I try to understand android boot sequence on my JB (under CM10). I found some docs and there should be specific partitions (boot, recovery, system, cache, data).
My understanding of the boot sequence is now:
A) normal boot: 1) Power ON -> 2) bootloader -> 3) boot-partition where i flashed the kernel aka boot.img -> 4a) system-partition with the OS (libs, UI, etc) where i unpacked over CWM my customROM.zip -> 4b) data-partition, where i unpacked google-apps.zip and installed all the apps -> 4c) cache-partition with user data
B) recovery boot (adb reboot recovery): 1) Power ON -> 2) bootloader -> 3) recovery-partition with CWM where i may unpack all the .zip stuff to proper partitions, or restore from sdcard, etc.
Is this correct? I wonder, because i didn't installed CWM into recovery-partition. It cames from install of CM10 (fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img), so it must be in boot-partition and not in recovery?
So, next confusion: i looked up to /proc/mtd and i don't see neither boot nor recovery partition here:
I did a backup with CWM and loocked the data. There aren't boot, and recovery backups:
# ls -lha /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-10-04.18.49.55/ d---rwxr-x 2 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:56 . d---rwxr-x 3 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:49 .. ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 1.6K Oct 4 18:54 .android_secure.vfat.dup ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 54.6M Oct 4 18:55 cache.yaffs2.img ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 360.2M Oct 4 18:53 data.yaffs2.img ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 212 Oct 4 18:56 nandroid.md5 ----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 214.6M Oct 4 18:51 system.yaffs2.img #
So, i think i didn't understand the boot sequence and partition schema corectly.
Instead of seeing the boring old Android logo or my service provider's logo, I'd love to see the standard text-based Linux boot screen that shows the status of all the hardware and configuration info as my phone boots. My current phone is an HTC EVO 3D running Cool ICS with Sense 3.6 and Revolutionary CWM.
I went to reboot my Droid because it was lagging a little and when it came back on it go stuck at the Cyanogen boot screen. I pulled the battery, put it back in and held the X to boot in recovery and my recovery won't come up either. It just skips right to the Motorola M and if it doesn't get stuck there it goes back to the Cyanogen screen.
I haven't made any changes to the phone at all so I am completely puzzled on why this is happening. I obviously can't take it back to Verizon since its rooted so if there is a way to fix this I really want to because I love my phone and my wife will kill me if it is screwed up.
How easy is it to make an application that's just a wrapper around the browser? Can the Android OS boot directly into that application so that only a certain application launches after boot. I'm building a client some custom software and I'd prefer to use one of those Archos 5 MIDs than a Linux netbook.
Is there a way by either an internal file or maybe an app to be able to track the boot log sequence of an Samsung Epic Touch (4G) Sprint (Or any other Android phone for that matter) . so if I have an error or an app is acting up I can tell which app or where in the boot up sequence there is a problem and what is causing it.
Now I have to uninstall the latest apps until I find the one that is causing a problem.
Also is there a way to for lack of a better word to (safe mode) or similar?
I recently just rooted my evo 3d sprint with the the boot 1.5 and everything went well. I decided i wanted to overclock my phone so i followed zeemaxs way. Before going into the overclock procedure i decided to do the the RCMIX Evo 3d kernel v. 2.2.3 first so i would have better results when done with the overclock procedure.I boot-up the kernel through the recovery mode on the phone butit failed to load so i just rebooted. After that my wifi and 4g stopped working. So i downloaded an app on the market called "flash image GUI" which lets me flash the kernels through the app. I flashed the RCMIX kernel and rebooted and now im stuck ima boot loop. I COULD just go back and back up to my old rom and settings etc but the problem is i dintmake any kind of back up or recovery i think.
I just did a system update on my phone this weekend and found that after the update the phone will not boot, I have tried everything to get it to boot but it just won't boot, I have also attempted to plug it into my computer to re-install the OS but the computer won't recognize it as it doesn't fully load the OS.
I have a new ace 3 LTE S7275R. I tried installing CWM recovery found here: URL....I tried with odin 3.07 and 1.85Every time, odin shows success, but when trying to boot into recovery, the phone gets stuck at "recovery booting...."The phone is otherwise working...getting CWM to work? how can I return to stock recovery at least?
