View 1 RepliesRooted with Z4Root. I deleted most of the bloatware but wanted to know how to get rid of the T-Mobile tune at startup and shutdown? Anybody done this?
Also a question. If you UNroot, wil the bloatware still be gone? I assume so but want to make sure.
They all scare out of me when they go off, is there a way of setting a tune thats more calming in the morning

My current Top 10
1 Winamp
An excellent replacement, tried a few after being spoilt rotten by the iPhone's music player. In Winamp, I've finally found a music player to compare to this.
2 Peep
The standard HTC Twitter client looks good and is easy to use.
3 Tune In Radio
Not really used this much but used it loads on the iPhone. A huge directory of stations to listen to.
4 MP3 Music Downloader
Get music tracks for FREE (legally debatable) But what I like is the ability to preview on the go, nice if you think "I wish I could listen to that track right now"
5 Google Maps
Superb free navigation, used it to find a pub I wanted to go to (on foot) Drains the battery if you have it on for too long though
FOUR GREAT GAMES
6 Paper Toss
7 Angry Birds
8 Teeter
9 Bubble
10 Backgrounds - shed loads of free backgrounds to choose for your phone, nice and easy to use, all in catagories for easy navigation
Every time I start my phone it seems that every program in the app catalog starts up. Until I activate the Advanced Task Killer and shut them all down, the thing runs like a hog. I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Is there any way to modify the startup files?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know of a "patch" or indeed an ADB shell command that will enable me to disable the pointless (to me anyway) vibration on startup and shutdown. I am rooted with S-ON running stock Froyo with a "few little" mods applied such as rosie drag n drop and trackpad wake. Please don't suggest I install a full custom ROM as I dont want to do this just to get vibrate off. It seems like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Surely if I can issue a command in ADB shell to disable startup sound (which I have successfully done) then there is a command to disable startup and shutdown vibrate??? Logically that must be the case? There must be somewhere in the startup/shutdown code that tells the phone to vibrate. I would be very, very, very, very grateful if anyone can point me towards a solution other than a full custom ROM install. For now I want to carry on running stock Froyo with my little tweaks. I am looking for a "tweak" such as a zip file or shell command.
Just wanted to ask about a startup tone on the desire. Is there one? I love my phone to talk to me when I'm turning it on, kinda kinky that way. But is there a way to set a startup tone that I'm missing.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn an effort not to be just a lurker here, I thought I'd ask about something I cannot seem to adjust on my new US Cellular Droid Desire. I would like to silence the start up tones that happen during the US Cellular startup screen when powering up the phone. There are situations where I would like to be able to start up my phone silently. Is there a way to just shut off the startup sounds?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had an issue flashing the newest version of the leedroid ROM. To start my phone was running stock un-rooted Android 2.1. This is what I've done
1) Rooted the device using the Unrevoked method. Everything with this went fine. I get the Superuser app and I can get the '#' prompt at a terminal.
2) Then I partitioned my SD card using Rom Manager in preparation for A2SD+
3) Then I booted into clockwork mod recovery and wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache, and wiped dalvik cache
4) Then I tried to flash the leedroid rom from zip on the sd card
After reboot my phone appears to be stuck on the HTC screen and will not move forward. But if I take out the battery I can boot back into recovery mode. So it appears my phone is not broken, but it clearly isn't working. I've tried flashing a number of different ROMs but get the same result each time.
Other than making a Goldcard from an SD / installing a generic rom / rooting, is there a simpler way to remove O2 branded splash screens from startup?
View 1 Replies View Related2 wks with Samsung; I installed clock/weather widget and noticed today temp stayed at 41F and didn't change the whole day even though it was in the mid 70's. I returned from a meeting at 3pm and noticed the little circle turning it suddenly changed at 74F. I don't really mind it but wonder how it works; does it work off the phone or on it's own. Why didn't it change temps after 8 hours of being on? Just curious how widgets work and if they dance to their own tune?
View 7 Replies View Relatedmade a lot of different customization to my current smartphone. i'm having an xperia arc (the old model) which does not have that much RAM nor CPU.after booting it, it runs fairly well. but some hours after that, its getting really slow. sometimes i have to wait 10 seconds until my UCCW clock shows up on my main desk.
i'm using the go launcher task manager to kill processes, but that seems not enough.how to tune up my smartphone? is there a great app on the marked i haven't noticed?
I had the phone for a few days and I have downloaded some tunes into the music application on the phone and I see you can save the tune as a ringtone and also trim it which is all good, however, after I have saved the tune as a ringtone, when the phone is switched off and back on again, the chosen ringtone has gone and the "save tune" I had within ringtones has also gone.
I have tried contacting HTC and they are talking about something about route of the SD card and making folders which I have not got a clue about what they are talking about and they don't seem to give clear instructions in how to transfer a song from your PC to the phone and then make it into a ringtone.
I brought a HTC Wildfire. Its battery power usage is very high compared to what given in the specification. I use it in GSM and most of the time it is kept idle. The battery usage status shows the Android system and Standby uses about 30% each. How can i tune up the power usage? Is there any free app available to tune the power usage?.What are the unwanted process running in background and how to find them ?

