General :: New Phone Cannot Boot After Titanium Backup
Jan 2, 2014
I have a new quad-core phone with android 4.2.1, that is now useless. It can not boot, it freeze at second bootlogo, before animation. It is rooted, and i have made some changes to build.prop. It worked fine, but after some time i realized the gallery and camera app was gone.
Then i did following:
Installed updated standard gallery+camera apk found online, both in the same app. from here [URL] Works great, but i wanted to make it a system app, so did that with titanium backup. After that, the camera app is gone. Gallery app is still working. So i tried to change it back to user app, again with titanium, but did not stop working. After some time i took out the battery. Now it freeze before boot animation.
I tried "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition", in system recovery but still not booting!
I tried to backup user data from another phone, same model, and restore on this one but says "Error: checksum compare fail".
Do i need to flash a new rom to the phone with my pc? I have not tried this before, and i want to keep stock rom.I have read this page:
But i can not get it in download mode, with those hotkeys?
i have access to other working phones of the same model.
I'm currently using Nikez Lente's ICS rom 1.0.1a9 and what is the system app name for the phone's homescreen where all my apps, widgets are currently stored. I'm a bit of a flash freak so every now and then I drag my at least 40-50 apps one by one.
If i buy the paid app and back up all items in one go (if i can) get a new android phone install the pro app again Then plug in new android phone click restore will i then have all apps games saved games ETC. on my new phones? is it that simple?
I try to understand android boot sequence on my JB (under CM10). I found some docs and there should be specific partitions (boot, recovery, system, cache, data).
My understanding of the boot sequence is now:
A) normal boot: 1) Power ON -> 2) bootloader -> 3) boot-partition where i flashed the kernel aka boot.img -> 4a) system-partition with the OS (libs, UI, etc) where i unpacked over CWM my customROM.zip -> 4b) data-partition, where i unpacked google-apps.zip and installed all the apps -> 4c) cache-partition with user data
B) recovery boot (adb reboot recovery): 1) Power ON -> 2) bootloader -> 3) recovery-partition with CWM where i may unpack all the .zip stuff to proper partitions, or restore from sdcard, etc.
Is this correct? I wonder, because i didn't installed CWM into recovery-partition. It cames from install of CM10 (fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img), so it must be in boot-partition and not in recovery?
So, next confusion: i looked up to /proc/mtd and i don't see neither boot nor recovery partition here:
I did a backup with CWM and loocked the data. There aren't boot, and recovery backups:
# ls -lha /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-10-04.18.49.55/ d---rwxr-x 2 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:56 . d---rwxr-x 3 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:49 .. ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 1.6K Oct 4 18:54 .android_secure.vfat.dup ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 54.6M Oct 4 18:55 cache.yaffs2.img ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 360.2M Oct 4 18:53 data.yaffs2.img ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 212 Oct 4 18:56 nandroid.md5 ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 214.6M Oct 4 18:51 system.yaffs2.img #
So, i think i didn't understand the boot sequence and partition schema corectly.
I flashed to the Cognition Froyo, phone is rooted. Installed Titanium Backup but can't find the icon anywhere. It says installed but nowhere to be found. I've uninstalled and installed again. Also restarted and no luck...
Ok I figured out how to delete the ATT bloatware off the Captivate using Titanium Backup. But how do I reinstall it? I only deleted 'ATT Family Maps' for now until I can figure out how to reinstall things, incase I have a problem later and need to go back to ATT. I clicked 'backup' before i deleted it. But I don't know what buttons to press to get stuff back from the backup.
I've got TB pro, so i did a batch backup and decided before i flash any new roms again, that TB is working.Backing up completes fine. But it won't restore apps.I updated to the latest TB pro, cleared my data and set app processing mode to AUTO, Indirect.
I'm using Titanium Backup 126.96.36.199 on my SGS2 and android 4.1.2, i search for a feature that i cant find: Is there somewhere i can find the operation log. By mistake i unfreezed some of my apps, and i cant find what those apps are, so i wana check the Titanium log, but it seems there is not, Strange for an application that has 100 options settings we dont care but not a simple option for logging?
Trying to restore data from XML. I made SMS & MMS, call log, and Wi-Fi access points XML backups on stock Android 4.1(VZW) and now I am on AOKP toro JB build 4 trying to restore them and all I get is force closes as soon as I select the file to restore from.
I'm on the latest TB Pro and I want to upload my backup to Box. However it keeps failing since the Sonic CD backup I have is bigger than the 250 MB limit that Box has on its files. Is there any way to get TB to skip it so that it can continue backing up my other files? Nexus 4
I just rooted my HTC Evo 3d GSM. I have downloaded many games such as Gameloft etc.But now I am going to install a custom rom for my device. Android 4.3....And so I have game progress saved in my games. I have heard that if you are backing up using Titanium Backup and restore into a custom rom do not install settings.I mean what does it mean? full guide starting from backing up data and restoring them to a custom rom device! (with pictures only if you can)
Lately, it seems that batch restore is broken again on Titanium Backup 4.8. Did a reflash of my friend's phone and using the bath restore function, it wouldn't restore anything and the loading bar would load forever. Restore each app one by one didn't work as well. It was broken in 4.7.X as well for me.
So for the last few months every time I try to sync TB with Dropbox, box, or drive it immediately fails with the message "Upload Failed: Network Error". This happens on every wifi network I've tried. Been searching the Googles for a good while and See other people are having the same issue. Someone suggested that it fails because of apps that exceed like 180mb in size. I have since excluded those apps from the backup but still no deal..
Is there an easy way to clear out the backups from Titanium Backup? I've restored my backups and gotten the apps I want to keep to the point I want them, but there's a ton of bloat that got backed up from the original install of my phone and I want to clear it out.
I've created a backup called "app +data (easy import)". Now I can't find any option to restore an app from this backup. Not from dropbox nor from a titanium backup folder. Titanium does not see this file and says there is no backup for that app. So how to restore an app from this kind of backup??
I recently bought the latest Pro version of Titanium Backup (5.3.2). Works brilliantly! If you don't have it yet, buy it, it's so worth the money! (If you flash different ROMs often). But there's one thing.
I would like to auto backup a few of my system settings, but nowhere near all. So I read something about creating a label, which you could use in the planner. But following instructions on creating such label, I get stuck. Instructions are: MENU > Filters > Create Label.
The menu part, I guess, means hitting the three dots, bringing up the options menu. After that: No Filters thingy. Nowhere to be found.
