I had an iPhone 4S but upgraded to the HTC.
For some reason I can't text people with an iPhone. I still have the 4S and I turned iMessage off. I went on the Apple Support site and looked at the devices and clicked the "X" to unregister my phone and my macbook.
Im still not able to receive texts from people with an iphone. I can send them messages but can not get them back. I am also able to send and receive calls.

I just got my phone yesterday and haven't figured this out yet. I can't text some people. It tells me its unable to send text. Says resend or use area code, but it says the same thing when I enter the area code. It sends it back to me without the area code. I have/the area code entered in the contact details as well.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm really interested in buying a Desire although, unlike some, I intend to buy the phone outright with no contract as I already have a contract I am happy with.However, despite people saying this phone is cheaper than the iPhone, average prices are about 400 which is about the same price you can pick up a 16gb 3Gs. So, am I missing something? Whilst here, am I correct in thinking HTC offer a 2 year Warranty? For 400 I would like at least some safety in case it breaks through no fault of my own.

Apparently, I'm told, Verizon has a limit of 10 max text messages at once (or maybe it is 'built into' the android phone? ) I have a galaxy s / samsung fascinate phone with android 2.3
How can send all of my messages at once? It is a hassle to send multiple mssgs each week. Is there an Android APP that can somehow get around this limitation?
I recently wanted to group text with people with iphones and one blackberry and needless to say it was a disaster. I have tried both the stock messaging app and SMS go, and both fail miserably when receiving and sending texts that are in a group thread, I receive them all separately and send them all separately. Is there an app to do this?

I am a longtime iPhone user and I have recently been given a Samsung Galaxy S3 by my employer. In the past I have just used my old Android phone for Tethering with FoxFi so I can have web access at work on my laptop. I literally never made any phone calls with it for over 2 years. I have had the calls forwarded from my Verizon Android phone to my ATT iPhone since the day I got it.
Currently I have a (PERSONAL) iPhone 4 on AT&T with a 3G connection and I have this (WORK CELL) Samsung Galaxy 3 on Verizon 4G LTE.
I would like the ability to fully test out the S3 and leave the iPhone at home if I so choose. Call forwarding either way is not a problem at all. I can forward my iPhone personal calls to my work cell and I can forward my work cell calls to my iPhone (Currently this is how I have it). Call forwarding works great but I am looking for a way to handle text messages in a similar manner.
I would like to have the ability to send and receive text messages using my personal number from my Android Phone. I have Google Voice installed on both phones but I cant seem to get it to work at all or I am not setting it up correctly. I would not mind having texts show up on both devices or in my Gmail inbox. There has to be a way to do this. That way if I leave either phone at home it not a big deal I don't have to carry two phones. Nobody ever texts my work number, my only texts received are to my personal cell.
Having problems with htc sync
I am using ver. 3.0.5422. it goes thru the sync operation but does modify calendar, people.bookmarks. music. photos or documents.
does anybody have any ideas to fix this?
Last year when I was living in South Korea I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I had no problems with it but since i've been back in the UK every time I text it converts my message into a MMS even though i'm only sending about 80 characters. It's really annoying and means I can only send a few words on each text hah
I've read up online and ive tried downloading some SMS apps such as handcent etc but nothing is working I can't afford to buy a new phone currently, desperately trying to fix this.
Ght now I have a iPhone 3g and I am tired of how tight apple has it locked up. And I want an android baed phone. So I have my sights on the htc magic. For people that made the switch. Do you honestly like it better? I don't care if it doesn't blow the iPhone out of the water I just want somethin onpar with the iPhone. Just better will I be satisfied with the magic if I make the switch to android or should I wait for a G4 or something? I can't get the hero cause non currently or ever will support my art carrier. So I am planning to go with an Rogers htc magic.

