General :: Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS 4.0.3 - Not All Contacts Update After Sync With Gmail
Aug 23, 2012
I'm using Galaxy S2, running ICS 4.0.3
I have lots of funny contact names because of the SKYPE nicknames. Also, some contacts are made from email handlers.
So to organize them nicely, I spent last few hours on my Gmail / Contact account, renaming, adding photos, merging etc... Except, that when I want to SYNC it. Not all of the contacts update, and some remain as they were.
I would trash them all and import new set from Gmail, but I'm worry that when I do that, it might trash my gmail contact as well
Also, is there any way to change the contact font size? I have many long names, and lots of contacts. The screen cuts most of the names off and many of the contacts share same name. I have to open the contact, to find out details in order to know who I'm looking for.
i switched from iphone to the galaxy s recently. my contacts used to be saved in my sim card that i transferred over to the new phone. However, i am not able to find an option to sync these existing contacts with my gmail. anyone can tell me how to do that please? Any new contacts that i create in galaxy s can be synced with gmail. i just can't sync the existing ones.
I have noticed that my phone syncs all the contacts that i have on gmail, that is every person that i have sent a email and my contacts. I just want to have my contacts synced there, not more than that ( besides twitter/fb which syncs ok).
My phone is setup to the corporate network (activesync). So I have all my contacts & calendar in the corporate side. I thought this would also sync up to Gmail, but so far, my gmail contacts and calendar are blank. Any suggestions on how to sync my contacts to gmail?
Everytime I sync my Gmail contacts to this phone they cause them to disappear off my main gmail account. I've done restore, but then once my phone access the contact list again they are gone. I did not realize this after the first restore and now it's been too long (gmail only allows 29 days to restore) since I last restored to see any of the 100's of contacts I manually entered into Gmail!
Our organisation just changed from ADSL to Fibre Optic cable, and as a result we all had reconnect our devices to the exchange server. As a result, not all my outlook contacts come down from the MS exchange server. I can see them in 'Contacts' in Outlook on my Mac, I can see them in 'Contacts' in the remote desktop, but they are not visible on my phone.
Emails sync down fine, as well as 95% of my contacts.
This will allow you to access your Gmail contacts from a tablet just like you're use to on your PC.
Login to your gmail account using your tablet's browser. Open up a new tab and type in the [URL] ....
I have no idea why this is not integrated into Android's version of Gmail or why it is not a selectable option like Calendar, or why there isn't support on this when you do a search, so that's why I'm posting this.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and I've done this on the Ipad as well.
I've checked my phone's sync settings, synced several times, logged in and out of Gmail online to see if anything has been updated. No such luck. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.
As a new user, I had difficulty negotiating this site and finding the best place to post this. There is not an LG Optimus L9 Forum so, if there is a location where this post might encourage more visibility.
why my S4 is deleting all my contacts from it. I have my contacts synced with my gmail contacts and this has been the case for years. I had a Samsung Infuse before this and have never had a problem. I've had the S4 for about 3 weeks now and this hasn't happened until yesterday. And since yesterday it has happened 3x's. At first I thought it was a Trulia app (realestate app) that I was using to try to call some realtors. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but the first 2 times I was on the app and my contacts disappeared. How I recovered them was through the contacts recovery feature on Gmail. I would be SOL if I were out and needed to call someone on my contacts list immediately and without access to my laptop.
I have sync turned on, and have selected contacts and phone. I can access the gmail account from my phone and my PC. When I press the sync button on the phone, the green arrows spin and it syncs.......or so it says. But when I go to my gmail account on my PC, and go to "Contacts", it says there aren't any.
I have been using gmail extensively for the last 3 years. I have tons of contacts in many different groups on my account. If I select the gmail account on my galaxy it does not recognize the groups and it throws all my contacts into one group with the name of my gmail account. Is there a way (an application) to fix this?
I had a Motorolla SLVR L7, now I've got my Galaxy S Captivate.I was able to get my contacts from the L7 onto the sim, and the Captivate seems to be reading the sim contacts just fine.I then imported from my Sim card onto my Captivate's internal memory.I had assumed that this would allow me to sync up those contacts into my Gmail, so that I can do manual backups and have a keyboard/mouse to manage them.Except they aren't being loaded into my gmail.
