contacts are saved in phone memory.

HTC Incredible :: Unknown Random Strange Update Fubared My Phone

Sep 19, 2010

My phone died on me Saturday night so I took it home and put it on the charger. When it came back on, it told me my software had been successfully updated to some kind of version 3.2.something. I didn't pay attention to what it said had been updated, I just thought "cool" and hit OK. Well once I hit ok, things start force closing. I reset the phone and Color Notes stops unexpectedly immediately. Lots of my widgets say "Problem loading gadget". At least 3 out of 5 on each home screen. Lots of my apps will not open. They open then immediately close. Lookout will not initialize. Pandora closes immediately. Also, I lost most all of my contacts. My Google contacts are still there, but all the Phone contacts are gone. My call log is gone. Internet history. Some settings are gone like default program settings and sound settings. My wallpaper, emails from my Gmail account as well as settings, unlock password, calendar entries, and some other things are still there on the phone. I have NO IDEA what the hell happened, but I would really like to try to get this fixed without hard resetting my phone.

HTC Droid Eris :: Call History - Unknown Number

Oct 14, 2010

Moving on, my problem has to do with "Call-History". What I've noticed is that while I can see the phone-numbers of people in my contacts list people whose number I do not have show up as, bear with me, "Unknown". When I navigate to "Call History", (Say a friend whose number I don't have calls me). I can't add their number to my contact list. This is an increasingly frustrating problem for me. I'll navigate to the "Call History" screen and find that there's no way for me to identify what numerical-phone number called me. There will simply be the designation; "Unknown", while holding down on the entry (while the time/length of the call can be viewed). There is no way to add nor even view, the again, [Unknown] number to my contact list. Phones are ultimately communication devices, if I can't find a solution, well, I'm convinced that I'm going to have to down-grade from a smart-phone to something capable of recording and adding unknown numbers.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Unknown Appear In Call History Instead Of Contact Number

Apr 10, 2010

I've been dealing with this for quite a while - I'm finally just getting fed up with it to the point where I'm actually doing something about it. I use GV exclusively probably half of the entries in my phone history appear as "unknown". Its also hit-or-miss if the contact's name appears when i dial out or when they're ringing in. Also, when me and another contact call each other back and forth several times, sometimes their info appears, sometimes they appear as "(unknown)" -- its baffling me.

HTC Incredible :: Changing Number - But Have Calls To Old Number Sent To New #

Jun 2, 2010

I'm selling my house, and my old phone number (which is still active), is on the advertisment signs and MLS. So, I'm going to keep paying my bill month to month for that account until I sell the house.

However, I'd rather not carry around 2 different phones. I did not port my number to my new service as my old number was not "local" to where I live now.

So, I have service with T-mobile and now Verizon with two different numbers. Can I set-up something where anyone who calls my T-mobile number, will ring through to my my Verizon phone/number?

HTC Droid Eris :: Block Unknown Callers Incoming Calls?

May 28, 2010

Has anyone found any good call blockers to prevent unknown callers from junking up your voicemail? I've heard about GBlock and aFirewall but they're not complete solutions. looking for something that shuts down an unwanted caller with NO voicemail option. Even better - an app where you put in the numbers you wish to accept and have anyone else who calls in get rejected instead of having to enter numbers you want to have blocked.

HTC Incredible :: Number Of Random Reboots

Jul 14, 2010

I'm having a very frustrating problem with my phone. I've been noticing a large number of random reboots lately. It primarily happens while I'm listing to music through my bluetooth headphones or my car stereo (connected via bluetooth). When the phone restarts it can't start the bluetooth and I get a force close of a system process. I have to pull the battery and cold boot it to get bluetooth back. Bad hardware?

Android :: Hello World Button Display Random Number

Apr 16, 2010

Brand new to droid programming, but would love to learn as much as possible, so I finally got my emulator working correctly, I even got a hello world button to work. I'm attempting to make this button display a random number, I've googled this and came up with this code:

Random generator = new Random();
int n = generator.nextInt(n);

I fixed the Random function by including some Random java utility. I'm assuming this code above goes in the .java file of the project, so my button code looks as follows (tested and works):

PopUpText.makeText(v.getContext(), "Hello World",
PopUpText.LENGTH_LONG).show();

I figured I could replace "Hello World" with n to display the number in the box, however the following error is stopping the compile:
The local variable n may not have been initialized

General :: Block Spam Text From Random Number?

Apr 6, 2012

I somehow (knowingly or unknowingly) touched & dialled a number from an adult content app and then hung up. Since that day, I keep getting text msgs from different numbers, with lewd text & asking me to call a number (constant across all these sms-es). I block the number using MyVerizon number blocking service; but in 2-3 days I get similar text, asking me to call the same number, from a different number. I keep on blocking this new number (from where the text came) and they keep on sending same text from a different number. This keep on increasing my text bill.

If I reply to one of those texts saying "STOP", as the verizon customer care rep suggested, wouldn't that flag my number as LIVE and they'll start sending me more texts? How about using sms blocker apps? Again, question there is - do the sms blocker apps just delete spam msgs upon receiving and will I still incur the sms cost in my bill?

