I'm new to these forums, and if there is already a topic about this i'm sorry but here it goes: My exchange mail synchronizes automattically when i open the mail widget installed on my HTC Desire. I configured my email account so that it only manually syncs, but when i open the widget it already does that. Do you have any opinions or ideas about how to solve this issue?
Is there a way to auto sync my Google Mail with my G1 hourly, but not sync my contacts? (They seem to erase sometimes). I'm on 1.6 OS. I also have ATT email (my home DSL accounts) and I am able to use the Android email program effortlessly there - I can set to auto check 15, 30, hourly etc with no problem. Is there an option to do the same with Gmail? All I can find is to auto sync Contacts, Gmail and calendar. Since one time google ate my calendar and contacts, I'm a little hesitant to ever sync them again.
Sorry if this has Been asked a million times but can I add a yhoo mail account to the android mail app? I have tried various settings in the manual add section but can't add a yahoo mail account. would much prefer not to use the yahoo mail app from the store!
I have a huge library of music in MP3 320kbps. I'm looking to copy selected albums to my phone but during the sync process I'd like them to be re-encoded to a lower bit rate so I can fit more on the phone. I'd like this done during the sync so I don't have to keep a second, lower bitrate copy of everything.WMP12 claims to be able to do this but, not surprisingly for a piece of Microsoft software, it doesn't actually work so I'm looking for something else that can do it. Is there anything else out there? Also, nearly all media managing software constantly just refers to syncing "playlists". I don't ever use playlists as I tend to listen to whole albums in order so I select artist then album, no need for a "playlist". Can I use these things to copy across whole albums without the need to create a playlist of that album and use that to sync?
I've set my Friendstream to update every hour, and this was working fine for weeks. Recently, although it's still refreshing the sync time icon at the bottom every hour, it's not actually updating the widget with the new information. It takes a manual sync for it to refresh. Auto-sync is on, background data is enabled.
If "always on mobile data" is disabled, will this have any affect on programs that are set to auto sync with back ground data enabled(Face book, twitter etc)? I'm trying to work it out but lots of people say different things?
New Incredible user here; got it two days ago and haven't been able to put it down! I'm pleased with basically everything. My main issue right now is using HTC mail. I've synced it with Exchange so I get my gmail as it comes, but when I reply from either the gmail app or my PC, it doesn't appear in my HTC sent mail. I've refreshed and nothing happens. I prefer the HTC layout better than the gmail app and love that I get previews on the widget, but the gmail app works exactly as I need it to. How can I display/sync my sent mail on HTC mail when sending from my PC or gmail app?
I'm trying to limit my mobile data usage with out jumping through hoops.
I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?
I have had the Hero for two day and its really cool. However, I realised today that the e-mail app has stopped pushing e-mailing to me. When I click on the e-mail program it does still update, but just doesn't push.
My environment is: 1 Exchange Account - Push 1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly 1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist: 11:50 - New mail hits my inbox. 12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email. 12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time. 14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened. 15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
Not got the phone yet.. but it looks good.. as an Apple fan i love the Iphone but im not willing to change carrier or pay what they want.. so i think the hero is my best option.. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...
I am having an issue with Yahoo Mail app on my Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 running 4.4.
Initially when I was using the Yahoo Mail App on my 12.2 with contacts synced. I was able to successfully use the autofill in the "To" bar. But for some unknown reason autofill no longer works. I have uninstalled and reinstalled YM app a few times and there is no change. I have alse cleared cache on Contacts with no dice either.
I just got tasker and have been trying to find a way to have auto sync turn on for a few minutes every hour to check mail, and update calendar and contacts so I can help conserve battery life. Is there any way to do this using tasker?
I am new to the whole android scene and just got my G1 and love it so far. Quick question though: I do not have a data plan therefore my emails are not constantly syncing and such. I was wondering if there is an application that would make my wifi turn on at a set time and for a set length of time in order to fetch and sync and then turn off. This would be very useful especially in the morning right before I wake up so that when I first pick up my G1 in the morning the new emails have been synced.
Is anyone noticing a problem with auto sync shutting itself off? Every couple of days, my auto sync feature shuts itself off. When I realize I'm not getting emails, I check and sure enough, it's off again.
Can someone help me to track whats starting my Auto Sync. I get the "Sync Icon" all the time. I have to go into Account and Syncs and select "Cancel Sync" to remove the icon. I dont have auto sync enabled. I would like to know if there is a way to track whats accessing that feature. I have full Systempanel and Logcat but what should i be looking for? Would it be like weather widgets?
Using the FaceBook (FB) app on the EVO 4G is a great feature. Allows you to get numbers of your friends on FB without being in your contact list. Has their FB picture show up when they call etc.
Cannot save numbers in my contacts if sync'd with FB.
Example: Friend gives me her number (that I currently do NOT have in my contacts) I dial her number, it comes up with her name and her FB picture (because she has her mobile number linked to her FB account). Now I cannot save this number to my contacts from call history because it shows up as if it is already there. I can dial her number again then hit add contact and that works just curious if there is a way to do it from text's or call history so I don't have to keep re-typing the number just to save it.
I have HTC Sync on my PC and suddenly its not auto-syncing when I connect my phone.Opening it up on my PC and it just says Disconnected, similiarly through the Hero. Can't think its anything to do with anti-virus etc. as I synced a week ago with my works PC (Outlook calendar).
I've been looking for an app that will auto-sync my photo gallery to an online source like flickr or picasa. I know the photobucket app will do it, but i'm not a fan of photobucket in general. Does anyone know of one that can do the other sites?
if i turn them both off will my email update every hour like i have it set? Or do i have to turn on one of them? I also noticed that in order to go to the market place i have to have background data on, why is this even though i can go onto the internet with both of the settings off?
I am having problems with auto sync with gmail contacts. The gmail and google calendar auto sync fine, but whenever I add a contact I always have to do a manual sync on the phone to get the contact from my pc to phone or vice versa. It worked fine for a while but at some point just decided to stop.
T-Mobile UK user here. I've searched through this forum but can't seem to find anyone else reporting this.I've had a G2 for approx 3 weeks now, however, the thing just won't sync Gmail as it should - either via Auto-sync or by manually trying. I've had a G1 for the last 12 months so feel experienced enough to know when something's not quite right. I am using the G2 in exactly the same locations as the G1 so it cannot be a reception issue. I've tried sending test emails from my work email address to my Gmail account: Out of the 10 test emails sent over the space of 8 hours, only 2 came through (the G2 was on Auto-Sync the whole time). The others eventually came through via a combination of manually instigating Sync (1 success) or, in most cases, having to switch the phone off and on - even this only worked twice. Whenever I sent emails from work to G1 they would appear on the phone instantly. There isn't a prob with the emails leaving my work domain as I can see that they have all been delivered successfully viewing my Gmail account over the web. If I leave the phone on the Data Synchronization screen, the round sync indicator is constantly running next to "Google Mail" and intermittantly pauses with the error message that "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shorlty". have also found that the reception doesn't appear to be as good as the G1 - I work in central London and live 10 miles south of the river.I'm running FW 1.5 Kernal 2.6.27-a5504199 Software 1.0.0.A6288
When you have auto sync settings turned on for certain things, like Facebook, Twitter, weather, etc. but you *don't* have these apps open or any widgets on your homescreens, do they still sync at the specified times?
I ask for general knowledge, but also because I'm curious if my Dictionary.com Word of the Day widget (or even the app itself) is updating itself every day, even though I don't use the widget on my homescreens (and the app hasn't been opened in a while either). But Dictionary.com is always listed in the running programs list.
