Does all apps etc get saved by default to the phone memory or the SD card?? Also, when I plug in via the USB cable and want to transfer some videos and photos across from my old phone, are they saved to the SD card? Is there any way of checking what is saved to where?
I finally got my fone fixed and i deleted diner dash2 and telenav and amazonmp3 immediatly after i rooted the behold 2 , but now i would like to know how to run apps from my sd card ? i figured out how to get them there but. Now what? i cant install terminal emulator either. i want to do it this way so i do not use up the space on the fone. For some reason i think it will start going slow again if i dont. any advice on what your setups are? what have you safely removed? is it ok to remove MyFavs? how about the cube? is there anything todo to speed it up a lil? or make it so it doesnt slow down at all?
I am getting a Desire next week. How many apps you can install on the internal memory without 'rooting' it? I'll probably install a lot of apps when I get mine next wednesday (I already have made a list of over 30!) and I would really like to avoid rooting it as it will probably void the warranty and I am not sure I could do it anyway - even after reading the step by step guide a few times over. How many apps have you all managed to fit in before getting the memory low message that some have reported?
I have just used the instructions on this forum to first root my phone, and then install New 2.2 on to my desire. What a improvement in performance and Shockwave flash works. But I can't install on to my SD Card at all. If I download a app from the market (or my pc) which is set to install on extrenal storage (SD Card), it downloads and the installation fails. I also can't use APP 2 SD as when I try and copy to memory it fails. so if I then unmount my SD Card, and install the same app, it installs and works fine. So do I need to do something to my SD Card?
At the moment I have downloaded 56 applications but only have 10 on SD card I have tried but still can't get anymore to move over to SD card I have only 27mb left is their another way of moving apps to SD via computer and free up some extra space I've cleared up web browser etc.
I have just rooted my desire and its fine, i did a back up too so ive not lost anything and its working fine, but im trying to still figure out how to make a default setting of some kind so my apps save to my SD card rather than internal memory. also im trying to become more aware of the benefits of rooting now ive done it besides the increase in phone performance etc and things like that.
i was wondering what apps are safe to move and which ones just wont move. I know system apps and those that use widgets are a no no. But what about Google maps, facebook, gmail, astro and Adobe flash player (12.4) mb? Maybe we could have a list of what not to move here?
I have some 80MB left on the phones memory, I have downloaded a lot of apps, tried them and deleted most of them (but far from all). There are still a lot of apps I would like to DL and try out, but before doing that I would like to move as much as possible to the SD card, it says I have 3.67 GB available, so plenty of room. However When I go to Applications--> Manage Applications the ption to move them to the SD card is grayed out and the option is not available to me. What do I need to do to turn it on?
I only heard about this today from a telus rep. I thought apps were saved to internal when that was full it moved to sd automatically. No it only goes to internal memory DANG! so that means i can only have a few downloaded at a time. Whats the solution? Will 2.2 fix it? I heard 3.0 will?
I have update my "orange desire" to 2.2 but for some reason I cannot move many apps to sd (only a few will move), can anybody help is my handset faulty or is this normal it is not rooted, is there a way of getting all apps to sd?
This requires Froyo 2.2 It doesn't void your warranty It doesn't delete existing apps It's perfectly safe It doesn't require rooting.
I realise there are a few threads about this, but I thought I would make a new one for my easier guide, and hopefully people will find it more easily as they won't have to scroll through pages of other threads to find an answer. I am now successfully running most apps from my SD Card now. I just thought I would make an easier guide as the others are fairly complex for noobs like me............
Just followed instructions on how to move apps to sd card on an unrooted device....all worked well, moved what i wanted to, but would now like to put phone back to default settings to install apps to phone memory. I tried to open run command on my pc with phone connected and typed pm setInstallLocation 0.....but all that comes up is command is not recognized.
So I've downloaded the Tajm and Battstatt which are widgets and for some reason they're downloading directly to my sdcard. So while I have them on my homescreen and I reboot my phone they will not show up anymore. So I decide to move them to my phone memory and when I do they no longer show up on the widgets list anymore.
ever since i rooted my phone, ive been having problems with my evo memory card. i formated it and everything tried different roms but same thing happens whenever i take a picture, listen to music, or anything involving the memory card. all apps crash except for the camera which says cannot save files to the SD card due to insufficient file permissions.
So I've tried and tried again using RA and other linux based programs (GParted) to get my 8GB card to partition for apps2sd. Everything always runs smoothly and shows that the card is partitioned correctly. But then upon reboot the SD card shows full fat32 memory (6.9 GB). No matter what I do, after reboot, the partitions never happen. When I used GParted, and then loaded the SD card on the phone it always says that the SD card is damaged and I need to reformat. I've done that and rerun everything to no avail. Someone please tell me this issue is that the SD card is corrupted and I should give up. Because I've followed everything to a T as far as partitioning. With that I'll say that I had no problems rooting my phone, flashing ROM's/RA's, etc, and have been able to do whatever I want as far as new things to load. I've finally decided after all this time to do apps2sd, and I literally screwed around for 5+ hrs today, trying to partition the SD card properly. Any thoughts?
I have a Droid X running 2.2. I'm trying to understand the advantages of storing apps on the SD Card vs Phone storage. Since the Droid X comes with 8GB of phone storage, I've got lots of room there. What would be some reasoning behind moving apps to the SD card? I see lots of people get excited when a favorite app adds SD card support, but why exactly? Maybe it's more of an advantage for phones with less phone storage? Also, how come in manage applications, it says that the app takes up way less space when it's on the SD Card? For example, I just installed Angry Birds and it put itself on the SD Card when it installed. It showed 1.83MB in size. When I moved it to the SD Card, it showed 14.06MB.
My problem is that when I install any app from google play, it installs on internal storage. If I want to move it to sd card, the only option available is move to phone storage. I have selected SD Card as default write disk.
I have a rooted Sprint Hero and I'd like to save and run apps off of my 16gb class 6 SD card while running the factory ROM. Is this possible? If so how can I do so. If not, I'm willing to flash to a different ROM, what's a good stable one?
I did a few searches and couldn't find anything, so I decided to be lazy and start a new post on this. Has anyone found an application that will move all applications to the SD card to save phone space and speed everything else up?
I want to root phone but when I go through the new user area and follow directions my boot h is 0.98. Can not find out how to root this one. Sorry if I have overlooked it in threads. Can someone point me in right direction?
I am looking at buying a HTC Desire, but would like to try rooting it and loading custom firmware. I am sure I read somewhere that it is not possible to Root a phone that has already been updated with the standard 2.2 OTA update.
