I've been trying to organize the phone numbers in my address book so that:The phone calls I receive show the contact name (and not only the number).
The SMS messages I receive show the contact name (and not only the number).Android is able to join the WhatsApp contact with the main contact based on the phone number.
I live in Brazil and the phone numbers have a few particularities: you can include the country code or not (55), you can include the city code or not (which is usually prepended with a 0), you can include the phone carrier code or not, etc. So matching those numbers is not a trivial problem.
I have the impression that Android has an internal logic for dealing with this issue. But it's not working particularly well for me. If this logic is configurable? The issues I'm having right now are:The numbers shown in the SMS messages don't have a consistent pattern:
Basically, i use my personal cell phone for work and personal use, i have multiple exchange accts that keep things sorted and seperated.
recently though i have been getting more and more business calls to my cell phone, during and outside of normal business hours.
what im looking for is an app that will take a selective group of contacts/phone numbers/CID strings and if it is a "business" call then forward it to a specific phone number (external number, the actual business line).
I have seen apps on the market and around that will forward calls to voicemail if they match certain filters, but i cant really seem to find an app that will forward to an external number. Any way I could accomplish this?
Is there a quick way to link my Facebook contacts to their matching phone book contact, Or am I forced to do it one by one. My Moto Backflip automatically linked FB to PB, so I'm wondering if it has something to do with Timescape.
I'm at a loss, as I work in the industry and cannot figure this out. Any help would be appreciated
I noticed last night that the messages on Gmail on my phone weren't matching that of online, evening after forcing another sync. It's basically missing one conversation of (12) emails.I then checked using a desktop client and also installed K-9 on the phone and they both matched what was on Gmail online complete with the missing conversation. However, Gmail on my phone is missing the whole conversation, but has everything else. Any idea's why it'll just miss this one conversation? When I complete a search in Gmail on the phone for content from the conversation, it finds it, but it's just not in my Inbox?
I've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.
My son decided to lock his tablet with a random number he plucked from the universe! one that he can't remember! I'm pretty sure it's a MID here is the link to where I got it from. 8G 7" Android Tablet 4.1 Dual Cam Keyboard Case | Trade Me. I have tried all the different power volume button combos that were suggested on web, also have tried downloading the program to my pc to share info with the tablet, but the information sharing must not be turned on in the tablet, as when the device showed up in my computer it was empty! Where I purchased it from will send me a Getroot, but I have to pay and I'm not sure if this will even work!
I have two vertical TableLayouts containing rows of TextViews separated by some graphics. Something like this:
R-L Graphics R-R R-L R-R R-L R-R R-L R-R R-L R-R
The R-R TextViews have a fixed width, which means they grow vertically when the text is longer than will fit in the width. The text is set at runtime so this height is not known in advance. I want the height of the R-L rows to exactly match the height of the R-R rows with the R-R rows being the reference source for the height. Once I do a TextView.setText and a TextView.setWidth on the R-R TextViews, the height of those TextViews should be determined. Then I can do a TextView.setMinHeight on the R-L TextViews. But I'm having trouble getting the height value from the R-R TextViews. The TextView.getHeight method returns zero.
My SIM card not available its phone number. Are there any way to add it to the SIM card?
I try to install my phone number app, but I can't install it. Play store show "incompatible with other applications with the same shared user ID" error. Then I use SIMNumberChanger-v1.2.apk, looks like its not permanently added phone number to my SIM card.
I've got another report with the same content, but a different incremental version of the sdk (126986). Probably one from the US and one from the UK. So now I would love to know why the code blows up and if there is anything I can do about it. And with the source files and line numbers I felt in good shape to so. If only I could match them to the public code repositories ;-(............................
I have written an Instrumentation class for testing some application. I want to run some automation actions on Contacts activity (system application). But I have "signature does not matching" problem when start instrumentation. How can I run this instrumentation on system application?
I have a recent "repo" copy of the platform tree and I noticed that the kernel sources included in it are incomplete. For example, the arch/arm/mach-goldfish directory is not present, but devices from this directory are present in the kernel that the emulator boots. How can I get a more complete copy of the linux kernel sources? Are there tags for lining up these sources with the prebuilt kernel that is shipped in the platform tree?
How to change my number format from the american xxx-xxx-xxx to my country's (Argentina) format. MoreLocale 2. That's exactly what I wanted!!!" Except that's now what I am looking for. There are plenty of websites that tell you to write these numbers down in my google contacts with that format, except that's not what I'm looking for.:
MoreLocale 2 changes the standard American formatting xxx-xxx-xxx to xxxxxxxxx when I select Argentina which is NO FORMATTING once so ever. Even Brazil and Chile and Uruguay, which have the same format gives the same result.
I want my numbers to be formatted xxxx-xxxx. Any way (even manual system file editing) that will allow me to have all numbers entered into a dialer formatted xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.I've lost hours online and all I can find is people praising MoreLocale2 for removing the dashes.. I don't want them removed, I want to change the PLACES where these dashes go...
