View 6 RepliesThere's this icon that pops up at random.
Its kinda like a rectangle shape, with a plus sign in the middle.. I wish I could attach a screenshot but I am not sure how to..
Today, one of my text message conversations showed an icon on the right hand side that I was unfamiliar with. It was right about the date/time stamp and looked like an x button. I was thinking maybe it meant the conversation had reached a limit because no matter how many additional texts I sent or received from this person, the number stayed the same (204). But when I restarted the phone, the icon had gone away and the number started increasing again.

It's my first smartphone (and touchscreen) Im not too familiar with any of the lingo that Im sure is needed to get my question answered, BUT...
My phone went through an update NOV 13th. When I woke up it was like having a new phone. Im comfortable with it now, but I dont really know what any of the icons that appear in my (text) message threads are.
I had a few red triangles with "!" exclamation points pop up. After some online research I found it to mean a message had not sent. I learned how to delete them and everything has been okay, no icons off to the side of message threads except the attachment paperclip. Until today. I was conversing back and forth with my dad via text. After I had sent my last message to him a blue box with a white 1 (one) in it came up next to the message thread. this box only appears when im in the message home screen, that shows all the message threads, not when that specific thread is open. Along with the box, at the top of the message screen, where it says "messages" with the "+" off to the right hand side there is a blue 1. Im sure its related to the blue box/white 1, considering it was not there prior.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to change the incoming call screen for unknown numbers and contacts without photos? The little robot (foryo or whatever) is a cute logo.. but it looks like a waving dildo.. Often times I have to answer calls in front of customers, family and friends. It's a little embarrassing having to pull a noisy, illuminated, vibrating green dildo out of my pocket every time I get a phone call.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've thought there might be a shell script I could run, maybe get an app that can run shell scripts from an icon on the home screen--but I don't know what that script would need to be, since it couldn't be about killing a process because that process ID is probably going to be different every time, and I don't know if it would require root. Rooting my phone is not an option.
I'm going to assume though that there's probably no answer to this and that I'll just have to keep going in by hand to force stop the app via prefs/apps/name-of-app/force stop. I just wish these app makers would have an exit option. Twitter and Vine and Growlr are examples of these programs with this kind of behavior. Facebook as well, but that'll just reload itself when you force quit it because it's a special "system app". I mean, I'm not expecting them to exit when I just go to the home screen, that would be silly, but I'd like SOME sort of option to close them besides going through the hassle of force stopping them via the OS preferences.
I want there to be NO chance whatsoever that these programs are going to access data in some way once I'm done using them. I have no problem with whatever the programs want to do when I WANT them running, but when I'm done using them, I want to be able to quit them, and it has nothing to do with wanting to have more free memory.

My boyfriend just left for Basic Training for the Army, and I should be expecting a call from him soon, and then possibly every Sunday. It could be from his phone, or a phone at the base, I don't know which.
I work weekends so I need to find an app that will only allow incoming calls from my boyfriends number and ALL unknown numbers.
I've been able to find apps to add people to "VIP" lists, but not one that also allows the silencing of my entire contact list and allows Unknown.
(I'm trying to avoid downloading an app and manually going in and silencing everyone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I get handed a new and previously unknown Android device (typically from a minor player), is there a way to figure out which components it is made of, such as the SoC, the flash chip, the RAM type etc. (Assuming noone else has posted the info of cause)?
In other words are there any tools (other than a screwdriver) for finding this out directly from the device, preferably without rooting (as some of this info may be needed to pick a rooting method...)?
All of the sudden a camera app I've never seen before or installed shows up in my android app list.
I don't know what it is. It might have happened after installing DoubleTwist Alarm Clock. I'm afraid to open it since I think it might be malware. It has a purple icon.

I've never seen this process before today. My power went from 100 to 20% very quickly for some reason. When I checked the battery usage, whisperd was using 87%. I've never seen whisperd before, let alone have a process use that much of the battery. how to disable it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been out of the Android game for awhile now. My first smart phone was an HTC Inspire and after that I jumped to the iPhone 4S. Well now I decided to go back to Android and I picked up a Galaxy S5 since I was impressed with my wife's S3. Love the phone, but I have one question that I can't quite figure out.
The AT&T Galaxy S5 has 16GB of memory. The available memory is a little over 10GB due to all of the bloatware and OS files, of course. Well I went out and purchased a 64GB MicroSD card and expanded that bad boy greatly. I moved any apps that I can over to the SD card and all of my music is over there as well. Well, here is the problem.
Out of the 10+ gigs available on the device (not SD), I only have 4GB free and 7.5GB used. I should not have that much space being used AT ALL. If I look at the My Files app, the graph shows that I only have 2GB of app data and no documents, 4mb audio (the rest on SD), video, ect. I only have 33mb of photos. I should have no more than 2.4GB used total. What could possibly be taking up so much space?
What is the usage each of this processes and services running in background as below? They use about 61 M of my RAM!
As you see there are 5 services for GO SMS Pro! Why this services begin running after reboot? For google services also a service named android core apps begin running.
I can't get to recovery at all when i enter it i cant see the recovery but when i touch the screen it viberates and i thing i am pressing on the recovery stuff plus i cant root at all the adb says : unkown host service
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an mt6575 processor phone in which want to add Greek Language settings. I have downloaded a folder form the manufacture's site, but it didn't contain any instructions.
Just some .bin files (ALICE.BIN VIVA.bin, SANSTAR50_6464_11B_BOOTLOADER_V005_MT6250_MAUI_11B _W11_32_SP_V1.bin and ZIMAGE_ER.bin)and a scatter file that can not be read by flash tool (scatSANSTAR50_6464_11B.txt).
After a lot of reading around here and a lot of other forums and sites I realised that in order to do anything, I had to root my phone. I wasn't able to do it through superclick or mtk droid tools so I followed the instructions I found here: [URL] .....
However, I am stuck on the final step.. I can't seem to get my phone on cwm mode... In fact I am not sure I know what exactly this is. I manage to open my phone on the android recovery utility but I am not able to make any choice. Everytime I press some of the menu's choises an android robot with an exclamation mark fills the screen and nothing happens...
Anyway..even if I manage to finalize the rooting process.. I still don't know what to do with the files I have... should I use them somehow on flash tool?
By the way.. The files come with a tool called Multiport Download Flash Tool which looks like Sp flash tool but has too many port options.