View 11 Replies View RelatedTried a bit of a buggy ROM and not happy with the outcome. Now, I followed the very helpful guide for one-click rooting to add the new ROM but I wanna switch to the LeeDroid 1.4 release now so what do I need to do? I'm thinking a complete wipe would probably be best so gonna format my backed-up SD card as well and partition it for a2sd+ but can anyone just run me quickly through what I need to do with ClockworkMod etc. to scrub off the old ROM and install the new one pretty please?
View 2 Replies View Relatedalright, I have already rooted my HTC Desire and now i want to switch from an 8-gb sd card to a 16-gb one. I tried whatever way i could think of, but it just won't work. Does anyone know how to go about doing that? One way i think it would work is to unroot my phone and then re-root it with the new sd card, but i just don't know what version of rom to download in order to unroot the phone.I'd rather do it without going through unrooting process, but if that's then only way i could get my new sd card to work, it's ok.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got my HTC Desire and previously had a Nokia E71. I want to use the 16gb sd card from my E71 in my Desire but what do I have to do to keep from losing info, and app info that's already on my Desire sd card? Is there a program that backs it up completely? I've heard that some people have switched just by copying onto PC and then back onto the new card, but have had problems with application data etc. Also, is the 16gb card going to run really slowly? Slowed down my E71 a bit but I'm assuming the Desire could cope much better?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there an app to switch off the phone at automatic times? I.e, turns off at midnight so no calls in the night, but switches on before the alarm goes off? I'm fairly sure the alarm doesn't currently go off if the phones off, some of my previous phones have been forced on by the alarm.

What do I need to do to switch over?Is clockwork recovery on my sd card? I am concerned if I switch to a freshly partitioned card i'll lose the ability to flash.I don't care about personal data lost because I don't have any. This phone is barely a few days old. I don't mind starting fresh as I'm still experimenting with roms and such.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have searched but cannot find an answer to this. I have a friend who has an older android phone, I think it is a vodaphone branded phone, he has the ability to turn on bluetooth and if a connection is not made within a short time bluetooth automatically turns off and it also turns off if it is not connected for a short period. Sounds ideal if you want to connect to a head unit (bluetooth enabled car radio).I have seen such an app for android but it was only for Andriod 1.5 (or 1.6) and not any version newer than that - is there such a thing for 2.1 and 2.2 in the future?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI really like the default browser with the HTC desire. It seems fast and intuitive, and above all I love the way it zooms - formatting text to fit the window, and especially the way it seems to 'snap' to the edges of tables - great for reading news sites where the content is sandwiched in between loads of junk.
But I've never used a different browser on a smartphone, and I wondered how others compared. It's not perfect - swtiching between windows is cumbersome and there doesn't seem to be tabs - which means that sometimes pages can be doing stuff in the background and you'll never even know. And the menus and controls aren't ideal - it's all there but it's annoying having to hit menu then more before you can hit the 'home' key.
So are there any other browsers that have the speed, perfect layout, and intuitive feel of the default browser but better controls and other features? Would appreciate some recommendations of others to try
Is there an app I can use to switch easily between GSM & WCDMA modes? I have quick settings app which will switch on/off but not between?

View 21 Replies View RelatedUp to now i have switched it off for 2 reasons. 1. because once it didn't read my headphone being connected, so it needed a restart.2. it was giving no signal at all, whatsoever. On both of these occasions, the phone took as much as 5 minutes to switch off, why? I always kill the applications with multi task, so it cant be the apps that are running.
