General :: Multiple Contacts That Share Same Phone Number
Nov 14, 2012
Just switched from a PalmPre+ and am still trying to learn about ICS on my Droid4 but ran into something I can not seem to find a solution for:
I have several conference call contacts that share the same access number and I keep their unique access ID as part of the contact name so that I can type it in when prompted (once the call connects and the contact name is still visible on the dialer pad).
"Adam's conferencee call code 12345678"
"Betty's conference call code 87654321"
"Charlie's conference call code 54637281"
however when manually choosing to dial from Betty's contact list, the android dialer ends up showing "Adam's conference 12345678".
is there a way to "disable the phone# look up when picking from the contact" which ends up displaying the first contact name it encounters in the alphabetically sorted list?
I have contacts on my Droid with phone numbers that the same contact in Gmail do not have. Some history:
I have a Droid 3. My Accounts include my main Gmail acct, a gmail acct I hardly ever use (no contacts issues there), a pop3 account and a Touchdown-Exchange account which I dont need because Im not connected to that Exchange server any longer. Some time ago, since I wasnt on the Exchange server any more, I deleted the Touchdown account. Then I realized some or most of my Google contacts had disappeared from the phone. Thinking that this would delete the same contacts from the Gmail servers when it synced, I immediately restored the Touchdown account, restoring the lost contacts to the phone. Are these 2 issues related?
Is there an app that I can use to share a number of apps I installed on a webpage including QR-codes, GPlay-links, short descriptions etc.? The apps I know of mostly share text only and/or links but none I found allow me to generate a webpage (or use a site for this) which has all the info in a neat, organized way so that my friends can read the descriptions and decide which apps to download from there.App Brain's API has an app widget that would be somewhat fitting but
1) there is no app to automatically create those based on a list of apps on your phone and
2) it requires people to use App Brain, which some people don't like.Basically, I'd like to have it created automatically and look like the ones used by Android Police (but with links to Play-Store only and no need for ratings)
I have a task here: Share 200 contacts between 200 android phones as easy as possible. Is this possible without having a google account? I have found some apps with backup and import options, but then I would need to add a Google account.I will configure one phone with all contacts, and preferably send some kind of file to all of the other users.
Phone: Samsung galaxy xcover. Users: Elderly people
Create 1 google account, add contacs, tell all users to sign up with the same account. 200 phones running the same google account.
My sister and her boyfriend each have their own mobiles, but they share the same land line. When someone calls me from that land line, caller ID always shows that it's my sister's boyfriend calling me, when 90% of the time it'll be my sister. Is there any way to change the default caller (in terms of caller ID) for a particular land line when a land line is shared among contacts?
I try to make "type-to" filter in the my dialer. When I tap a digit, there must be a list (ListView) of supposed contacts (all of them have a number containing a part from my dialer TextView). For example, if I tap 555, there must be presented contacts with such numbers:
555890856 555789734 895550123
Code: String phoneNumberPart = //this is the part of phone number. Only part! final Uri baseUri = ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_FILTER_URI; final Uri uri = Uri.withAppendedPath(baseUri, Uri.encode(phoneNumberPart)); final String projection = CONTACTS_PROJECTION; //_ID, DISPLAY_NAME, LOOKUP_KEY Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(uri, projection, null, null, null); 2nd attempt:
Code: String phoneNumberPart = //this is the part of phone number. Only part! final Uri baseUri = ContactsContract.PhoneLookup.CONTENT_FILTER_URI; final Uri uri = Uri.withAppendedPath(baseUri, phoneNumberPart); final String projection = CONTACTS_PROJECTION; //_ID, DISPLAY_NAME, LOOKUP_KEY Cursor cursor = getContentResolver().query(uri, projection, null, null, null);
In both attempts cursor count is always 0, despite I dial the phone number of real contact.
Is it possible to filter contacts by this criteria, using Android uris? Or there is no way but "get all contacts, iterate over them and check their numbers"?
I transferred contacts from my old phone (Samsung Instinct). One of the numbers was a voicemail for another location. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?
I've installled the Gallery3D-App (the one from the nexus one) and I like it alot... the only problem is. I can share 1 picture on facebook, but the moment, i chose another one, its only shareable trough picasa and email why cant it share multiple pics at once?
Basically, i use my personal cell phone for work and personal use, i have multiple exchange accts that keep things sorted and seperated.
recently though i have been getting more and more business calls to my cell phone, during and outside of normal business hours.
what im looking for is an app that will take a selective group of contacts/phone numbers/CID strings and if it is a "business" call then forward it to a specific phone number (external number, the actual business line).
I have seen apps on the market and around that will forward calls to voicemail if they match certain filters, but i cant really seem to find an app that will forward to an external number. Any way I could accomplish this?
I am developing an app which requires me to write to an SQLiteDatabase in one activity and access it from another activity . I am facing a problem implementing this. Any suggestions/ideas as to how we can share the database across multiple activities?
