HTC Desire :: HTC Flash Player Not Playing Youtube Videos
Jul 8, 2010
why can't i use the HTC flash player to watch youtube video? when i click on the video link in m.youtube.com and chooses HTC Flash player as player. it just shows the youtube logo then the screen is blank. do you guys experienc the same?
I have just upgraded from an iPhone to the HTC Desire. I was looking forward to being able to play flash videos, after trying to play a few (from entensity.net) I can see the player, but pressing play results in only a yellow exclamation mark... Is there a solution to this or is flash support not quite there yet on android? (Btw according to the settings menu on the phone all software is up to date.)
One feature that's bugging me on the Desire, the default application for Youtube videos seems to be the HTC Flash Player, but I don't want to use this. I would prefer it if it opened with the Youtube player so I can get high quality video when viewing Youtube clips on WIFI - the HTC Flash Player has no settings or option for video quality improvement.
On my G1, every time I opened a link for Youtube (from e.g. the browser or Seesmic), it opened up the Youtube application as the default viewer.
Just tested data receiving on both, a 57 second clip (of King Crimson!) used only 0.6 mb on the YouTube app, the same clip used 2.3mb on the flash, that's nearly 4 times as much. what reason is there for using the flash player at all? not running 2.2, locked to Orange network.
I've had this problem ever since installed then uninstalled avast and the antitheft bit that sometimes youtube won't play videos. The app shows the videos available and I can search but when you click to play all you get is the spinning circle.
It doesn't happen often and a restart of phone always fixed it before but now that's not working.Cleared cache etc but nothings working. What can cause this and how to sort it?
Its a stock rooted gb rom and only happened when avasts hidden app didn't uninstall after getting superuser rights and I had to freeze the hidden app then uninstall it with titanium backup. It did say (avast) something about doing something to nand.
I'm using the moment with offical 2.1 release. I have it rooted with joey v7 and with live wallpapers. I cannot play youtube videos on the sprint network or on wifi. Everytime without fail I get a message saying "cannot play at this time"
Anyone else getting random reboots while playing youtube/flash? at first i thought it was the youtube app but then it happened in the mobile youtube site, then again through another non-youtube embedded flash video played in a website. it just reboots the phone instantly.
there's no way to replicate this as of yet. sometimes i can play a whole video fine but i would say 5-10% of the time it'll reboot randomly. it doesn't happen when playing a video file with Gallery or Rock Player though.
This is with 184.108.40.206. I don't recall having this issue with the prior versions of Fresh. I've done a complete wipe to fix a battery drain issue and the problem has carried over.
Its taking me 15 minutes to watch 5 minute videos...Doesn't matter if im on 3g 4g or wifi...And to add to that sometimes they dont even play. Just loads for minutes...Should i call Tech or is it something im just going to have to deal with?
Seems as if half the video's I try to watch lately will not play in the built in youtube app. And when I attempt to watch it through the browser. It states that I need an upgraded version of Flash player.
i notice when i try to use my phone's "flash player capabilities" that it works like chit. for instance, it won't play videos streamed on justin.tv. and today i tried to go to kings of leon's website so i could listen to their new album from my phone (Kings of Leon | Come Around Sundown) but it failed to work again. i can see all the songs, click on the buttons, even track forward in the songs, but NO SOUND and the songs remain on pause and won't play. is there an update or some kind of APP i can install to where i can actually get some benefit from the flash player.
I jus bot my htc hero yesterday. I can see youtube on the browser but cannot see any videos from yahoo movies and many other flash contents.. I was wondering whether i should install anything (since thr s no flash 10.1 support for htc hero).
I am new to this site not so much to the android world, but there is something that keep annoying me and its when I go to youtube or to watch my anime episodes on my Motorola blur and it tells me a need a adobe reader but when I go into the website it tells me my phone doesn't support the software. Is there an app for this?
I was on my Vibrant looking for highlights for a soccer game on youtube. When I clicked on a user's channel, the actual youtube flash player loaded. Not the phone's youtube player, but the actual in-page youtube player. That is flash, right? My phone is still on 2.1, how can this be possible?
This is the channel: YouTube - Freddyazulful's Channel I haven't been able to recreate it with any other channels, but I can do it with this one every time.
When I transfer HTC Desire videos from phone to computer, I can view the video but with no sound. This also happened with my old Touch HD. The sound works fine on the phone but the problem seems to be with the video. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both Windows 7 and XP. I have noticed the file type is .3gp. Does this need converting or something?
I want to learn how to stream youtube video in high quality mode (similar to those videos you watch from your android phones on the YouTube app) .I have been scouring the net to find code examples and tutorials about streaming youtube videos in high quality but those are not the ones I wanted. The examples that I found are about streaming 3gp video format and I don't want those because they are choppy and seem pixelated. how to develop an app similar to the one as YouTube app? I know some of you may say, "YouTube app is already doing what you want to do, why bother writing something similar". I want to learn how it works :)
Can anyone help? everytime I play a Youtube video on my Desire it plays for a couple of seconds and then Stops with the error message 'Sorry this video cannot be played, there was a problem while playing' I have tried allsorts to try and rectify it without success.
I had found an issue on my HTC Desire. When i try to play some videos on Youtube app, connected through 3G or Wifi, it plays till some point and then a message occures: Sorry this video cannot be played bla bla and stops. No problem on same wifi network but with iPhone 3G.
I'm having problems viewing youtube videos from the installed app. It starts by putting the loading video screen and then after a short while I just get a dialogue box with 'Sorry this video cannot be played. there was a problem while playing' I am connected via 3g and have 4 bars on my signal (no wifi).
Am i the only one who cant watch the music videos on youtube? when i search for them on my htc, they don't come up within the search results, but when i click the link in my htc browser i can watch them. how can i make the youtube application show the videos i search for? and i am logged in to youtube as well
I have had my HTC desire for about a week now and can't access any youtube videos. I can select a video to view and it looks like it's loading but after serveral minutes the error message 'Sorry no network connection right now, please try again later' or 'Sorry, this video cannot be played. this video is not available'
My internet seems to be working although it seems very slow (thought it should be alot faster). Is there something I need to set up to be able to view the videos? I've tried using the youtube widget and also using Dolphin HD but with no luck.