When a group message is sent between my co-workers, who are all iphone users, and myself (Note 3), one person in the exchange does not receive the text. This is not the common iMessage issue that was plaguing me when I made the switch from Apple to Android. This is specifically affecting one iphone user. When I send her a text individually it is not a problem. The other iPhone users don't have a problem receiving or sending to me.

1. I received a text message from my credit card company, who are not in my contacts list. The phone has listed the sender as a random facebook contact who is not in my 'people' list. How has this happened and how can I fix it?
2. I have used some of my friends facebook profile photos in my people list. However, when they update their profile picture, the photo does not change on my phone. Can I do anything about this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOcassionaly, when responding to a text, the area you type in for me that says "Tap to compose" is greyed out and when I type, nothing happens. Usually requires a reboot. Anyone have any idea why it would be doing this or how to fix it? I love my phone, but the reboots take forever.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Desire was running well but I've developed a really irritating issue which seems to have started since the Froyo update (O2). Quite often when I send text/sms messages I get the Unable To Send error warning in the top left of the main screen. At first I was hitting the Resend option all the time but it keeps coming back and I noticed that if I check my text messages All Messages box then the message has actually been sent, yet the Unable to Send message persists until I use the Clear option. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

I seem to receive text messages without problems but sending text messages does not get to certain people. One colleague at work who is on ATT can send me a text but does not receive mine in return. Similar stories for some other contacts of mine and some are on Verizon as well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOne thing that I noticed from this phone, nexus one, is that you, the user, can not select people from your contacts when writing a text.. you would have to first go through your contacts and then choose one specific person to text... how would you do a mass text message... I want to have the choice of selecting who I want to receive the text after I write it... has any one felt the same way?? Has some tried to solve this "problem"
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with sending text messages to a few people and they aren't even all on the same carrier.I have been using CM 5.0.6.1 and really haven't had any problem until today.I switched to the stock 2.1 with root because i thought that maybe it was the rom and still these people can't receive my text messages they can send me messages and I receive them but I cannot send them out.I have reactivated my phone twice now and nothing has worked.Any help would be much appreciated.I know I said in the title i can't receive them but I can sorry i'm kind of tired at the moment.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Hero from Sprint. Great little phone. I'm having issues with texting. Here's my scenario.I receive a text from Facebook stating someone wrote on my wall. The from id is 123456789. I then get a text from a friend George. In the list view of of my texts George's text showing under the Facebook number. When I press on the Facebook name it shows the text from Facebook then from George. If I reply it goes to Facebook not George.It also happens under different users, appears to be very random and is causing issues as I'm trying to quickly reply, forget to check who it's going to, then I text someone something I shouldn't have. Not cool.Any ideas how to fix it? I downloaded Handcent SMS as well and that is having the same issue so it appears to be a root droid issue.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been using Google Voice on my Env Touch for about a year now but only mainly for the sms transcriptions as the Env Touch doesn't have an app for it.
So, here's my main problem. All of my contacts are just in my phone. I don't have anyone's email address as all I do mainly is txt people or send them a message on facebook. I'm wanting to add all of my contacts to my gmail account so when I get my Incredible everything will be there. Right now my sms from GV just has the number and I actually don't know any of my friends numbers, they're just in my phone. *yes, technology can be a sort of burden at times* So I don't have a clue who the voicemail is from until I call into it. Is there any easy way of porting all these contacts from either my phone, backup assistant, or facebook? Also, do android phones take your contacts and your facebook and merge them into your gmail account?
Does anyone know how to send the same text to multiple people at the same time?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make iPhone-style EditText element on android. The one that will have an additional clear button appear on the right after text input. Adding a new button is not a problem, but I'm a bit stuck with another thing.
A button occupies some space on the right part of EditText, and now characters display beneath the button. How to change maximum shown length of input for EditText? I want EditText width to be N pixels, and editable area to be N-M pixels.
EditText.setWidth changes width for whole edit box. EditText.setEllipsize should be the proper solution, but docs are empty, and as I see it truncates text based on some String value. Applying a LengthFilter cut's the input length to number of characters.