I thought my SGs would sync to my Gmail contacts over the air without doing data transferring over PC with a cable. But this does not happen, as I refresh the sync manually, it says it has synced but obviously the contacts list in my phone and Gmail at the web are totally irrelevant. For example I merged some contacts in Gmail contacts but this does not show up in the phone even though it shows to be syncing over the air. Maybe a simple issue to handle but I would appreciate the help very much as a new transfer to Android from Symbian...
My contacts have all been duplicated 10-15 times each.Account sync is off, though I did sync facebook, google + last.fm when I first got the phone - a few required linking. Not sure how to re-sync contacts, has anyone else had this problem?
I have two accounts, exchange and gmail. All the contacts I care about are in gmail.I also set up my exchange to sync contacts.900 of my contacts are now in the 'corporate' group in contacts on my Galaxy. This means changing those doesn't sync to google.com/contacts and vice versa
question 1: Any way to move all those contacts over to gmail group so they sync?
Removed facebook app and facebook account from Settings-Account and Syng...rebooted phone. - Enabled Wifi - Went to Settings-Account and Sync. - Added facebook account again with SNS settings (syns interval) set to once a day. - Made sure I saw the two arrows in the white cirkel spinning around indicating sync. - Held my finger down to the home screen for 2 seconds to add a Android widget - Power control. - Enabled Sync (the two arrows in the white cirkel spinning around indicating sync) - Went to Contacts. - Pressed Menu - Get Friends - Next screen showed me my facebook account- Pressed it - NOW I saw ALL my facebook contacts on my screen! - Clicked CHOOSE ALL and then syn/save - Checked in Contacts - Menu - Display Options,. that my Facebook account was checkmarked!
I'm using the email app that came installed on my AT&T Captivate to check my gmail and Exchange email but I also setup the gmail app in order to sync with my gmail contacts and calendar. I now get my gmail in both apps, is there a way to stop the gmail from retrieving my email without affecting sync with contacts and calendar?
Can I stop the gmail app from running all the time if so how? everytime i check task killer i have both email apps running.
I set up a gmail account on my moms razr the other day after trying to tell her it was better than yahoo. How do I get the contacts that are already synced into her phone to sync with her gmail account?
'Sync' is switched on on my phone so I don't know why I need to manually upload my phone contacts from my SD card then attach them & email them to my google account.I just tried to attach phone contacts from SD card to a Gmail to send to my gmail account then log into my PC & import that file into my gmail account from there, but it will only let me attach photos So I tried emailing as an attachment from phone using my yahoo account. That does allow me to attach contacts but it sits there without actually attaching them !I just found I need to tick all contacts to get to attach. So I have to check 200 ticks as there's no check all option !So one by one I tick all & gets sent as 200 attachments in an email. So then download to PC hard drive. Then in Gmail import contacts I have to browse for vCard files. However I can't select all so have to manually browse for each vCard file then import one at a time. There's no option in contacts to select a contact then 'Star in android'.I presume if somethings starred in Android then the sync between phone contacts & gmail should work properly. Even then if you add new contact to phone there's no option in the phone to star it. Code...
I was composing a message and the phone got stuck when I was about to select the recipients. (Wanted to group send message so that's why I was not answering directly.) After waiting for a while the phone was still not responding then I forced to shut down and turned it on again. Okay I again edited the same text and tap to choose receivers. Good grief! NO CONTACTS! EMPTY! Why? What happened?
I first tried to sync Gmail contacts back to my Sony Xperia, however when I logged in to Gmail and it was the same! NO CONTACTS!
Long story short, I finally found Myjad Android Contact Recovery which seems to be useful because I want simply the contacts. So any example of trying successfully restoring lost contacts with this program?
When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.
I have a Galaxy S4 and I synced all my contacts from Facebook with that of my phone. My idiotic sister logged out of my account without my permission, logged into hers and left it like that. Now my facebook account wont sync with my phone contacts again. Everytime i go to my contacts, tap on options and go to 'accounts' and select my facebook from the list of accounts i've added, the 'sync now' button works but when I click on it it says 'sync disabled'.
I went onto my FB app and looked for account sync options but I couldnt find any.
The heading pretty much says it all. I've been searching and can only find people with Hero's saying there is an option in People - Groups, then press menu, and you should be able to select what groups to sync. But I don't have this option. (Though I did here one Hero owner saying his option wasn't there at first.) Strangely, I even have more contacts than my Gmail "all contacts". Somehow I have some duplicates or fragments, I don't know. how to leave out syncing All Contacts?