I have a TEXT column and I want to match all rows where the value has a certain prefix. For example, WHERE mycol LIKE 'myprefix%' However, I noticed in some optimization guidelines that this will not use the index and instead you should do this:WHERE mycol >= 'myprefix' AND mycol < 'myprefiy'Instead of simple A-Z chars, I have a whole variety of UTF-8 chars (think chinese characters). My question is, how to work out the next char in UTF-8? Is it enough to add one to the codepoint,
when the Optimus V came out, I found a thread either on here or XDA about how to change the model number to think it was a different phone. I did this to allow for the usage of Netflix, and I think I may have changed it to a Nexus model..
My current phone, the Optimus F7, is rooted and running stock Android 4.1.2 JB. (I rooted in order to allow for uninhibited tethering from my carrier.)I have browsed here, XDA, and countless pages on Bing and Google... yet I have found nothing about doing this... to any phone. My only desire (not the phone) is to make my F7 think it's - at least - a Galaxy S3. Many of my friends, coworkers and family have the S3 and I figure out things and solve problems on their phones, yet I find nothing on my own, so I simply wanted to turn it into an S3.
I am aware that I could simply get an S3, but I have had horrid luck with Samsung devices (not software) in the past, but have had wonderful luck with LG devices.
In Android I can assign a preferred phone number for a contact.I would like to set a preferred contact for a phone number. If I get called and the number was added to multiple contacts (which is correct for my case), I would like to set another contact as the preferred contact when the number calls again.
I was thinking if i could have an app wherein i can set a particular date and time and at that set moment my phone automatically calls the number that i set. Also if possible the call should be disconnected as soon as the call is received at the other end.
I tried to search a little if such apps were existing i found an app called "Wakeup call alarm" which is not existing any more.one application of such an app is to call my landline number in the morning so that i get up from bed at least pretty lazy to wake up from bed in mornings.
know if i can erase the phone number associated with a sim card in order to set it up with a new phone number? I want to give my unused droid 4 to my girl, but i was told i would need a new sim card in order for her to have her current number.
I want to setup a second phone number using Google Voice. Some time ago I created a new number online and set it up on my previous cell. Now 2 years later I got a new cell and want to setup Google Voice, however the application behaves differently now and tries to integrate with my real phone number, and that is not my intention. During the install it verified my real phone number and tried to use it.
My question: how to set it up to use a number I created online long time ago? I clicked every option but could not find a way to repoint Voice to my second number.
Just switched from a PalmPre+ and am still trying to learn about ICS on my Droid4 but ran into something I can not seem to find a solution for:
I have several conference call contacts that share the same access number and I keep their unique access ID as part of the contact name so that I can type it in when prompted (once the call connects and the contact name is still visible on the dialer pad).
"Adam's conferencee call code 12345678" Work 1-800-555-1212 "Betty's conference call code 87654321" Work 1-800-555-1212 "Charlie's conference call code 54637281" Work 1-800-555-1212
however when manually choosing to dial from Betty's contact list, the android dialer ends up showing "Adam's conference 12345678".
is there a way to "disable the phone# look up when picking from the contact" which ends up displaying the first contact name it encounters in the alphabetically sorted list?
I have got an LG Optimus Vu from Korea through DHL but the customs have seized it saying there is no IMEI number provided for the phone.
I managed to convince them to let me play with the phone and checked in Settings, Phone Identity , About screens and all i saw was a serial number. I could not find the IMEI number. Also it is not there on the box. The phone has a sealed battery and microSIM so it is not possible to check the inside also.
I've had a Droid X2 for about a year. My wife decided that she wanted to try a smart phone and liked my X2. So, I got a Galaxy Note II for myself and gave her the X2. On my Note II, Verizon assigned the phone number I had previously on my X2. Then, they assigned the phone number my wife had been using on her previous "dumb phone" to the X2. I didn't do a factory reset on the X2...we just assigned the new number. Well, everything's working fine except for one thing. Somehow, the X2 seems to know that it previously had the other phone number and if I call her or text her from my Note II, the call or text shows as coming from a contact called "Me" instead of my name. I've searched everywhere trying to get rid of "Me" but no luck.
We have ported android to our hardware. I am facing some issues related to sdcard. Here is the test scenario and issues:
First issue : 1. On hardware, insert the card and copy a file to sdcard using dd command. 2. Remove the card from hardware. 3. Do ls /sdcard. It shows the file present in sdcard. It seems unmount of sdcard device is not happening.
Second issue: 1. Copy a file to sdcard using dd command. 2. Remove the sdcard and check the content of the sdcard from PC. File is not visible. 3. Copy file to sdcard again and then check the content of sdcard from PC. File size is zero bytes. 4. Restart the hardware and copy the file again. File is visible when checked from PC.
Third issue: 1. The content of copied file are not matching with the original source file.
