General :: Galaxy S2 Auto Firmware Update Failing

Feb 28, 2012

My Galaxy S2 is currently running this firmware with Android 2.3.4:

GT-I9100_XEN_I9100CEKI2_I9100XENKH1_I9100XXKI1
CSC = XEN

I get told that there is an update waiting in OTA , so I let it download, reboots, starts to install, then fails, reboots, tells me to try via KIES or contact Samsung. But when I go into Kies... there is no button to let me update my firmware... it just tells me my current firmware version, nothing else like it usually would...

Not custom ROM, no root, battery 100%. Wifi/HSPA makes no difference..My friend has the same phone with the same firmware and it works fine with him?

General :: Galaxy S II - Rooting And Installing Cyanogenmod

Aug 30, 2012

I have had my Galaxy S II for about a year now, and i am thinking about rooting it and installing Cyanogenmod on it, but i need some info about the proccess: First of all: What happens when you root your phone? Is you data/apps deleted or is it safe?

Second: What about when i flash Cyanogenmod? Is my data/apps safe there or do i need to redownload the apps and backup my stuff?

Third: If i root my phone and do not flash a new ROM, will it be just as hard for me to update the firmware as on a jailbroken iOS device?

And lastly: I have heard about Titanium Backup, what does it backup? The OS, the apps and/or the data? These are the questions i need answered before starting the rooting process.

General :: Rooting Galaxy Tab P1000L With Gingerbread 2.3.6

Apr 26, 2012

I have the Galaxy Tab P1000L

I been trying to root it with Superoneclick and with DoomLord Zergrush, I keep failing all attempts, as I did research on this, I found out some info that says it is not possibe to root Gingerbread 2.3.6 (what I have) and that I need to dowgrade to 2.3.5 or to froyo (which is it?) , but SamMobile does not have Froyo available for download anymore...

So basically, I need to know how to root 2.3.6, main reason is I want to be able to change my Tab's HotSpot channel, and I read that this is only possible on a rooted GTab.

( Secondary question: On a quick note, is it possible to upgrade to HoneyComb/is it worth it?)

General :: Galaxy S3 Modified Status Coming Even Without Rooting Ever?

Nov 26, 2012

If u still don't understand what I am trying to ask here is the full story

Brother I am on stock jellybean I have never rooted never flashed my device it says this after the official jellybean 310 mb update and I have already has a fight with Samsung over this 5 months back approx whenever I got the phone it so happens that this piece is a replaced one the previous one I had had problems with it so I got it replaces and as soon I got it replaced and opened it (it came sealed like a new one) sir I let the Samsung care guy update the firmware via Odin and I never saw what the status was when it came so I had a fight with Samsung I said they gave me a modded phone out of the box and they're fuse to accept saying that the piece was new and whatever happened just have been done by me... They refused me another replacement and since then the status of my device fluctuates between modified and normal once every few boots.. But it never gave me this dialog saying that my device is modified and I will not be able to update ..

In download mode
It said custom binary downloads no
Current binary Samsung official
Custom binary downloads no.
Current status custom

And in kyu phone setting.also ur is said status as custom Why is this so I have never modified my device nor rooted The above is one half of my story the other half is when.I open download.mode.it says

#manuak mode #
Apply multi csc
Applied csc code INU
Successfully applied multi csc

And when I try to check software upte via settings it shows this

So what he he'll is wrong with ny device i only ran the official update... Will I get warranty I have never hacked nor modded And this screen which I am getting in download mode is bit the normal one

General :: How To Shut Off Auto Apps Without Rooting - Galaxy Note

Feb 24, 2012

I've been through pages of forum posts about shutting off automatically updating aps and almost all seem to suggest rooting. I know nothing about such things and really don't feel like risking my phone, new Galaxy Note, to my ineptitude. I've read and re-read the manual too. Yes, I'm sure the answer is probably on here but I couldn't find it, or maybe it went over my head. The problem is I've been watching my data usage and tracked down the extraordinary usage to a slew of aps, all undeleteable and pre-installed by AT&T/Google. I don't want to delete the programs because I may want them at some point, but they're running and updating in the background and using megs. I shut them off within a setting menu and many of them came back later. Most of these aps are things I never even opened. Is there any way to keep these aps from running until *I* want them to?

General :: Error When Rooting Samsung Galaxy Y Pro GT-B5510 - Installation Aborted

Aug 18, 2013

I've tried to root my Samsung Galaxy Y Pro GT-B5510 using a number of different update.zip files recommended on various sites and forums, but I always encounter the same problem.

The instructions are the same everywhere, and I follow them to the letter: I transfer the file into the root directory of my SD card via USB cable, then disconnect and switch off my phone. I then get into recovery mode (after several attempts) using the Volume-Up, Home and Power buttons. I press Volume-Down to navigate the red menu and then Home to select "apply update from sdcard". I select update.zip, and a stream of cyan text rushes up my screen until it hits a snag...

The red menu reappears, followed by cyan text reading:

.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Although the previous mountain of text rushes up the screen too fast to read, I am sometimes able to catch a glimpse of what seems to be the main indicator of the problem:

Error in tmp/sideload/package.zip

As I said, this happens with multiple versions of update.zip that I've found. What could be causing it?

General :: Browser Sync Failing

Mar 17, 2012

As of about a week ago the browser sync on my device has been failing. I am running ICS via the latest CM9 nightly on my Samsung Galaxy S II (i9100T).

Chrome Beta bookmarks sync fine, it's only the builtin browser that is failing to sync. I would use Chrome Beta if I could but it's so damn crash-happy that it's unusable (I assume it's a CM compatibility problem that isn't resolved yet). Here is the relevant log entries from a failed browser sync attempt:

I/BookmarksSync( 5112): Sync failed due to soft error: Reader: Protocol (soft) error: Truncating server changelist after 260 items, as the changelist contains more than one entry with a given remote id: Z:ADqtAZy+M2N65xx6fxN82TxDitLVtIkXCgmtSFp8W2tkH0Ck Jn0/Jcg8vDEWpzXibMIJcCZ0FdLOu2YpKahtQz5TqasLlCiDZDhnES Z7grZisodhrY++D+I=

D/SyncManager( 1840): failed sync operation raptorfactor@raptorfactor.com (com.google), com.android.browser, PERIODIC, earliestRunTime 698024, SyncResult: stats [ numIoExceptions: 1 numEntries: 260]

Basically it's just that over and over again. I've tried clearing the data in the browser app settings then resyncing, and I have also confirmed that on my PC my settings are set to encrypt passwords only (as a google search revealed some people had issues when encrypting everything).I'm a heavy user of my device and being unable to access my bookmarks is quite frustrating.
