I have a generic LY-F1 Allwinner tablet which was working fine until a week ago. Now, however, it won't boot past the glowing Android screen. I've left it for five or six hours with no progress, so I guess the ROM is corrupted. Is there any other way to fix this other than flashing a new ROM?
However, the main problem with this tablet is that it does not automatically enter mass storage mode when plugged into a laptop, so I have no way to rescue my content. I can see the drives in Windows (one for the internal SD, one for the SD slot) but they are not usable (they result in an 'insert media' message)
Is there a way to force mass storage mode so that I can remove my data in preparation to reflash it? I'm sure I read of a command line method to get into the internal SD card? Or was I imagining it?
Bought the Galaxy S yesterday. I connected the phone to my Windows 7 (64-bit) laptop directly (no USB hub). It detects the two internal memories, but the moment I access them; it says please insert the disk in the drive. What might be problem here? The memory shows as mounted in the phone. Also, Kies application does not appear to be working on Windows 7 64-bit. It does get installed properly, but does not detect the Galaxy S.
When I connect my new Galaxy S to my computer using the usb connection, I can see both the internal and external SD card (I use a sandisk Ultra 16GB card). However I cannot open these disks. Windows refuses to open them. The right click on these disks in order to get their properties gives 0GB! So what is going wrong. Do the SD cards use a special format (linux ?) that windows can not see correctly.
I take chance of this message to give a short feedback of my first week with my galaxy S here in France. I got it from virginmobile operator. I have to say that this phone is amazing. What a screen ! My wife just purchased an iphone 4. By far I prefer the samsung's screen. Concerning the battery. One can go for one or two days without recharging. My feeling is that it is not shorter than the iphone's battery.
I was able to move a few files to my X from my computer earlier tonight, but I unplugged it from my computer to do something on the phone, and when I plugged it in later, the computer showed the phone storage (drive F) and SD card (drive G). However, I can't open the SD card, and when I go into the SD Card settings on the phone, it keeps going back and forth between Mount and Unmount. The stuff on the card is there and everything works fine when I'm not connected to the computer. But I can't move anything to my phone via USB since I can't get the computer to recognize the SD card. I also noticed that there's no option to format the SD card (well, it's there, but grayed out).
So...I am currently using a custom sound for my notifications. Since we aren't allowed to access the internal storage, the sound file is stored on the sd card by default. Today when I plugged my phone in (which is defaulted to USB Mass Storage) it started to play the sound from the card, but Mass Storage mode steals the SD and blocks it from the phone, so halfway through the sound, the phone rebooted. When the phone was almost restarted, it recognized being plugged in (still) and tried to play the sound again...reboot. I unplugged it and changed the default notification to one of the pre-installed ones and tried again. Notification played and everything was fine....wtf? So.....can I either disable the sound when I connect to USB mode or is there a way to put the sound file in the folder with the factory installed ones? (I am rooted)
Previous versions of Android but ICS changed things up a bit and the answer is no longer useful. I'm building a small android file manager type application for the desktop and any system call I might be able to make through adb to enable UMS or mount the sd card of a device from within the desktop application. URL....
I use Samsung Galaxy S2 with Ice Scream Sandwich 4.0.3. WITHOUT EXTERNAL SD CARD ,rooted with SuperSu,oh and I rooted my phone specifically to be able to move apps to internal mass storage.
Firstly, before I tried rooting my phone,I tried moving my apps to internal mass storage via the basic application manager in settings, but it only showed the "move to SD" option.
Then I rooted my phone and downloaded x-plore.With x-plore ( file manager app with root browsing ) I found out that there were two parts of any app on the internal memory.First part ( located in /root/data/app ) contains .apk of an app which is oftenly same size as the installation of an app.Second part ( located in /root/data/user/data/data ) and it contains ".com.android." files of an app, which I believe are downloaded folders by that app.So for an example ,if I have Angry Birds installed, angrybirds.apk will be available in /root/data/app and ".com.android.rovio.angrybirds" will be available in /root/data/user/data/data.Since I couldn't find ANY app that is specifically made to move app to INTERNAL mass storage,I tried moving these two parts of an app (.apk and ".com.android..") to internal mass storage ( named as "sd" on x-plore ).But,as expected the app I moved tho the mass storage was "installed on sd card" as android would specify when I'd try to run it.Note:I moved it to a random directory on internal mass storage. When I moved the files back to their original paths, since they wouldn't work on mass storage, they worked properly again.
So any way I count kind of mount those two parts I mentioned of an app as one,so Android would recognize it as a whole app when I move those files on internal mass storage.Or is there some other way to move them to mass storage?Or to make apps automatically install on internal mass storage?
I really don't want to buy a SD card since I've read multiple articles that apps don't run best from SD cards.Once again,I repeat , I wan't to move them to INTERNAL mass storage which is around 11.50 GB of space, because my internal(system) memory is like 1/1,97 GB used.
