General :: Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 - Install Original Recovery?

Apr 17, 2014

I have flashed the GT-P1000 tab with clockworkmod version 6 (i am not sure the exact version) using Odin. Now after flashing the recovery, I have successfully installed Cyanogenmod 11 (nightly build) and everything was successful and everything is great.

A friend of mine borrowed the tab and he put a pattern to lock the phone, instead of asking him what is the pattern I just decided to wipe the tab again to make a clean install. So what I did was I went to recovery and selected "format /system" which I shouldn't have, then after rebooting it is not booting up to Cyanogen anymore, so what i did was I just wiped everything (format /data, cache and factory reset)

Now this is the weird part, the devices has kept on booting up to clockwork recovery and it says the device is not yet rooted, it is asking me if it is ok to root it, I always selected yes

After another boot up, the clockwork recovery is now version 3.0.0.5??? it is really weird? I never installed any clockwork mod with a lower version... How did that happen?

Now whenever I try to install from sd card or restore it or mount it nothing happens, it just says:

E:Can't mount
E:unknown volume
E:unable process volume! skipping

I tried to flash the recovery again using Odin many times but still the clockwork mod is stuck in version 3.0.0.5.

Right now, I am not sure if my understanding of the entire system is correct:

1. Should I install a new recovery, if yes, how and why is it whenever I am installing it again it is not being installed, it gets stuck to version 3.0.0.5?

2. Are there any other recovery I should use and how should I install it? is it the same as using the Odin?

3. Is there a way to install the original recovery of this tab and then from there I will start over again.

Samsung Galaxy S :: Flashing A Samsung Tablet P1000

Aug 20, 2010

I'm an Android developer who is working with the upcoming Samsung P1000 tablet. I have to say that I haven't worked with Samsung Android devices so far. This is a developer/Engineer sample but I have real rough time to get a contact person at Samsung to help me solve this in a fast way, so I'm asking to the community :-)

The thing is I was trying my application while developing and every certain time I found the phone memory almost full (I think the tablet is saving all of its logs in a very verbose way in /data/logs where I haven't permission to access, and also it hasn't a micro sd inserted). The first time this happened I just did a factory reset from the OS itself.
The second time has been today and the phone was so full of data it didn't start at all. I was viewing the logs with adb logcat and Android was unable to start. He was trying and trying again (like in a loop) but only the Android logo was shown. I found the lack of memory to be the reason for this:

W/BatteryStats( 2949): Error writing battery statistics
W/BatteryStats( 2949): java.io.IOException: No space left on device
W/BatteryStats( 2949): at org.apache.harmony.luni.platform.OSFileSystem.writ eImpl(Native Method)

W/BatteryStats( 2949): at com.android.server.am.ActivityManagerService$AThre ad.run(ActivityManagerService.java:1338)

The tablet can't write anything on the system, so it fails at booting and tries again, and again...

I did a factory reset via ADB with adb reboot recovery. Then the phone shows the recovery menu but no matter what option I choose (reboot, factory reset, update.zip or wipe cache) because the device doesn't seem to be doing anything but keeping the screen in black. If I turn off the device then it goes again to the recovery menu.

So I was stuck with the Android logo screen, and now I'm stuck in the recovery screen.

I thought flashing the phone would help so I turn it on in upload mode pressing the 2 volume buttons together (Power reset or unknown upload mode it says). This way the phone is recognized by Odin Multidownloader. I just grab a leaked firmware for this upcoming tablet from this Web The rar file only contains a SS_DL.dll and a OXA.tar. The tar contains some files: modem.bin, zImage, param.lfs, cache.rfs, dbdata.rfs and factory.rfs.
I've never used Odin nor flashed an android samsung phone so probably I'm doing something wrong. I tried to load the tar as the phone image it gives me an error, I also tried to load it as a single package but also failed.

So at this point I'd be most than grateful if anyone can share his ideas on this almost bricked tablet :-P

Edit: That "upload mode" was a fault of me, probably volume down was released while booting. I have the device in download mode but Odin keep me saying check image files, Any idea??

General :: P1000 / Battery Indicator Shows Wrong Percentage?

Jul 9, 2012

As I remember the issue got started from my fault about wipping my battery state. my battery never charged to 100%.I tought I can solve this by wiping when it's fully charged(99%).so I charge my phone to 99% and wipped.but after that my charge percentage got wrong.for example it shows 50%,but it gets off bcoz of low battery.or I plug my charger when it's at 30%.it jumps to 90%rapidly.I have changed my rom.but no results.I tought maybe it's from relation of hardware(battery)and software(ROM) data.so I decide to try my idea.

My idea was:wipe and format all things at recovery.draining battery to 0%(by entering the downloading mode and remaining to it untill phone gets off)then pluging it to charger and let it fully charged.and then odin and installing a ROM.but I have wiped and formated all ghings.but when I plug the charger now a battery icon appears on the screen, but it doesn't get green as it is charging.

General :: Galaxy S3 - Phone Doesn't Boot?

May 10, 2014

I have a ~1.5 year old Samsung Galaxy S3 (North American) rooted, with Cyanogenmod 11 installed.

Ever since installing CM11, my phone has been restarting itself with some regularity.

Today, with over half the battery left, the phone seemingly turned itself off. I do not believe this is an issue with the cyanogenmod OS and I also don't believe the issue is related to the restarting I've been experiencing. These restarts, in the vast majority of occasions, started with a brief freeze, then screen turning off, before the phone automatically starting up again. However, this time, the phone did not freeze before the screen went black, and the phone did not restart itself. I repeatedly tried pressing the power button to unlock, and when that didn't work, I tried long-pressing to either turn the phone off or back on. When that also failed to work, I pulled the battery, and put it back in. The Samsung logo came up, and then the Galaxy S3 logo with the Cyanogenmod logo came up, then the screen went black again.

And this is where I'm at currently. After the screen goes black, I can't get it to come back on. Long pressing the power button does not turn it back on. Only when I pull the battery and put it back in, does the boot process start. Every time, during the first few seconds of the boot process, the phone turns itself off. Sometimes it only lasts until the Samsung logo, sometimes to the GS3/CM logo.

If I plug the phone in, with the battery inserted, I briefly see a battery on the screen, but again, the phone shuts down.

If I plug the phone in, with the battery out, the LED turns red, the phone vibrates, but nothing happens, and the LED goes out.

I've read about power buttons getting stuck, but this doesn't seem to be the issues since my phone does not go into a boot loop sequence.

I've tried leaving the battery out for an hour or so, but there is no change.

I've also tried pressing power+home+vol down and power+home+vol up, and they seem to work, until again, the phone shuts off. So one of these combinations leads me to warnings about changing OS before shutting down after about the same number of seconds, and the other leads me to the boot logo with the blue text on the top left corner before shutting down.

To me, this doesn't seem to be an issue with software, but with the phone staying powered..somehow.

General :: Galaxy S3 Displays Lines On Boot?

Jul 5, 2013

I have replaced the LCD so it is NOT a hardware issue.

I can't wipe the phone since I cannot access the command menu (or whatever it is called when you hold down the home, volume up and power buttons.)

It was working perfectly on night. I turned it off and the next day when I turned it on this was shown. It was not dropped and there is no water damage.

Samsung screwed me over. I sent the phone to them and when they said it was not under warranty I agreed to pay the price and sent the mail back.

I then received my phone a week later saying I had not accepted the repair price.

General :: Samsung Galaxy S2 In Boot Loop

Oct 6, 2013

I have a bricked Samsung Galaxy S2 and have been doing some research on how to fix this. There is a lot of info online, but I don't understand most of it as it is too technical and I need having it translated into layman's terms!

Context:

- Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100)
- Unlocked
- Purchased from Kogan 2 years ago (no longer under warranty)
- Appears to be Polish stock based on the packaging and manual
- I am in Australia

Problem:

- Phone is stuck in boot loop, unable to get past the intro flash screen that says Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I19100.

- It keeps resetting itself and going back to flash screen infinitely. I need to remove the battery in order for it to stop doing that.

- I'm unable to get into the mode that would allow me to do a factory reset, however I am able to get into download mode.

What I think I need to do, but need verifying:

- Download Odin onto my PC. (I think Odin is software that allows me to access the core of the phone via my PC, is this correct?)

- Download the correct version of the operating system. From what I can gather, there are different versions depending upon which network you are with. Because my phone is unlocked, I need to get an unlocked version but I'm not sure whether I should get one designed for Australia or for Poland (or whether it matters)?

- Connect PC and phone via USB cable

- Turn on Odin

- Somehow use Odin to reinstall O/S on my phone

Questions:

- Are the steps above correct or am I missing something?

- Does it matter which version of Odin I install or can I just do a google search for Odin downloads?

- Where do I find the file I need to reinstall the O/S?

- Where can I find instructions on how to use Odin once I have the correct file to install?

Phone worked fine for the first 5 hours (my first time with an android, fell in love with the UI and the apps) However, phone suddenly hanged and shut down on its own. Been stuck in a boot loop since then: between the Galaxy screen and the Samsung logo screen, which goes back to the Galaxy screen. I can boot into recovery and download. Already tried reset/cache wipe. No avail. Tried the emergency firmware thing in Kies. It sort of went halfway and then suddenly blacked out, and after that even that wont work, Kies refuses to recognize the phone.

I have a T-679. it is only lightly modded. I still have stock UVLE1 with Clockworkmod recovery...v5.5 i think. All has been well until recently I have been trying out a lot of new apps. recently i got the adw launcher and camera sensor. now when i reboot i see one Samsung logo, then tmobile/android logo and jingle, then another Samsung logo and it hangs here. if i wait some time and start pushing buttons I see that the phone seems to be active. if i push the power button then the vol-up/down i hear the sound of the volume being adjusted. also very curiously i just found that if i hold down the home button and press the power button i hear a shutter sound!? In some instances, haven't figured out if its a particular button press of just random, i can get the lock screen to come up, which then allows me to unlock the phone and all works normally... until i reboot again.

edit: I just checked I have CWM recovery v5.5.04,b I have a backup from a while back and i just made another backup I also tryied wipe cache/dalvik which i thought it worked because i think it booted directly after that, but i just tryed again and this time i see no benefit/effect

General :: Can't Get Out Of Boot Loop On Galaxy S3 (GT I9300)

Mar 25, 2013

My Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) was rebooting itself for the past few days, randomly. Last night, it did it again, but didn't boot back up. Instead, it is now stuck on an infinite boot loop - it gets as far as the splash screen (Galaxy SIII logo), then reboots, on a loop.

I've never tried to flash or root the device, I only used the official OTA updates from Samsung.

The first thing I tried was to remove the battery, SIM card and MicroSD card for 5 minutes. I then wiped the Cache Partition through the Android Recovery Mode. I then flashed using the Samsung Kies recovery procedure. This didn't work. I then tried a Factory Reset through the Android Recovery Mode, multiple times. This also didn't work. The last thing I tried was to flash the ROM using Odin3. I used the firmware version appropriate for my region and carrier. Everything was successful, but I'm still having the same problem.

I tried to view the boot logs with adb, but of course, the phone won't stay on for long enough to establish a USB connection. I'm not sure what else to try.

I dropped my Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G from a height of about 3 feet onto a marble floor. The battery popped out, but there is no physical damage as far as I can see. The phone automatically went into a reboot loop, by which I mean it flashes the "samsung" logo again and again. It doesn't turn on or off. After removing the battery and sim card several times to no avail, I searched some of these forums and found the 3 key combination (volume/power/home) which can be used to get a factory reset. Now, I have gotten that factory reset screen where I can scroll using the volume key, but my phone stays on that screen for about 4 seconds before reverting back to flashing "samsung." This is where I stand as of now.

Aug 30, 2013

I installed Cyanogenmod 10.2 a few days ago, and has been working fine up until about an hour ago. My phone basically locked up while I was using Spotify, so I did a hard reboot, and got stuck in a boot loop. I tried to reboot a few times with the same results. I didnt have much on my phone, so I did the factory reset (using Teamwin recovery), but after that the phone was still stuck in the boot loop. After that, I tried the "Format Data" option.

After going through, It was still stuck in the boot loop. I've also tried to restore backups, but to no avail. I'm not super knowledgeable about the whole inner workings of rooting. I didn't want to do the advance wipe (includes internal storage, system, USB-OTG) for fear of really messing something up. If it completely restores to factory settings, i don't really care, I just dont want my phone to be completely unuseable.