I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545), then I decided to install a custom ROM since the default TouchWiz rom is slower than a turtle stuck in a pile of wax. I installed Safestrap 3.71 (TWRP v184.108.40.206) and by mistake flashed my stock rom. Now my phone won't boot into any ROM since that is corrupt, but it still boots into recovery (that's a good thing I suppose). I have tried a number of Safestrap compatible roms (omni, cm, beanstalk) but they either end up giving me a black screen or a very weird looking pixelated blue/cyan screen. I have to remove the battery to reboot my phone. I tried using adb to wipe the data aswell but nothing works beyond recovery. I have to rely on adb to push and pull data to and from the phone.
i just bought an HTC EVO 3d GSM x515m few days ago. After unlock from htcdev and instal custom rom my phone was working with a bug in 3d video. By trying to solve it by instaling some custom ROMs download on the net my phone cant boot any rom now even the one working before and cant stop bootlooping. before doing all those things i made an OTA update so my boot became HB 220.127.116.11.7 . i didnt do even one weeks with the phone. I want just to go back to my stock ROM but i cant coz the phone is not booting any ROMs
So I just got my S4 rooted and everything seems correct. I then installed Rom Manager so I could start demoing some of the ROMs out there. Went through all the steps to flash Rom manager as the recovery but I cannot get my recovery to go to CWM, it just keeps going to the stock android recovery. I have googled the crap out of this and am coming up with nothing. in fact I have written several android apps but this just does not work.
My device is a Verizon Samsung S4 model SCH-I545 running android version 4.2.2 Kernal: 3.3.0-690088se.infra@S0210-13#1
I have a Samsung Exhibit II 4g phone. Yesterday I powered up the phone and it went to the start-up screen that displays the phone's logo: "Exhibit II 4g," and it froze on that screen. I tried to remove the battery to reset it. I looked at some online forums about "brick walls" and tried to remedy the problem with those. I think I tried to reset to the factory configuration. I tried using the Heimdall One Click, Odin, Z image, Winrar, etc, etc. I just followed the steps because I thought that reseting the phone to its factory default setting would correct whatever was causing the phone to freeze. I am a total novice with this stuff, what "flashing" or "rooting" mean.
i wanted to upgrade my galaxy s2 g i9100 and since that time i hve not been able to use the phone again.
i tried rooting it but after that i can not boot recovery anymore all that comes on the screen is SAMSUNG GALAXY SII with a yellow triangle.even if i press the up volume key+home key+power nothing happens.
I have a Karbonn A6 phone given to me by my friend because it was locked. It's asking for gmail user/pass but he doesn't have it. I tried to boot into recovery mode using Power+Volume Up button but all I get is a white triangle with an exclamation mark in it. I can't seem to go beyond that. USB debugging was perhaps not enabled unless it was enabled by default. There is no camera button, only power and Volume Up/Down. What do I do?
I just need to get this phone working somehow. Is there a way to use a computer and a USB cable to get it running?
I am looking for a way to get my wifi to start on boot. I hate going to the settings every time especially when some programs start searching for the connection automatically. I didn't know if there was a setting or an app to get it going.
I have never even heard of the make and no software comes with the device. It's a so called "Asteroid" tablet which will not get past the boot screen! it just gets stuck on the android logo with the dots going up and down the space ship. He said it worked for one day and then it broke. It does look very similar to the generic ones being sold on other websites and are just called "7 Inch Android 2.2OS Tablet with WiFi and Camera".
I just got a Arnova 10D G3 and it doesn't boot. All I get is the "Arnova" logo on a black screen. I bought it on a refurbished condition, it was a pretty good deal so I am ready to do any risky procedure to make it work since I don't have much to lose.
I downloaded the latest firmware from the official website but I am unable to use it because I can't access the recovery mode.
How can I make it boot?
I am now able to access the recovery mode (power + vol up) but the tablet keeps rebooting after loading this mode. I don't even have a menu.
Trying to get sound during the boot screen on my stock Gingerbread rom AT&T Infuse 4G.
In systemmedia, I have the bootsamung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg. I was missing the PowerOn.ogg in the systemmediaui folder so I copied that from another Samsung phone but still get no sound during the AT&T boot screen. I assume there must be a text file that allows the phone to seek the ogg file.
I have tried using rom manager, holding the power button and selecting reboot recorvery, and by holding the power button and x. Each way I see the white m twice then the phone just boots up. I am running cm7 7.0.3. I have only had the phone for a week, I am trying to wait for the vigor. It worked fine Friday when I flashed cm7
my daughter's LGL55C will not go to boot menu. i just spent an hour on the phone with straight talk, and they basically said 'we tried everything.. of course the warranty is up. i have tried volume up, power, menu, and various combinations - including the camera key. when i go to the website, the phone pictured there is not the phone she owns. ?? the website says 'samsung' - hers says 'LG.' the power button is shown on the right top of the phone, hers is on the left top. she's 18 and liable to croak if she doesn't have her phone sometime soon. she put a new password on it this afternoon, and since then it's been like this. once it's off, and battery out and reinserted, volume up/down, power, menu, home and all combinations - it goes to 'enter password.'