I dropped my Gnex for the thousandth time, exceot this time my screen decided to not turn on... since my phone doesn't have an sd card all my data is locked in there. My touch screen doesn't work so i cant just try to wing it from memory, so now I'm wondering if there is some magical way i can turn on mass storage vie my PC, unless there's another way to get my stuff off my phone.
I have a problem with the mass storage Usb fuction on my huawei U8185 (phone does not detect SD card after unpluggin USB cable). I have another stock Rom free from this problem, I want to copy files which correlated with this function on my actual rom, but I don't know which files to replace with the ones from the stock rom.
1) I have imito mx1 android TV stick with built in Bluetooth. When I pair it with my PS3 controller via sixaxis app, it does with no problem, but I noticed that the connection is very weak because if I go away from the TV stick more than about 3 meters, the connection will lost.
So my question If I get a Bluetooth dongle USB for better signaling, can I use it for pairing with the PS3 controller in sixaxis app rather than pairing with the built in Bluetooth?
2)Corresponding to the DirectoryBind app, can I use it to transfer data from SD to a USB MASS STORAGE rather than ext-SD?
I have a Galaxy SII i777 4.1.2, rooted. Things were going ok after the factory reset, but I noticed that the battery was taking forever to charge and was draining extremely fast. I don't know if the fact that the telephone was running my data manager, data usage defender, battery doctor, watchdog and memory booster for one day has anything to do with this (although the battery drainage and high consumption of data was before I installed those apps and it was the reason why I did installed them this time). But today (hours after I uninstalled battery doctor, data usage defender and memory booster) the battery got quickly drained and the phone seemed dead (it didn't want to turn on and i couldn't see the icon indicating it was charging when connected). So, I inserted my sister's battery, took it out, and put my battery again. This time the phone turned on, BUT I see a message saying "enter password to use encrypted device storage." I only use four passwords for all my accounts but none of them work. I have tried different wrong passwords (as recommended) like 30 times, and nothing happens. I read somewhere that I could start ODIN, which I'm not knowledgeable of. But I don't know what to do. I pressed the power button and the volume keys, and all is showing is a green man icon and a "Downloading" message. It's been like an hour already and it keeps "downloading."
I don't remember having encrypted my phone. And if I did, I could have only used one of my four passwords.
i Have SE Arc S and i try to install Jelly Android 4.1.2 , i make all steps and at final Step install from SD card it;s failed ,so when i reboot mobile it hanged at Sony Errcsson Logo i try to press on Volume down or back Button nothing happened can't enter to recover mode.
My mom's LGC800 is stuck in LG boot screen, is there any possible way to enter fastboot mode in the LGC800? I tried the adb command "adb reboot bootloader" it reboots and gets stuck again in LG boot screen..
I have a motorola motostart (xt390) and wish to unlock bootloader, root, etc. Nevertless, I just can't get into fastboot mode. Powering up with VOL Down it access the recovery mode. The same for VOL UP+DOWN. When i try powering up with VOL UP pressed the device simply don't power up.
Is it a malfunctioning device or some roms for this hardware simply have mysteriuos ways to enter fastboot?
The ROM is a brazilian retail, Gingerbread (2.3.6) version MAUI.11AMD.W11.37.SP.V9.F4.P1, build: ARGONM_W_07.15.04R_D.
I just got a brand new Samsung SGH-i727 that I cannot get into Debug mode, which means that I'm bored with it already! I want to ROOT!! I can navigate to the setting, select the check box, and it remains checked, however, it won't indicate Debugging mode ( in the status bar, with the pop-up or otherwise when connected to the PC), and I cannot access ADB to root it! I am at a loss. I have scoured the forums, deleted and re-installed the drivers, deleted and allowed the device to re-install the drivers, used different USB cables, including the original, and a decent aftermarket, used different USB ports, used different PCs, (Two Win 7's, and one WinXP, all to no avail. I am upgrading from a Cappy, that was rooted on this machine, but for some reason, the 727 just doesn't want to work!
Following different tutorials on how to root my device, they all begin with instructing me to enter "download mode." They all seem to say that I need to press Power+Volume Down+Home and, when the warning screen appears, press Volume Up. Well, I hold down Power+Volume Down+Home (I check a video to make extra sure I was holding down the correct buttons) and all that the device ever does is continually display the initial splash screen, the reboot again. If I let go, the device goes into "manual mode" in which it prompts to reboot, update the device or factory reset it. Am I missing something?
i am not able enter flash mode in my X10i device i wanted to flash kernel.
I followed all the procedure: 1) by holding back button & plugged in USB cable. 2) my phone got recognized in the flash tool. Got a message stating "Device connected in flash mode" 3) then my device did not stay much longer in flash mode (less then 10 sec). After that it automatically booted to phone charging screen.
below is log generated in flash tool, when i tried to flash the kernel:
