It is extremely important that I back up my SMS messages but it seems that my phone is starting to work incorrectly and I'm afraid I'll lose them. I was wondering what is a fool proof safe way to back them up in case anything happens to my phone, and I'll be able to restore them to another phone. I want to get an iPhone, but if it's not possible to switch android messages to an iphone, ill get another android. These messages are important. I have thousands of messages that I never deleted from one of my friends who past away last year and it is extremely important that I save them...
Anyone else had abny issues with the back up restore function? I tried to do a software update, to which something seems to have happened. All i can see for the time being is an update to the virtual keyboard. Anyway, lost apps, contacts etc, so went into the menu on the handset and selected back up, restore. Restored numbers etc to phone book and over 150 number details are missing. The back up utility doesn't seem to have backed up all my numbers. Also, any personal photo's of callers etc have either vanished or the photo's are now against the wrong people. So much for this back up service, it's going to take hours, if not days to try to get the phone back tot he way it was!
After being impatient for months, i decided today to root my phone using unrevoked. I am not running any custom roms, but I do have root access. Of course 5 minutes later, I saw the post that Froyo will be OTA tomorrow... Will I receive the OTA? If not, what steps do i need to do to restore this back so that I receive it?
So i removed alot of bloatware with Android Mate, but I didn't back up anything. Not that my phone doesn't behave, but is it possible to get all these apps back? Maybe get my phone back to factory state if I want to? No, I didn't make a backup file. I now, stupid of me. But if anyone else did, in theory shouldn't it be possible for me just to download that file and then "restore" the phone back to factory state?
For some reason my phone does not vibrate for incoming text messages anymore and I have all the settings on. I cannot figure it out. Spent a lot of time. I want to restore it and then if that does not do it I am going to return it for a new one.
So I just got my vibrant but now for some reason the movie that comes on here tells me file not found when I tap on the icon. Also the samsung kies app tells me it cannot connect to the model information server. Is there any way to restore the movie back?
It seems a lot of us are having issues after upping to 2.2. Someone suggested hard reset. My question is simple, will hard reset "restore" EVO back to factory settings, AKA 2.1? I mean when you bought the phone, 2.1 is "baked" in the internal memory. When you update to 2.2, will 2.2 also be "baked" in internal memory so that whenever you hard reset you will always go to 2.2 status? I think it is, but please clarify?
I have a Nabi 2 that was rooted almost a year ago to gain access to the Google Play store. My needs have changed since then and I wanted to restore it to factory settings.
If I boot normally the Nabi is stuck here:
I have managed to get it to boot to TRWP by pressing the power and + keys. I see this:
There are no images to "restore" under the restore tab. This is what I see:
provide me with a kernel file or some tips on how to restore the machine to it's 'out-of-the-box' configuration. I want to donate this device to a young child and need to get it back into a kid friendly mode.
Today I tried to restore my phone back to stock ROM and as I was trying to get into recovery mode and complete a nand restore but it wouldn't let me get in. It would just reboot me back into bootloader. I tried updating my superboot and recovery image to 1.7 and it's just stuck at the loading screen now. Is there anyway to restore it?
Brand new droid and incredible owner switching from a blackberry. I was playing around today with my new phone and I accidentally deleted the "favorites" widget. How do I restore the "favorite" widget to my homescreen? I want it to take up the whole screen not just the small shortcut.
I've rooted my device, and there are some things I don't like about it, I'm also running a 'hacked' 2.2 not the ota one, basically I want everything back to normal so including the os. How do I do this?
I have tried to backup my phone multiple ways and I have not had any luck. I manually rooted my phone, using the steps on this webpage: [GUIDE] How To Root The Sprint CDMA Hero (Windows) - xda-developers
Manual Root Backup When I tried the step 19 reboot recovery my phone just reboots to an HTC splash screen.
I also tried to use the clockwork mod market app to make a backup as see on this page [Complete Guide] How To Fully Back Up And Restore Your Android Phone Using Nandroid Backup | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Hacks, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police
I click flash clockwork mod recovery it auto senses my phone cdma htc hero. I click on the hero, and nothing happens, I never receive a successfully flashed.
