my phone got into restarting loop and i know that is bcs i messed up with build.prop file.I can acces recover but cant manage to turn on the phone. My question is,is there any way to access /system without booting up phone?I saw "mount /system" option in recovery but it doesnt really do anything for me.I can also access flash and fastboot mode,so there must be a way to access /system?
I have a problem with my Xperia U (on rooted 6.1.1.B.1.54).Yesterday I accidentally removed downloadprovider.apk and downloadproviderUI.apk ... and I couldn't use googleplay anymore...
So I tried to get these apps in the folder again.. but they weren't "installed" And I accidentally changed my system/app folder's permissions to something bad. I had to remove the battery but now the phone does not start. There is a logo loop... What can I do?
I was trying to create more space. I saw the apps folder and moved it to somewhere else. Then my phone started crashing, so i turned it off. When i turned it back on i got a bootloop. My phone is rooted and i have an alacatel one touch 983. It keeps showing the o2 logo. I think this is because there is no launcher.
I have installed ADB and the whole Android SDK to root my asus transformer infinity (tf700t). I have taken all the steps every forum on the web describes: installing everything trough the manager, adjusting the path in the System Variables, and finally it getting it to work together with my tablet. However, when I try to flash/copy/install files from my folder (yes these files are in the same folder as adb.exe and fastboot.exe, which is the folder I used in the System Variables) It can't either find these files or it cannot open these files. When i put in the command 'path' however. I does give me the path where the files can be found.
My HTC Desire VC (T328d) was rooted and running Android OS 4.0.3 (ics).
In recovery mode, I accidentally formatted /system folder (from internal phone memory). This is because the recovery mode is all in chinese language and I did a huge mistake. The phone cannot boot showing HTC logo screen and no boot sound.
I've downloaded the kernel for this device at htcdev.com.I can enter recovery mode. My friend has the same device and his is not rooted yet.
I have htc wildfire.. Really enjoying it.. I ned to copy ringtones to the system folder, but sinceit is read only I am not able to do so.. Is there any possibility to change the properties of the system folder or some other means so that I can set notifications, alarms by default method..
Been using CM6 for a week or so and wanted to free up some space in my system folder. Is there anything I can remove then reinstall and have it reinstall elsewhere? Or is there anything I can completely delete from my system folder?
I was using Astro and i found the folder on the Hero that has all the boot images, sounds, and animations. i was trying to create my own custom animations and put them in there to replace the others. Well when i try to copy the files into the folder it says i have insufficient permission so i was wondering if anyone knew of a way around that without rooting or something like that!
I can't seem to be able to re-name files in my /system folder. I am tring to do this in Root Manager and it is telling me that the permissions are set to read only... however if I try to set the permissions in Root Manager it tells me I can't do that...
Have similar threads >(URL>...)I am looking for an alternative to GO launcher.I have not upgraded my GO launcher since 3.11 due to bloatware.I would like to ask is there any launcher that allows custom sorting of apps inside the folder? For e.g i have created a folder called Games in the app drawer and would like to custom the games sort them instead alphabetical order.
I downloaded the bootanimation.zip for the droid 2 and all instructions and tips say: If your rooted it's as easy as putting it in the /data/local folder!
Well there is a /data folder on my Nexus and it's empty. If I try to make a new folder it says "cannot create new folder" in File Explorer that came with CM6.1. Astro greys out the create folder button. What am I missing? Also I saw that you can ADB push it. WTF does that mean? I know how to do some fastboot stuff, is it the same? Reboot the phone with the USB connected and run commands on my PC?
I am trying to do the custom icons but i cannot find the folder "dcim". I downloaded Astro and when i click on the SDcard i only see (albums, download, logs, LOST.DIR, Playlist, tmp). not sure what to do.
I am trying to play a video in android emulator I have the video in my assets folder as well as the raw folder. But after doing some research still i cant play video in my emulator.i am working on android 2.1 My video format is mp4 so i don't think that should be a problem.Could anyone just give me an example code so that i can understand a bit more? The problem is that the VideoView that I need to display the Video will take only a URI or a File path to point to the Video. If I save the video in the raw or assets folder I can only get an input stream or a file descriptor and it seems nothing of that can be used to initialize the VideoView.
I am working on some a application where I have to update some files present in assets / raw folder runtime from some http location. Can anyone help me to by sharing how to write files in assets or raw folder programmatically?
I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
I created two new folders in the home, then attempted to "drag" one folder into the other.. but it wont let me... is it possible? also, when creating a folder in the home, i tried using astro file manager to find that folder I made but couldn't find it... where is it? or is there another way to create a folder in the SD card?
How do I get my custom ringtones from rooted media folder to show up in selection menus?
I am rooted and have successfully copied .ogg .wav or .mp3 ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones, notifications or alarms folders. I can even play them from those folders on press.
My hassle is I am not able to select these as my tones. They don't show up in the menus. I want them in the root because if I am connected to my pc and an email/text/call comes in that is assigned a Custom tone on sd, then my tones revert back to a default tone and I have to reset them all when i disconnect from pc
