General :: Little App Or Widget / Button To Just LOCK The Screen?
Dec 22, 2012
There seems to be plenty of adequate little homescreen button apps to lock the screen. but they turn it off at the same time. I want the option for both. I already have one that turns the screen off, now I want a different one that just brings up the ICS default lock screen (the one that shows up just after turning the screen back on or at OS startup - if you set it to have lock security).
I'll put em in the icon group on the home screen.
It's cos sometimes I just need to lock the screen while carrying the phone for a short while [and don't want to touch something while grabbing it by the screen], then easily [without having to press the power button] unlock phone again to resume using it once I'm done carrying.
I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
Any app that has secure lock screen like with pattern or code unlock, but also has access to camera app straight from lock screen without unlocking the phone... though there would be another security needs to be applied that if the phone is used by someone else, they can use it to take pictures or videos but cannot go into gallery or review other data if the camera is activated by straight from unlock screen....and then, if one needs to access the gallery from there.. they need to draw secured pattern or key in the unlock code....
I'm looking for an app or widget or shortcut or something that will force the phone to lock. Right now the phone locks after 10 minutes. However, if a situation arises where I need to lock the phone immediately there's no option to do that. There is an option under Settings to trigger on power button push. I'm not a huge fan of that since I use the power button to switch off the phone when I don't need it (to save battery). If nothing exists I might try the power button option.
I have a Verizon Motorola Droid Bionic with Android version 4.0.4.
I've been using Android devices for couple of years. I have tried several lock screen widgets but none did provide what I want. I want exactly the same actions of iOS lock screen notifications, i.e. when I receive an e-mail I'd like to see it on the screen and if I touch/slide it, I'd like it to be unlocked into the Gmail app or if it's a Whatsapp message, I'd like to see the Whatsapp message screen instead of the home and afterwards launching Whatsapp and going into the selected message.
it just flips out goes up and down and the screen cant be touched untill i press the top button and it goes back to the screen lock, i have it rooted and running 2.2 im not all up on what this does should i just reset to og settings?
Found using these two apps from the market allows me to hardly ever have to use the power button (only for power off/on situations). Which is great because I know there has been reported issues of the button sinking in.
I have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.
I just got the vibrant about a week ago, and so far no major issues. Still fumbling around in the apps market for the good stuff. One thing I found annoying was having to press the power/unlock button and then swiping the screen to unlock the phone every time, is there anything in the market or some setting to avoid pressing the button and just swiping the screen or possibly using the touch buttons on the front of the phone then swiping?
I just got my Milestone from Telus here in Canada. When the phone powers up, two 'sliding' buttons appear. A green one on the left to unlock the phone, and another one on the right to silence it.
When holding the phone in one hand, the green unlock button is too low on the screen for a comfortable flick with the thumb. If it were on the upper third of the screen instead of the lower third, this would be much easier.
Okay so all of a sudden yesterday the lock button on my Samsung Moment kind of stopped working. When you press the hang up button on the phone, its supposed to lock. If you hold the hang up button it brings up a menu for power off, sounds off and airplane mode.
For some reason when I press the hang up button to lock the phone, it doesnt work but when I press and hold the hang up button, the menu thats supposed to pop up does.
If the button semi works I cant see it being a problem with the button. My friend says its a software glitch but it worked fine for months and then all of a sudden yesterday morning it stopped working. I HAVE NOT updated the phone or anything recently.
Since the update, I don't have an emergency call button on my lock screen. I don't remember one being there before either. The manual talks about one being there, and I've seen posts about it. Is this an option to turn on?
Has anyone worked out if it is possible to set one of the buttons on the bottom of the Desire to bring up the lock screen rather than using the power button at the top. Only just got the phone 3 days ago but this is (sor far) the only niggle I have.
Now, from here I could press the back button to kill the activity, but I also want a press of the lock button to silence the alarm. How would I go about creating a handler for presses of the lock screen button?
I'm on a Samsung G3 and just updated to 4.3. Enjoying it for the most part but the new lock screen is giving me some trouble. I preferred the one from 4.1 but I'm trying to adapt. Downloaded DashClock and added weather, email, and SMS extensions but I keep getting the stock Messaging widget popping up when I get a message (see image). I do want my phone to vibrate and the screen to turn on when I get a message, I just don't want to deal with the extra widgets.
DashClock is my default widget (got rid of the standard one and dragged DashClock to the right). Is there a way to disable all these extra widgets?
By the way, I did try disabling multiple widgets in the settings after setting DashClock to be my default and it kicked DashClock out and reverted back to the stock lock screen.
But sometimes other small parts/and or button commands lock-up. For example; since I am new to Swype, I decided to take the tutorial and each time I would click (or even tried to slide) the next button, it wouldn't respond took about 5-7 tries. While on the phone with tech/and CS yesterday (for whole diff issue), I asked about the Capacitive Button Sensitivity - as mine wasn't working that well either (as others have mentioned). Tech had me remove the battery for 2 full minutes, and put back in - and now the Capacitive Buttons works perfectly.Anyone else having partial screen/certain buttons not responding to commands? I guess I could try removing the battery again, but I am not sure that will fix it.
