Feb 18, 2010i have a android application which is ready to release .so to release i have put the app in android market .the user can buy the app and can install the app into the phone.android market wont provide any apk file to the user .so normally we need not bother about re distribution of of the app to the unauthorized persons(who didn't buy the app). But what my problem is ,I heard that there is a jail breaking concept which can allow the hacker to get the apk file(installation file) from the device .(even though android market not giving the apk file to the user ).then he can distribute the apk file to all(to unauthorized persons ).how to avoid it.is there any thing to restrict the unauthorized person in using our app,even though he get the apk file . does android market provides the details of the users who has buy the app by paying?

Then I installed Chevy's kernal and now it doesn't have root access. Looks like a couple other people are having the same issue on AllDroid. I'm using BB .7 with Chevy's 1ghz kernal.

When I specify a layout including a textview that holds a sizable amount of text wrap_content seems to arbitrarily break in the middle of a word - and I can not find any documentation indicating this can be controlled.

My continuous integration server runs an Ant script, which calls something like:

My JUnit tests run, but with errors:

The errors are OK, but my build script keeps going (eventually publishing my broken app to my testers - bad!). What I would expect is for the instrimentaiton to throw a build error, so my continuous integration server (TeamCity in this case) realises that something has gone wrong and reports a broken build. The "failonerror" is already set in the relevant macrodef, so I'm not sure what else I can do?
Android :: Line-breaking Widget Layout For Android
Feb 14, 2009I'm trying to create an activity that presents some data to the user. The data is such that it can be divided into 'words', each being a widget, and sequence of 'words' would form the data ('sentence'?), the ViewGroup widget containing the words. As space required for all 'words' in a 'sentence' would exceed the available horizontal space on the display, I would like to wrap these 'sentences' as you would a normal piece of text.

yields something like the left picture, but I would want a layout presenting the same widgets like in the right one.
Is there such a layout or combination of layouts and parameters, or do I have to implement my own ViewGroup for this?
Android :: Using Android SAXParser - One My XML Elements Is Breaking In Half
Mar 30, 2010Im using the SAXParser object do parse the actual XML.
This is normally done by passing a URL to the XMLReader.Parse method. Because my XML is coming from a POST request to a webservice, I am saving that result as a String and then employing StringReader / InputSource to feed this string back to the XMLReader.Parse method.
However, something strange is happening at the 2001st character of the XMLstring. The 'characters' method of the document handler is being called TWICE in between the startElement and endElement methods, effectively breaking my string (in this case a project title) into two pieces. Because I am instantiating objects in my characters method, I am getting two objects instead of one.
This line, about 2000 chars into the string fires 'characters' two times, breaking between "Lower" and "Level"

When I bypass the StringReader / InputSource workaround and feed a flat XML file to XMLReader.Parse, it works absolutely fine.
Something about StringReader and or InputSource is somehow screwing this up.

Or, show me how to use a POST request and still pass off the URL to the Parse function.
Samsung Vibrant : Vibrant - Voice Call Breaking Up / Way To Fix
Sep 17, 2010Anyone has experienced this problem on the Vibrant? The call keeps breaking up and I have this issue both calling and receiving. Not using the earphones but when I am holding and talking,, the call seems to break up and I've had people complain on the other side as well.
Not sure why this is happening. I had a Ultra Silke case put on it. Is that blocking anything? Or is this an inherent problem others have experienced?
Android :: Breaking Upgrades In Android
Jul 30, 2010It will save a lot of coding if I am able to make a breaking change to my Android application. Instead, they will have to download a clean install and visit a URL to reinitialise the application data.
According to the documentation, "if the package name and signing certificate do not match those of the existing version, Market will consider it a new application and will not offer it to users as an update." This would allow me to publish a new version of the application without the user being able to accidentally upgrade and break the application.
If I do upload a new version of my application with a different signing certificate, will the application appear in the application store twice? If so, is there any way to prevent users from downloading the old application?
HTC Desire :: Using Telus HTC Desire On Rogers Network - No SIM Card In Phone - Error
Oct 8, 2010I just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.

Jul 18, 2010My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.

Nov 18, 2010I have had my desire a few weeks now. I have a problem with it.Every time i make a phone call or accept a phone call the phone will switch to speaker phone. This happens before i put the phone up to my ear so it is not my face that is turning on speaker phone. If i hold the phone in my hand and dial a number and press call, it goes to speaker phone. If the phone rings and i answer it, it will always go straight to speak phone.

Apr 25, 2010I just noticed my quota on 3G Watdog shoot up to something unfeasibly high all of a sudden. I thought it was an error so checked my Orange account. It was correct. Then looked and noticed my wifi and 3G icons were on together. My wifi had a signal but the arrows were lighted on the 3G. I toggled my wifi and nothing changed.I rebooted and just the wifi icon appeared. Used some data and 3G watchdog quota held steady.

Aug 29, 2010Got my desire today got it from CPW on 3 so it is unbranded. Not had chance to get it out yet having 18 month twins does that, it robs a man of free time. Anyway, I have no idea what I will be facing once I switch on for the first time, but do you reckon the 2.2 update should be first on the list? Or get to grips with 2.1 first. Also, I expected that a SD card would be included with the phone? Not looked at anything yet i.e. instructions but from a quick look, there isn't one there. Not a major issue, SDs are cheap enough on play if it is just the standard type.

Jun 23, 2010I have an HTC desire with Orange in the UK and up til now it's been pretty fantastic. For the last couple of weeks though, it goes through fazes daily of just switching off mid-use and restarting 5 or 6 times in a row. Sometimes it boots up fully before restarting, sometimes it cuts out mid start-up and goes again....it's rather annoying as I'm sure you can imagine!

The battery in the phone was about half charged. May 30, 2010I got my phone yesterday and been playing with it since. Good bits-going on the net is quick, clear and very smooth. Customizing is very good. Bad bits-would have thought it would come with a video player that could play any type of format. I can't put apps onto mem card, thought the hole point of being able to put a large size mem card into the phone was so you could put all the extras onto the card. This is the main let down for me, got some apps on the phone last night then the phone said it had run out memory. I've seen that rooting can change this but don't fancy voiding my warranty. Wonder if a future update would cover this.

Nov 22, 2010I noticed last night that my Desire HD wasn't charing, I had it plug'ed into the socket, then tried charging it via my laptop and then X box 360, the orange light stayed on until I went to sleep, but when I woke up, the battery was still orange, around 25% full. I don't know if its relevant, but I had upgraded the firmware around the day before, anything to do with it? Jul 30, 2010today my desire for the first time turned off by itself.it happened while the mobile internet was turned on and i was trying to load a youtube video. the phone just turned off. i turned it back on, and it turned off again.i managed to turn off the mobile internet, and the problem stopped. i tried watching the same youtube vid via wireless and the problem never happened.i then tried using google navigator with the mobile internet on and phone turned off once again. thing is i have had the phone for 2-3 months and this has never happened before. this morning my phone updated 3 apps, "quick settings", "advance task killer" and "google maps". could these updates be the source of the problem? o2 said to try the sim in another phone and rule out a network fault. still need to get round to doing that.
