Got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus that I continually use for Wifi Tethering. The only problem is that it tends to run hot and sometimes reboot since it's continually being used. Is there a way I can fix it with an app? Or is there a cooling dock I can use (like Laptops use)?

I've had a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for just over a year. A few weeks ago, I updated to Android 4.2.2 whilst visiting my parent's house and it started continually rebooting itself. I did a factory reset (or two) before figuring out that it's entirely down to the WiFi. If I get in quick enough and don't allow it to connect, the problem stops, and it only occurs with the WiFi at my parent's house (though it always worked fine before the update). I've tried unplugging the WiFi repeater, which was a relatively new addition to the house, but it hasn't made a difference.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had a Galaxy Tab for 2 years, and used it, very successfully, as a wifi hotspot from May until July this year, when my laptop was suddenly not able to connect to the internet via the hotspot. It connected just fine to the Tab, and has no problems on my home wifi. The Tab was still able to connect to the internet normally, with no apparent problems.
I fiddled about a bit and thought perhaps it was a hardware problem, so bought a seconhand Nexus S. That has been working fine until yesterday, when the exact same thing has happened - the laptop can connect fine to the Nexus, but says there is no internet connection. The Nexus itself is connecting just fine.
I'm in the UK - my carrier is Three (Hutchinson).
Has anyone got this to work on 2.2 (non-rooted) without the usb cable. Am I missing something? It has been greyed out for me.

How can I set my Galaxy Nexus to prefer WiFi for data over the Mobile Network? I have to go to settings, turn off "enable data access over mobile network," then cycle WiFi on-off several times before the phone will connect to my home router. Router has two channels, both a WPA2 encrypted one, and a "home guest" (open) one. Both show up as disabled until I cycle the WiFi off and on several times. There must be a setting to tell the phone to prefer WiFi -- no?

1. I installed wifi tethering. The app seems to work and it indicates my laptop connected. My laptop wifi icon indicated connected but I can't get any internet on explorer. Is there something I miss?
2. I also heard that install USB driver from this forum will do the trick but I can't get it to work? Do I have to install Kies on my laptop?
3. I have a paid version of PDAnet but can't set it up.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my captivate and downloaded Barnacle, both the legacy and the beta version and both are discoverable from my laptop and ipod touch but none of them can actually connect, I went through all the settings and played around to no avail. I then tried "wireless tether" app which I can't seem to find in appbrain to link but the icon is the WiFi signal strength bar in green if that helps, the only thing this app does is say wi-fi tethering is on but the device doesn't show up at all. My question is are there ANY wifi tethering apps that are currently compatible with a rooted Captivate?

To access this secure webpage we were given two certificates, one for windows (home use) and one for mobile ( a .p12 file which I've read is compatible). I cannot access the webpage via Android browser or chrome browser (or any other 3rd party browser). I've imported the certificate using the import feature in Settings->Security and it showed a brief notification that the import was successful. However, the certificate isn't listed in the "User" section of the trusted credentials list. Now, I would suspect that the certificate wasn't made correctly, but the same exact one works on a co-workers iPhone (pains me to say that). I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, rooted, but otherwise stock.

I have always been able to play music by putting the actual songs in the music folder.
I thought maybe if I used the function that puts the songs on the phone I would be able to search them up that way, but no dice.
Any workaround or a way that I can use the music off of the new streaming service in my car?
I have a very big problem with my samsung galaxy nexus. It started 2 weeks ago when I tried to turn ON my phone, and it randomly can't Load the system (Jelly Bean 4.2.2). When I try to Turn it ON, the Nexus Picture stock up (the green red blue yellow moving image suddenly stop) and then a MATRIX like will appear on the screen (sometimes around the nexus image there will be green lines and dots. And sometimes the whole screen will have green pixels/Dots). I thought that the system is damaged, after many trials of recovering the system, I Decided to do a factory reformat/ return to factory settings.
Since I can't access the system, I unlocked the phone , installed teamwin recovery system, and did a wipe of all the things inside the internal memory (that was the most stupid decision ever) since I lost the backup system image inside the internal sd card.
I decided all of that all because that the Galaxy Nexus don't have a external SD CARD. And since I can't do a recovery of my files (because I need to be inside Android to have a DB connection to the phone). I had no option than to wipe all System, Dalvik, Cache, and Data. Now I can't flash any android system since the Clockwork and teamwin need the android image to be inside the SD CARD. And I can't send/receive any file from/to the SD card. I already tried "Nexus Root Toolkit" and "Galaxy Nexus Toolkit".
One good thing is I did install an "ICE CREAM SANDWICH image" using "Odin" (Since that was the only image I found in the internet that can be installed using Odin, but there is no luck also, when the animation is loading, the animation suddenly stop and the phone restarts.
I recently rooted my Nexus 4 using the Nexus Root Toolkit and now i've noticed that I can not tether my phone to my laptop. Before rooting, USB tethering worked without a problem. My Nexus 4 is on the T-Mobile 3GB Simple Choice plan -3gb data and tethering.

I can pair my phone and tablet up just fine and do a bluetooth tether with no issues I use it with Spotify while in the car daily. Other apps and Chrome work fine I can do pretty much whatever using the tether.
But when I try to send a txt with GV from the tablet it just says Queued and never ever sends.

I see in research people talk about Wifi Tether and FoxFi. There is also a Bluetooth option I have read about.
The complaint is the upgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.2 caused the Bluetooth method to fail with no fix. Claims said it still works with 4.1.2.
The problems seemed to be related to cross versioning of the phone and tablet.