I got my Droid 2 a couple weeks ago, and I'm having two problems with my contacts list: 1) For some contacts, the phone numbers aren't displayed when I view the contact. To see the numbers, I have to edit the contact. This is only true for some, not all. Is there a setting somewhere that this is controlled? 2) Sometime when I go into my contact list, I see a list of social media items for my contacts instead of their names (which is very frustrating). What controls this?
i have problem with contacts and its frustrating google account did some stupid things and now i have same number in multiple forms and i dont know how to get rid of it.
number 0123456789 number 012-345-6789 number 012 345 6789
in some contacts its shown 2-3 times somewhere 1 (just like it should be).i want get rid of these same numbers (tried duplicate contacts and id doesnt work).if needed manually BUT set it on google account right way without sync it back in these chaos state
I have added all my old phone contacts, and also got all my gmail contacts onto my HTC desire. Obviously there are lots that need linking. I have read that the notification area should now show an icon indicating that there are 'matched contacts suggestions' but it does not. I can go through individual contacts and link them, but I need to do them all in one go...
I have tried syncing my gmail account but still nothing.
I dont care about facebbook right now. I have searched on the firum but pretty much every post is about facebook.
Ideally i just want all my contacts merged on the gmail account or for 'people' to show a merged list.
Can anyone help me figure out why the notification icon wont show me there are matched contacts suggestions so i can see a list of all the suggestions?
it is opening phone contacts and when i choose one contact i can get all detail of the contact but not getting the number type of numbers; more specific >> if the user have four numbers, i can get all number but not getting number type of these numbers i.e. HOME,WORK,MOBILE)
What exactly does joining contacts do?I have joined all my duplicates and contacts from different lists together so there's only one entry per person. If I go on them, they're all listed under my Google Account under my email address. however some of them I merged on my phone aren't merged on gmail contacts.
And I see all the names now of my list, but the numbers aren't saved.. just their name, sometimes their email address..I'm currently on an old T-Mobile G2 but getting N4 soon..
When I text the number it fails, I double checked, the number is correct, I deleted his contact and noticed a capital N in front of his number. I manually typed his number to text and again it failed to send and again it had put a capital N in front of his number
When I use gmail (version 2.3.6), I can't send the same email to multiple contacts at the same time. I have no way to access my contacts (people) and choose more than one contact without having to keep adding one contact at a time. I want to be able to choose several contacts and add them at the same time. Gmail support said click on the gmail icon in the upper left hand corner, but there is none. What do I need to do?
I have the phone running Android 2.3.4 (rooted).I have two Google accounts setup on my phone. I use both of them as there are apps purchased from both accounts.
I would like to sync contacts from my phone to BOTH the accounts. As of now, contacts are being synced to just one Google Account. In the "Accounts and Sync", I see both the Google Accounts listed, with the "Sync Contacts" option enabled for both accounts.
Is it possible to sync contacts to both GOOGLE accounts from the phone? If yes, how?
I want to Send a message to multiple Whatsapp Contacts/Groups using "Tasker" with "WhatsTasker" plugin .I tested my implementation to send SMS message to multiple contacts and it works well. But when I try to send message to whatsapp it sends the message only to the first index (Contact/Group)
Also, I have test this to send a personal message to 2 contacts but it sends the message only to first number .I tried to trim the "@s.whatsapp.net"/for contacts and "@g.us" for groups in 2 variables then add them inside whatstasker After the number -> Still sends to only first number
I thought it's because it's using root access and Toast message displays so I used "Wait" action for 10 seconds inside For loop after sending the message but still same thing only first contact will receive the message
Code: SMS (9) A1: Variable Set [ Name:%msg To:Test tasker Do Maths:eek:ff Append:eek:ff ] A2: Variable Set [ Name:%telephones To:90123456789-1395136140,91234567890-1395136053 Do Maths:eek:ff Append:eek:ff ][code].....
Yesterday I took a picture and wanted to send it to my brother. I wanted to send him a URL to an uploaded file so I could then share that URL with others in the future. I did not want to email a picture because, frankly, it's not as easy as pasting a URL in a GTalk window.
I spent about 10 minutes thinking of all the ways I could do this using Google services and couldn't find any way to do it on my phone. Here are the options I considered:
Option 1) Upload to Google Plus - but viewing the photo in G+ app doesn't provide a public link. SHaring option only presents your standard email, mms, etc. options. Option 2) Upload to Picasa - but I get the same sharing options as G+ - no option to grab a link. Option 3) Google Drive. This was the last option, but of course it only presents the same options as before. Now, I can create a public link when I'm at a computer, but not on my Android device.
So I ended up having to upload via the imgur app and just sending that link. I'm okay with that for now, but I'm already uploading to G+ automatically; why can't I just get a public url through the app?
That whole process was very disappointing. I wish Google would give us some way, any way, to share a file via URL through a Google App - specifically, Drive.
I used to be able to just plug the phone into the computer via USB and a drive letter would appear and I would be able to easily move files off the phone and to my computer.
Now when I plug the phone in Media Share pops up with numerous menus and sub menus. Best I've been able to figure out to do is copy one individual file at a time to some mystery folder somewhere on my network. Or using DLNA it opens up Windows Media Player on my computer which shows previews of the photos but no way to transfer the actual files.