Motorola Droid :: Make Calls - Random Pictures Of Android Come Up / Can't Dial *228

Every time I a call is dialing or is hung up, random pictures of the android character pop up, like him playing baseball, eating a hot dog, sitting at a desk, playing guitar in the park... etc. Does anyone know what caused this to start? what program maybe? and a way to turn it off? I think it started right after I rooted my droid, it kind of acts like a screen saver type thing. I've waited a while to see if anything has popped up on the forums, and nothing has, it's annoying lol. oh and My phone will not dial *228, just goes back to home screen

HTC Hero : Text Conversation Random Message Stops - Wont Deliver - Dropped Calls

Oct 15, 2009

I love the Hero - dont get me wrong - I am running the latest orange rom but I have a few issues- hopefully some one can help me solve...

1 - Dropped calls - no matter who or where I am calls drop about 25% of the time. I can be sitting at home doing nothing but talking then drop.. it happens alot.. starting to annoy me..

2 - Failed to send texts - I am having a text conversation then a random message stops and wont deliver - retry - retry again - wait a minute or 2 and retry - it works.... this is getting very anoying.. again about 25% of the time.

3 - Internet connection - (3g) - after about 4 or 5 clicks it will lock up and display page not found... wait about a minute - retry and again it works... this is about 40% of the time

4 - my friend sends me a text message/ missed call with a new number. I cant add it to an existing contact - it only allows you to add a new contact. plus copy and paste doesnt work at these points. - i end up having to write the number down and then edit the contact.

5- T9 - when I add a word to the library - it doesnt remember the word in my text - I have to type it in again and then it predicts it (minor but annoying). this phone is awsome as a gadget - but pretty crap as a phone. any one got any advice on how to help ?

HTC Droid Eris :: Random - Touch-Tone - Sounds In Ear During Calls - Google Voice Issue Or Phone

Sep 1, 2010

I've done a bunch of searching on google and elsewhere on this in the past but have not seem to have found anything on the topic, but it came back on my mind today after making a call.

Almost [anytime?] I am speaking on the phone [with anyone?] I will intermittently get a "touch tone" sound blasted in my ear randomly. At first I thought it may have been because my ear/face was hitting a button on the screen, but this happens even when the keypad is hidden. The other odd thing is that it only seems to happen on MY end, the caller on the other end will *NEVER* hear it when I have asked.

I *do* use google voice for all my calls. I do not know if this happens outside of GV or if it has anything to do with it. Any ideas why this could be, or has anyone run into this issue?

Today it was in my mind because it was happening a LOT (every minute or so) when I was talking to one of my friends. I never took note about it happening more often with her vs. other people or not [honestly, I don't use TALK so much on my phone] but we had a longer conversation today and it kept happening randomly.

It's definitely coming through the headset and not out of the speaker (ie: it will drown out the voice on the other end), and I did disable all touch-tone sounds on the phone. It is the sound you would receive through a regular phone system through the headset, not a chinsy "beep" or something the phone itself would make, it's coming across the "line" but again only I am hearing it.

HTC Incredible :: Incoming Calls Don't Show Number

Oct 22, 2010

I recently switched from T-mobile to Verizon, and just picked up my nice shiny new HTC Incredible phone. It works great, with one exception.Whenever I get an incoming call, the phone just shows that I have an incoming call but doesn't show the caller's phone number, or the name if they are one of my contacst. It doesn't matter if the call is coming from a land line, a Verizon mobile phone, or whether or not they are on of my contacts, each time all it shows is incoming call, and nothing esle.I probably have some setting screwed up, but so far I can't find it.

I tried to search a little if such apps were existing i found an app called "Wakeup call alarm" which is not existing any more.one application of such an app is to call my landline number in the morning so that i get up from bed at least pretty lazy to wake up from bed in mornings.

Motorola Droid :: Calls Last Number Called By Itself When Locked

Jul 25, 2010

I've been having this problem ever since I got my Motorola Droid basically (November 2009). Sometimes my droid will dial the last number that was called by itself while it is locked.

Whenever I am done making a call or using my phone I hit the screen dim button at the top. Also I have the pattern lock code turned on. I also have a blue tooth headset that is always attached to my phone, its this Plantronics Discovery 925:

Amazon.com: Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset (Bulk): Electronics
Amazon.com: Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset (Bulk): Electronics

Basically my droid will just call the last number that I have called on it's own. This happens when I have it in my pocket, and when I have it just sitting on a table with nothing touching the phone or my headset. Sometimes like when my friend is right next to me, he will say hey your calling me, and ill take my phone out of my pocket, hit the screen dim button, and I will see that it is still locked with the pattern lock, but that a call is underway (phone call icon is present in the top left)

I was wondering it somehow my bluetooth making these calls, but as far as I know there is no way to actually make a call directly from the bluetooth, and at any rate the phone is locked.

I recently read another post saying that this may be caused by the phone automatically going to the call log after ending a call, so I downloaded this App that was recommended called "Not Call Log" and I have set it to make the phone go to the home screen instead of the call log when calls end.

However just yesterday I have just seen it call by itself twice even after I installed this new app, so it seems the app is not solve the problem. I have seen many threads on this topic but none with any solutions except to use the Not Call Log app, which at least right now doesn't seem to be fixing the issue.

I did some Googling and there seems to be a setting that can change how much the screen lock blocks. I think I checked everywhere in the phone but don't see this option. It's a ZTE AWE phone with jelly bean.

There's aparently simple ways to bypass screen lock if a phone's lost, but I still want it fully locked.
