General :: Sharing Laptop Internet On Android Phone While Using Phone WiFi Hotspot Enable?
Apr 4, 2013
I have samsung android phone which can be used as wifi hotspot. My question is can I use my laptop internet on android phone by connection laptop to android phone hotspot as phone is unable to connect adhoc network.
it is possible to send 3g from your android phone to your PC, without others can see it? I dont want it to be broadcast in the public, and i cant do a direct connection with a datacord. So is there a way to share your 3g connection with your computer, without public broadcast and datacord/wires?
I own an HTC Magic and am about to go travelling around my country.
I have the 3g connection on the magic and want to know if I can share it somehow to my laptop using a wireless network or the usb data cable. I would love to be able to surf the net on my laptop using the phone as the modem!
Does anybody know if this is possible - what apps I need and how to do it!
I'm getting a galaxy s3 very soon and I'm thinking about getting a nexus 7 with it.But as you know, nexus 7 doesn't have 3G so my only option to access network on it when there's no wifi network available is to use my future s3 as a wifi hotspot. So my questions are:
1-Is data consumption when using the phone as a wifi hotspot the same as if I'm normally using 3G on the phone itself ?
2-How long can an android(specifically the S3 if it matters much) act as a wifi hotspot before the battery runs out ?
Ok, so I have a problem, I have only one cable and two computers, one with the wifi antena and no option for cable and other with cable and no antena, so I guess my question here is can I share my cable computers internet to my android phone and then can my android phone tether it through wifi, so my laptop can connect to it? I have just bought an Android Smart TV Box (to replace my AC Ryan media box which gave up the ghost a few days ago) and it mostly works fine - it is connected to my tv via hdmi and the box is hard wired to my router - so it is the standard connection setup. I have two usb hard drives connected to it. I obviously want to drag and drop media files from my phone (android) or my laptop (Windows7) to the connected hard drives I use ES Explorer app on my phone and Windows explorer but using either version I cannot see the Android box wirelessly - if i do a scan using es explorer it finds the laptop straight away and i can drag and drop but it just will not find the android box at all. However if i go onto the Android box and into the es explorer app and do a scan it picks up the laptop and i can drag and drop a file onto the laptop. So the wireless is sort of working as opposed to not at all. But just seems odd that i cant see it at all - i cant even ping it from the laptop.
I know this is usually done the other way round. My uni halls doesn't have wifi, instead it has an ethernet cable for every room. The problem with this is I'm using up my 3g internet on my phone a lot more and i'd like to do things like update my apps and check twitter more but i'm scared i'll run out. By plugging my phone into my laptop, is there a way to borrow the internet from my laptop for my phone?
I have a PC running Windows XP, which is connected to the internet using a wired cable modem. I then have a laptop, which I want to use to access the internet, but no wireless router.
Then I realized that my G1 (running Froyo) has WiFi, and I have the USB cable for it. So, is there any way of setting up my G1 to use the connection from the desktop PC via USB, and then broadcast it as a WiFi network? This is only intended to be a temporary solution (a few days) so I'm not going to go out and buy a wireless router or anything.
Has anyone managed to get it to work with a Linux laptop? In the countryside where i am my mobile broadband fails frequently so it's a good feature. My Win7 laptop connects easily, but my LInux laptop doesn't. Haven't spent much time on the problem either - so before I do, anyone got it to work or is it a waste of time trying to?
I've had a Galaxy Tab for 2 years, and used it, very successfully, as a wifi hotspot from May until July this year, when my laptop was suddenly not able to connect to the internet via the hotspot. It connected just fine to the Tab, and has no problems on my home wifi. The Tab was still able to connect to the internet normally, with no apparent problems.
I fiddled about a bit and thought perhaps it was a hardware problem, so bought a seconhand Nexus S. That has been working fine until yesterday, when the exact same thing has happened - the laptop can connect fine to the Nexus, but says there is no internet connection. The Nexus itself is connecting just fine.
I have a Google Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2.I've just tried a speed test on it using the Android app (speedtest.net) and it says over wifi I'm getting about 1mps down/upload. I've also tried it on my laptop using the same wifi connection but through the browser using thier website Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and it says im getting about 15 mps down and almost 1 upload.
when I go into Chrome and search for speedtest it goes to the play store with thier app, any way I can access thier site on my phone browser? the desktop site doesn't seem to work?
Is it possible for Android to connect to Windows ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) via WiFi?I have set up Windows ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on my Windows XP laptop WiFi adapter. The connection is open with WEP disabled. From a Windows Mobile 6 PDA I am able to see various WiFi routers, my laptop ICS and connect to the laptop ICS.From Android I am only able to see the various WiFi routers, but not the laptop ICS connection.Does the Windows ICS use some special Microsoft protocol that the Android WiFi adapter can not detect? Is there some other Android software or app that can connect the Windows WiFi ICS?

I just bought the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and realized it cannot share internet to a computer via bluetooth or wifi. Is there any apps or anything else which enables it to easy share internet? I have found something called Android wifi tether. But this does not work for Sony Ericsson.I really need an application for this purpose and I cannot wait until Sony Ericsson's comes with the update for Android 2.1.
I am wondering if there is an application I can download or purchase so that I can run the Internet on my laptop off of my phone's Internet. I have a htc hero and I want to do away with my Internet card so my phone bill will be cheaper.
I recently bought a HTC Tattoo. And I like to access internet on Tattoo using PC broadband connection. I have ASUS motherboard with inbuild WiFi support. So, using that I have made my WiFi of PC to Access Point Mode. So, now I am able to connect to PC using that WiFi network. But I am unable to access internet. Can anyone suggest me the way to share my PC internet to my HTC Tattoo to save money when we are at home.
i want to go to internet in my laptop through my phone internet when they are connected throgh usb port. any one knows how can that be possible. i had done this with my another phone sony ericsson k800 with selecting phone mode when i connect phone and laptop together but my xperia doesn't have this option. I have a Macbook Pro, its connected to Ethernet & I want to share the internet connection with my Samsung Galaxy S. I enabled Internet Sharing on my Mac, selected Airport under ports & provided a WEP password. On my Galaxy S, I select my macbook on the list of WiFi n/w, provide the password, but it never gets connected & there is no error msg either. Has anyone else tried this? Any ideas on why this is happening? BTW, I'm able to connect my Galaxy S to my wireless router at home.
I want my Android phone to share its internet connection with other wifi enabled devices. Seems so cool to have a laptop and a couple ipods or something sharing the connection.
I know this can be done if the phone is rooted, or whatever you call it, but isn't there an app that I can download and make it work without needing to hack the phone? I know PDA net works pretty well, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. You have to connect the phone to the computer via USB or bluetooth, and it gets on the internet through there. I want to be able to have multiple devices quickly and easily jump on the Androids connection.