PREKITCHEN Last I tried to perform a backup using prekitchen the diagnostic showed I am green in all areas I click on the nandroid backup and it reboots my phone and brings up a HTC splash screen.
basically I have to pull out the battery to get phone functionality back. I have read else where that I can hold volume down and power to bring up a recovery mod (this works) but I am not sure what to do when I get there.
I'm so angry it's hard for me to even type. I upgraded my X10 mini pro to Android 2.1 today and I followed the instructions and the YouTube video EXACTLY step by step.I made a back-up before the update, with the updated Back-up & restore app.Now the Android update is done and i've tried and tried but I can't get my contacts back. Every time I run the restore function of Back-up & restore it tells me the restore is done, but when I go to my contacts list, it's empty.
I have just performed a update as requested when I connected my phone to pc, and when I restarted phone it has iped everything. contacts, text messages, all links to my twitter and facebook. can someone tell me how sony ericsson will restore phone back to its pre update settings as I have some very important numbers I have now lost which I need access to desperately
I did it last night, seemed to work fine, but I noticed something today. Under settings, applications, USB settings, there is an option for PC Internet that wasnt there originally. When I try to go to software update, it says Communication Failed. Unable to connect to ATT servers.
Coincidence that this started now, or is there something wrong? I reset the phone twice, and reloaded Odin twice. Everything else seems to work fine.
My question is about restoring complex activity related data when coming back to the activity using the "back" button". Activity A has a ListView which is connected to Array Adapter serving as its data source - this happens in on Create(). By default, if I move to activity B and press "back" to get back to activity A, does my list stay intact with all the data or do I just get visual "copy" of the screen but the data is lost? What can I do when more than activities are involved? Let's say activity A starts activity B which starts activity C and then I press "back" twice to get to A. How do I ensure the integrity of the A's data when it gets back to the foreground? Prefs Manager does not seem to handle complex object very intuitively.
I was trying to root my samsng behold 2 earlier today using the command codes on theunlockr.com. I thought everything was going well as I went all the way to the last step where it rebooted my behold 2. Problem is, the phone kinda just turned off after doing the reboot command and didn't turn back on by itself (I gave it like 10 minutes). I eventually then just turned on the phone manually and noticed that everything was super laggy. Even when I used taskkiller to kill every task minus GDE, it said I only had 38MB ram available. I rebooted my phone a few times and it was laggy everytime so I decided to do a hard reset. The problem is that when I attempted the hard-reset, it will now get stuck on the samsung screen when trying to load up (stayed there for over 30 minutes). I can still enter the phone if I just start it up regularly without trying to hard-reset, but it will continue to be VERY laggy.
Is there anything I can do to restore this phone back to its original state? I was reading about using ODIN to flash it or something, but for some reason my computer doesn't detect my phone when I go into Download mode on startup (it does however detect the usb drivers on my phone once the phone officially startsup into its homepage).
When i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.
Today the rom bug bit me and I tried about 3 or 4 different roms (after TIbackup and nand backup of course) including xtrROM and ELB, hated them all, and decided to go back to my beloved sense-able 3.1 nand backup. wiped, restored, and now all my market links are gone. (except for gmaps, for some reason). TIbackup refuses to even install again from the market because the package signature is incorrect, or something. TIb said it was supposed to restore market links.any suggestions? is there even any way to restore a market link besides just reinstalling the program outright? I found this thread http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/81290-market-does-not-see-all-my-downloads-after-nandroid-restore.html as reference. All my programs will show as "installed" if I search them in market.either way, sense-able was definitely the sexiest-out of the box ROM I tried. everything else without sense was just ugh, looked like I'd loaded up a G1. couldn't tell a speed difference at all with the same setCPU profile, and xtrROM was so bad on battery I only made it through few hours before uninstalling. I cannot live with the sense keyboard and search-dialer.
I Installed Smoked Glass V5.0 from V4.5. I ended up doing it twice, and to make a long story short I lost my files in AK Notebook. Here's my question: 1. Should I backup my current configuration 2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade 3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac 4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now? Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.
